Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[10] • Location:[9]

  • Excellent location, parking, and great staff
  • The bathroom was a bit dimly-lit and wasn't as nice as the rest of the room.

“The Metropolitan Hotel is in a great location, with parking at a reasonable rate ($5/night) and a very friendly staff. The room was clean and nice. The bathroom was a bit dimly-lit and wasn't quite as nice as the rest of the room, but it was still quite fine and the room overall was excellent. Everything about the hotel was convenient and the staff was helpful. A great place to stay!”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[8] • Location:[9]

  • Right at the freeway and major arteries. Traffic flow visible from high floors. Free LA Times.
  • Breakfast room fairly bare.

“Shiny lobby, convenient to everything and just a wee bit seedy. View of landscape a little deadly (parking lots, etc.) It's in a small shopping center with a 24 hour deli, a pretty good restaurant, professional offices, etc.”

  • The price couldn't be beat. It was also relatively convenient to public transportation.
  • It is in a very dicey neighborhood.

“Clean, affordable, accessible, but in a rather "seedy" part of town. The hotel itself is secure, but you wouldn't want to take any walks around the hotel after dark, but then again, who walks in LA?”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[9] • Location:[8]

  • Very friendly hotel staff
  • Bad breakfasts

“Good price, nice hotel. I had a very nice room, big and clean. The staff was helpful, there is a parking in front of the hotel (5$ per night) so you don't need to look for a parking space in the street. A bit far from the main sites of interest but I won t hesitate to recommend this hotel to my friends.”

Cleanliness:[4] • Staff:[9] • Location:[6]

  • Great staff
  • Many broken things in room

“AC, TV cable, and tub drain all didn't work. Finally we asked for another room. They gave us an upgrade and employees were nice about it.I had bid and got a Marriott Residence Inn that was also a 2 star. That was so much nicer. ”

Cleanliness:[1] • Staff:[4] • Location:[1]

  • None
  • Area was not good, misleading travel time to Universal Studios - actually a 15-20 min taxi ride!

“Very bad experience! The toilet over flowed on arrival and the bath towels were used to mop up by the staff, not very apologetic either! Didn't feel safe at all. Breakfast room appeared unused for a long period of time! Cut our stay short and moved to the Hilton, located a 5 min walk from Universal.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[7] • Location:[9]

  • it was in a convenient location
  • late one night it was difficult to reach the front desk by telephone

“It was in a convenient location, close to a freeway, stores and restaurants. It was also a short trek away from some of the better known Hollywood sightseeing spots.

My room was clean, everything properly operated, the bed was comfortable, and the staff was friendly. Overall, I had a great deal for the money.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[8] • Location:[8]

  • Generally quite clean, quiet
  • Out-dated, cheap decor and fixtures.

“The Metropolitan Hotel is pretty standard for the run-down, seedy neighborhood it is located in. I had never been to Hollywood prior to this visit, so I didn't know what I was in for. The hotel is extrememly cheaply furnished besides being about 20 years + out dated. Besides the cheap, run-down furnishings, the rooms were quite clean. The continental breakfast only consisted of some danishes, cherrios or frosted flakes, toast and coffee. Some fruit or juice would have been nice. The hotel is easy to find and get to right off the freeway. Parking is $5/day, and that wasn't advertised before hand.”

Cleanliness:[2] • Staff:[6] • Location:[2]

  • Underground secure parking lot
  • Old, somewhat lacking upkeep

“At one time this was a premier hotel, however those days are long gone. Age is showing and compared to other hotels that I have had, I did not feel I received as good of a value with this hotel.”
