  • The staff were generally very friendly and helpful, very comfy beds.
  • It is in dire need of renovation, and the hallways stink of smoke.

“The Crowne Plaza Redondo beach is a nice enough hotel. The beds were very comfortable, the staff were pleasant. However, once you get to the rooms, you can tell it's an OLD hotel. The hallways reek of smoke since many of the rooms are still smoking. The walls could use new wallpaper/paint. And the TV is an old tube. No flat screen, no HD. The bathroom was also smaller than many other hotels I've stayed at. So, to sum it up as
great place to stay if you don't mind
smelling smoke on the way to your room.”

  • Location!
  • Valet parking is a tad bit pricey.

“As a former local of this neighborhood, I always love staying at the Plaza. Nearly everything you could want is within walking distance and the view is amazing!”

  • You could view the ocean and in a quite area.
  • The rooms were very old, specially the carpet, the hotel needed a remodeling.

“The hotel has a good friendly customer service, big lobby with lots of comfortable sitting areas, except for the garage you have to pay $18 daily for your car.”

  • There is a free use of Gold's gym next door.
  • The bathroom was filthy. Carpet was dirty, trash in the room from the prior guests.

“ I do not feel that this was the 3.5 star hotel. I would rate it 2.5 at best. The bathroom had mold in the shower, poor water pressure, very low shower head. I'm only 5'4" and the shower head was too low for me. The carpet was filthy. There was trash on the floor from previous guests. The sheets were torn. I could go on and on but I think you get the idea. There were two positives, the free use of Gold's gym next door(I use that term loosely since I was paying too much for the room) and I was compelled to pay $18 a day for parking since I complained about the room. ”

  • Location to beach was very convenient.
  • Carpets were filthy. Wallpaper coming apart.

“The rooms need a complete make-over. The first room they gave me had a very bad odor coming from the refrigerator. I had to ask for another room. They told me they would send the keys up. After waiting 15 minutes, I went to the front desk to get them myself. The second room's bathroom had the wallpaper coming apart. Also the towel rod was bent/broken with the towels covering it. Carpets were badly stained. I can't believe management would allow their rooms to look like they did.”

  • Proximity to beach.
  • Exorbitant parking fees.

“Overall the hotel is alright. It definitely needs major renovation as furnishings and carpeting all through out the property is now showing signs of wear and tear. Major plus is the location, it is near the beach truly a short walk to it. Downside is that you have to pay for parking and Internet access. There is a business center but only two desktops computers that is almost always occupied.”

  • I really loved the location. The view was amazing and the temperature commented my stay perfectly.
  • I did not like to wait in line.

“I really liked the place. I felt extremely comfortable and the quality was a 10 out of 10. I would just ask for more authenticity from some of the staff members.”

“Great location in Redondo Beach, nice views, lovely and friendly staff. Overall wonderful stay.”

  • I like that many of the rooms have good views of the ocean.
  • Staff is not overly friendly, never asked how our stay was, and rooms look shabby.

“Overall, I would rate this hotel at no more than 2.5 stars. Many of the rooms are in a much poorer condition than say a Holiday Inn Express or a Hampton Inn. The expensive overnight parking at $18/nt and the expensive internet connection can also really add a lot of money to ones stay. Paying for parking in very urban areas is one thing, but $18 is a bit steep for this area. In addition, the pool area is far from nice. They have very few lounge chairs and the very few they do have are all broken and dirty. In fact, they have so few lounge chairs, I couldn't even get one on a late Monday morning. Absolutely pitiful. Also -- a friend of mine told me they closed the lounge and there was a sign it was closed "due to the economic environment." This makes no sense to me and you would think Crowne Plaza would want to do all they could to have a nice lounge and attract the high-paying loyal and premium travelers. The best things about this hotel are: pretty lobby, bike rentals, an adjacent Golds gym you can use, and good views.I actually bid all the way down to 2 stars trying to avoid this hotel because during my last 3-night stay here in January, I had NO housekeeping service the entire time! The front desk staff seemed far from concerned when I pointed it out to them. They even told me they only clean the rooms in the area I was in during 7am and 9am and if you are in your room during that time, you are out of luck. All in all, can't complain to much since I stayed here for just $50 a night but I do think it is far from a 3.5 star property. I would have been much happier at a Hampton Inn or the Best Western Sunrise across the street. To end on a high note, my stay was more pleasant than it was in January.”

  • beach
  • not a crowne I'm used to

“nice place for what it is.. listed and photos make it look like a regular Crowne.. it is not. Lovely lobby, on the beach. decent clean place”

  • Beautiful lobby and good location.
  • Front desk staff were a little bit cold and the room was oldish.

“Pretty good location, right beside hermosa beach, so beautiful walk right to the ocean. Hotel was pretty nice, but the rooms were obviously a little bit old and the wallpaper was peeling in places. Nice complimentary touches like lavender linen spray and eye pillows. I give it an 8/10.”

  • It was across from the pier very convenient to restaurants and Manhattan beach where my son surfed.
  • The double beds were not queen it was a standard bed.

“Other than the beds the hotel was very nice I was very happy when I found out that it was a crown plaza hotel the rooms are always clean and comfortable.”

  • Location and view (facing the beach).
  • Murphy bed mattress, weak internet service, parking & internet fees.

“The hotel is upscale and spacious, with most rooms having a beautiful view of the ocean. We were assigned a suite with a full size murphy bed that had a worn out mattress. The room was not vacuumed well as we saw the same pennies and tic-tacs on the floor for our four day stay, and sometimes the disposable coffee cups were not replaced. We also did not get the robes we were told came with each room.”

  • Great mattress, pillows, kind housekeepers and was
    clean.
  • Pool deck needs cleaning/maintenance., smoky smell in hallway.

“Very good value, comfortable rooms. Great for kids; safe and clean. Even though the halls could smell of smoke, the rooms did not. The staff was very accommodating. Parking was $18/night -- could be worse. Chairs in lobby could stand to be replaced. Make sure the person at reception tells you how much deposit they're going to hold on your debit card before they run it! I had the person reverse the charge when I found out how much it was. I gave her a different card to use, but I was still nervous I'd be overdrawn in my account. All in all a great experience and I would definitely use Priceline again.”

  • fabulous location; well maintained

“This hotel offers good facilities, biking, tennis, swimming, and beautiful ocean views. Parking fees ($18.00/night) are annoying, but not out of line for the area. The proximity to the Strand alone makes the upcharge worthwhile.”

  • nothing
  • front desk clerk trying to cross-sell for commission. charged me even after i said no

“this hotel is horrible. the front desk clerk wouldn't give me a double bed even though they had it available. after i complained, they gave it to me. before that they tried to up-sell me. they took my card for incidental and then charged me for the upgrade when there was none. horrible sales practice.”

  • Great location.
  • Nearly hit in the head by a beer bottle falling from a higher balcony.

“I liked the location of the hotel and the lobby was really nice. The rooms were average.”

  • The room was fresh and clean and had a small balcony to open window for fresh air.
  • Hall carpet had used fragrant deodorizer, that I didn't like the smell.

“Parking fee $18/day self parking; $22/day valet; internet in room is charged $9.95/day.”
