“This small hotel is perfect for the business traveller. It is quiet, with a nice patio to relax or click away on your laptop on your warm LA days. The staff is friendly, but in an almost mechanical way. The clean, quaint lobby, beautifully decorated for the holidays, is another great place to hang out. One thing the rooms are missing is a microwave.”

“Stayed two nights; very clean room, pool, exercise room, spa. The walls are very thin; at 5 am I had to put earplugs on because someone nearby turned on the TV and raised their voices; it sounded like a party. Marriott should really do something about this, because it really affected my sleep and traveler rating, and I'm hard of hearing! Breakfast (a respectable full buffet) is not included - I knew this from reviews.”

“A decent hotel just a few miles from the Home Depot Center, which is what I was looking for. It's not the closest one, but once you leave the event traffic, it's only about 5 minutes away. I got in after midnight. The parking lot was full, so I had to park farther from my room than I would have liked, but I was able to go in a side door. The room was basic, big, and pretty clean. Nice linens. The bed was a hard as a plank. Maybe some people like that. I thought the towels were a bit nicer than average. What I liked best was that the curtains shut out a lot of light so that I was able to sleep really late. My room faced the on ramp to the freeway, but I honestly didn't hear a lot of freeway noise.”

“The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. The freeway was close but didn't cause a noise problem. The air conditioner/heater unit in our room was noisy. They charged for their continental breakfast but did not make this clear to guests. The price was high for the breakfast also. Overall, I would stay here again, but only through Priceline.”

“Very good night's stay beds comfortable and clean. Well decorated and there was enough pillows for everyone. Location was extremely good I was exactly 10 to 20 minutes to everything, this included downtown shopping in the garment district, Redondo Beach for restaurants & Bingo in Hawaiian Gardens.”

“I'm a travel nurse and have various types of needs for extended period of time depending on how long my contract is. I would highly recommend this hotel to other nurses with similar needs and likes. Just recommend a small microwave for us who can't eat out every day but have gone to grocery store and purchased little dinners and hotpockets.”

“The pool hours were 6:00am to 11:00pm yet the pool was lock up by 10:20pm. I now know why the pool was locked early after my vehicle was stolen.”

“Our overall experience at Courtyard by Marriott Torrance South Bay was quite an experience. To our misfortune, one of my sisters became ill and needed emergency medical treatment. The desk clerk was very helpful with notifying the Paramedics in a very timely manner. Because the emergency with my sister, we did not know how long we would need our room. When I returned from the hospital to notify the desk I may need the room for a few more days, and I wouldn't know how long until I spoke with my sister's physician, I was informed by the Desk Clerk, who was Asian, first if I needed the room, and I informed I needed to speak with my sister's doctor, then she informed me that the hotel was all booked up, and I would have to call the 1-800 number to book a room. After, speaking with my sister's doctor, I realized that we would need the room for a few more days. At that time I call the hotel and spoke with Sam and explained what had happened with the previous Desk Clerk, he informed me not to worry, the room we had before would be available when we returned to the hotel. I was very disappointed with the previous Desk Clerk that I encountered. I feel that her actions were uncalled for, and she should have been more helpful considering the situation. She did process my credit card right away, and when I asked her if the hotel used any discounts such as AAA, State Employees, AARP, or any discounts for the rooms, she informed me "No" and charged me the maximum rate. I was very disappointed with the service I received from her. I also, wonder if I had not been African American if she would have been more compassionate and helpful. I believe she could have been a little more helpful because the situation was very unexpected. I feel if a customer has an unexpected emergency while traveling, the Hotel staff should conduct themselves as Sam and Deborah, did by being helpful.”
