  • Great location for the price.
  • Service is really bad. Trying to check out they had 15 people in queue and one serving. Decor ands furniture very old hat.

“It is what it is, but on balance I'd probably try somewhere else next time. It's a great location for downtown LA and the price is reasonable, but I think better value and service will be found elsewhere and that's what I'll do.”

  • Location.
  • No flow to the lobby/restaurants/entrances.

“I would stay here again if I had business in downtown LA. It was close to shopping, restaurants, etc. All within easy walking distance.”

  • Location was perfect.
  • Executive level rooms are small.

“Great for folks who have business in the heart of LA. We were just minutes for USC. We were pleasantly surprised to get a free upgrade to the executive level rooms where we had free drinks and appetizers in the evening and continental breakfast in the morning. We will surely stay at the Wilshire Grand again.”

  • The service was good and the people were friendly and helpful.
  • The bed was very small and uncomfortable. The shower in the bathroom was defect.

“I felt the room would have been nicer, there would have been no problems!”

  • It was convenient to the subway and secure.
  • No coffee maker in room, food prices.

“The Wilshire Grand is a large hotel in downtown LA, near the business district, Staples Center, Nokia Theatre and Garment district. It has a large lobby, helpful staff, tasteful but not terrible special economy rooms, and not a whole lot of frills. I thought I had booked a standard king but we got two doubles, which really wasn't a problem. There was no coffee maker in the room, nor any tissues that I could find. Also, no safe in the room. The parking was very expensive so we parked across the street and somehow lucked out with only paying $8 for overnight parking! We don't know why. It said $28. The hotel was nice, but in a dicey area. We felt comfortable taking the subway at night and walking across the street, but wouldn't have gone much further after dark. It is convenient to a lot of things, as I said.”

  • Not much.
  • My car was ransacked in valet parking.

“The only parking in the hotel is their Valet parking. My car was thoroughly ransacked while overnight in their care and some small items were stolen. The hotel is doing NOTHING to compensate us for our small losses. Their fallback is that their insurance company only insures the car, not the contents. THIS HOTEL IS A JOKE! AND SO IS THEIR SECURITY!”

  • Nothing to speak of.
  • Carpet dirty, room noisy, crammed in furniture, $30 parking.

“Over rated, no coffee in room, no newspaper, dirty carpet, and super noisy all night long, and parking very expensive.”

  • Attentive and customer-oriented staff.
  • Old, shabby bathrooms and décor.

“This hotel is convenient to downtown locations, but is old and shabby. For one night of business travel, the accommodations were satisfactory, but I would not stay here for vacation.”

  • Restaurant / bar was well kept - good food friendly staff.
  • Out of date rooms - not comfortable for business.

“First room I was given had a phone at a work table that did not work as it had no phone line - the repairman called the front desk to assign me to another room as he could not repair the phone in a timely manner - the second room was much larger than the first, however the bed was so far from the 19" TV I could not read any captions from the nba playoff game I was trying to watch - I went to the bar which was a good experience. This is the first time I was disappointed with a hotel - the hotel was expensive as far as parking and dining- which you expect from an upscale hotel, but the rooms were poor - not easy to work in or to relax in.”

  • The managers were helpful.
  • The reservationists and several bell men.

“I was extremely dissatisfied with the washier grand. The parking is expensive. The rooms are not worth the high end prices charged; however once you complain to management, your stay is made to be more comfortable.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[6] • Location:[9]

  • The restaurants were excellent.
  • The parking/valet staff did not want to help with luggage during arrival nor departure.

“I enjoyed the hotel stay, the rooms were well equipped and clean. However I could hear the conversation of those in the room next door. I really enjoyed the staff at the restaurant. The food was excellent and the waiters in the Italian restaurant were extremely nice. The hotel needs to improve on the valet/parking staff. When I asked for assistance with my luggage the valet said "well it has wheels, you can handle it" Leaving the hotel garage the valet stood next to the car and waited for me to approach instead of coming to retrieve the luggage.”

  • The service and staff responsiveness were excellent.
  • It had central air, and I was cold every evening because the room temperature could not be adjusted for my personal comfort.

“I was extremely impressed with the hotel. I started in a standard room and because of the issues I experienced while there the management moved me to the executive level with a fabulous room. I also had access to the executive lounge with free continental”

  • $30 a day to park my car!

“Outrageous cost of parking - about twice as any other hotel in the area. I feel ripped off. ”

  • Registration upgraded our room to a king bed executive room.
  • We had to go through strict security to retrieve something we forgot in the room and remembered 5 minutes after checking out.

“Staff strives to please. Elegant setting. Comfortable pillow mattresses for a good nights sleep. Excellent continental breakfast and happy hour complete with verdures for executive rooms. Food deliciously prepared by French chef! Saw two music stars in lobby who were guests there during the Grammy awards week-end!”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[2] • Location:[10]

  • Lobby.
  • Staff was rude at valet and front desk; restaurants closed before 10 pm.

“The downtown location is superb. The lobby area is pleasant and sophisticated. The restaurants close very early, but room service food quality was excellent. The front desk staff and valet staff were borderline rude and uninterested in customer service, more interested in "next!" the room decor was pleasant; room was small and bathroom was even smaller.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[10] • Location:[9]

  • Hotel staff - absolutely amazing professionalism and courtesy. Front desk staff and wait staff were the best I¿ve encountered.
  • Parking, esp. Parking prices - $30.00/night; valet only. Ouch!

“Enjoyed the hotel; great room, clean well appointed and quiet. The hotel staff is outstanding. Five restaurants and a casual bar make for a great experience. In the middle of downtown L.A. Near everything. I highly recommend it.”
