  • The simple and minimal room layout is very appealing.
  • Valet parking is $22 US, otherwise you have to park in street.

“The hotel as a whole was very nice, comfortable. However, the cost of valet parking was ridiculous. I enjoyed the simple layout of the rooms, not extravagant or homey, just minimal and simple. 3.5 out of 5.”

  • Cool scene.
  • Lots of construction around it.

“I enjoyed my experience.”

  • Great pool area; good food in the restaurant.
  • NA.

“First of all, this is no longer the Furama that hotel was closed and remodeled and now is just the tower section which is called the Custom Hotel. While it is very trendy in some ways, they have not forgotten that service and cleanliness are extremely important to the traveler. I used the hotel to accommodate guest visiting the LAX area and also as a meeting place for business during the summer months.”

Cleanliness:[4] • Staff:[7] • Location:[6]

  • Hip, young vibe.
  • Minimal housekeeping, gouge you on valet parking.

“The rooms are barely cleaned or serviced while you're there, and the minimalist decor isn't really user-friendly (poor lighting, uncomfortable bed, nowhere to put your clothes, etc).”

“Youthful. Trendy - too much so.”

  • A hip boutique hotel at a great price.
  • Rooms were not very spacious.

“Hotel is less than one year old, so everything is pretty new. Location wasn't too great for me, as a leisure traveler. Overall, the room was small and simple, but the decor is modern. Beautiful lobby.”

  • Nothing.
  • Pretty much everything.

“Don't stay at this hotel. It's trying to be chic and cutting-edge, but it's just plain weird. The carpet in the rooms is less than industrial grade, the rooms smell funny, the walls are painted grey/black for a very dark feeling, the parking situation is more difficult than other hotels near LAX and the only vending machines in the hotel have plenty of odd-ball stuff (dice earrings, whoopee cushions, assorted randomness) but no beverages. I mentioned that to the front desk and their response was, "The last hotel I worked at didn't have any vending machines at all." Helpful? And, the elevators are somewhere between weird and creepy. Each time you get it there's a big face on the back wall and then some chattering/whispering in a foreign language starts when the door closes. Trust me, look elsewhere.”

  • The style of the rooms.
  • The cost of the valet parking.

“This is an inexpensive alternative for those visiting LA and not just for layover stays, provided you are comfortable driving to typical LA attractions.”

Cleanliness:[6] • Staff:[7] • Location:[7]

  • Comfortable bed.
  • Valet parking is $20.00 I asked if there was not valet parking and they said no. Later I discovered a parking garage behind the building.

“There was no breakfast and the desk clerks knew nothing about this. Also valet parking is $20.00 plus tax. There is a parking garage behind the grocery store next to the hotel. When I asked the valet if there was parking other than valet, he lied and said no; I discovered the parking garage later. I got charged for parking when I could have parked for free or a small fee. I would stay here again.”

  • Bathrooms and bedding were clean and comfortable.
  • No water/soda available in vending area. Only valet parking is offered.

“The Custom Hotel is unique and very modern. The main entrance is a little bit confusing to a first time guest.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[7] • Location:[7]

  • Hip, lively and good design.
  • Dark, poor parking options, business center needs a lot of work.

“This is a trendy, modern hotel with aspects of a euro-hostile, japanese simplicity and urbanite nighttime appeal. Simple, clean, but small rooms include everything you'd expect and enough space to get some work done. Don't expect corporate luxury, but the location is central to the whole of the LA area and very close to LAX.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[9] • Location:[9]

  • Chic, comfy rooms, great food and public spaces.
  • Huge parties that clog valet and the pool area.

“Cute, cute, cute. Don't expect luxurious finishes for the price, but everything is comfy and fun. Vending machines are a must see. Great room service. Rooms are small but chic and the beds are great. Not for everyone, but if you're into the w, the standard or any Ian Schrage hotel, this is the place for you on the cheap. (Note: You get what you pay for. Don't expect luxury and you'll be fine.)”

  • The decor style/interior decor/minimalist theme, the pool and its party-feel, most of the staff/room service, cleanliness.
  • One staff gave very bad directions from LAX, very disappointed with that.

“The hotel looked just like the pictures, even slightly better. I love the interior motif, simple, minimal, lines and angles, no unnecessary clutter-decor. No that there was a long wait for the elevators but they play these trippy-random sounds of people whispering or talking in diff. Languages. Room service presentation and person were very professional, kind of like from a 5-star resort. Front-desk and other staff were very good as well. Id come back and refers friends.”

  • A creative artistic place.
  • Loud construction, uncomfortable bed.

“Although the decor is awesome it does not outweigh the loud noise from the construction next door mixed with paper thin walls and a very hard bed with a thick but extremely soft mattress over it.”

  • Clean, fun, affordable and at a perfect location close to the airport yet very quiet.
  • The parking fee was expensive.

“Close to LAX, very clean and quiet, comfortable bed and room well decorated all that at an affordable price, a champion in this category. A fun place to stay ay, good restaurants within walking distance. I would recommend it warmly.”

  • It is an interesting modern museum.
  • This hotel was not designed with the guest in mind.

“All new a cold environment in a bizarre location. Arrogant staff promised "always available" shuttle service was not available when we arrived.”

  • Bed was very comfortable; decor was unusual but attractive.
  • The smoke alarm in our room started beeping at around 11pm. The maintenance guy came to fix it, but it started beeping again around 11:45.

“Very fun place near LAX. Close to Santa Monica, but not so close to other LA attractions. Bed was fantastically comfortable. The decor was whimsical and unique; I would not recommend for people who are bothered by "alternative" taste in decor.”

  • Convenient, clean, comfortable beds and great staff.
  • $22 for valet parking. This cost was not told to us when we checked in.

“A great boutique hotel, close to LAX. It is quiet, comfortable and is within a short drive to Venice Beach, Santa Monica and is the closest hotel to Loyola Marymount University.”
