• Rooms, breakfast, location, and staff.

“Bright, spacious room with great mattress and down comforter. Friendly,efficient staff; very good continental breakfast with boiled eggs to waffles; Rooms can get a cross breeze and have ceiling fans. Ours had gas fireplace for heat. Avoid the nearby McLintocks, a cheesy, very overpriced restaurant with bad food.”

• Location was awesome! The bedroom was very nice, just the bathroom could have been cleaned up better. Breakfast was great, as well as awesome staff.
• Bathroom needs a very good cleaning! Also, was promised a couple of bottled waters but didn't receive them.

“Overall, it was a nice hotel. Location was awesome! Fantastic views, very cute bedroom. The bathroom leaves a lot to be desired, very worn and it was dirty! The built in hair dryer had some gunk on it. The staff was very good! The pool seemed to not be heated so we weren't happy with that. (also, tad on the small side but you do get awesome ocean views).”

• Price was fair for the stay; hotel staff was great.
• Room was a little outdated and not as nice as I would expect.

“I found the lobby and dining area to be very nice, as well as very friendly and helpful staff. The room was moderate by comparison, however, adequate for a casual hotel stay on business or pleasure. Overall, the considerate staff more than made up for any shortfalls in the room. A good value.”

• Cookies, front desk personnel, gorgeous room.
• Nothing.

“Fountain in the reception area and Italian feel when you drive up. Incredibly clean, beautiful, bed comfortable, bathroom very clean, food excellent, good location near the 5 and 55. Great cookies! Great desk personnel including Jacqueline and Erik. Loved it! Better than the Four Seasons I have stayed at in Seattle.”

• You could bring dogs and close to freeway and beach.
• The hotel was clean and neat but outdated furniture.

• Comfortable, beautiful, staff is fantastic, breakfast great the views are amazing.
• There was nothing I didn't like about this place.

“This hotel was quite a pleasant surprise. I have never slept in a more comfortable bed. The fireplace was fantastic. The views from this property were amazing. The staff was very friendly. Rooms were clean and have many extras. Even the complimentary breakfast was very good. I will stay here again!”

• The room was spacious, very attractive and quiet. The bed was very comfortable; I got a great night's sleep. Convenient location.
• The maid left a plastic cup half full of job and her gum stuck to the rim in our bathroom.

“Quaint hotel in a beautiful setting. Rooms are decorated in a cozy country theme and have very comfortable beds. Nice breakfast is included in the dining room. We only stayed one night but wished it was longer.”

• Bathroom was a little small.

• The caring attitude of the staff.
• Too many steps for a handicapped person.

“It was quiet, peaceful, clean and pleasant to stay there. The complimentary breakfast was great. The staff was extremely helpful. It was located within a short walking distance from the beach which we could see from our window, and a good restaurant was about 2 blocks away.”

• Late-night rowdy travelers.

“The hotel was nice, but there were some very loud people staying in the same building as we were. They finally quieted down after our second call, at 1 am to the front desk. Not happy with that at all. At least our second night was quiet. Had never stayed here and found it to be somewhat claustrophobic in the common areas. It seemed to me that they tried to put the absolute maximum number of rooms they could in a very cramped space. I doubt that we'll stay here again.”

• The mattress was horribly uncomfortable!

“Very crowded area of Pismo beach, so not much on the grounds etc. Typical for the area though. Room was comfortable and charming although not terribly spacious.”

• It was a very nice hotel, room etc.
• The road made room a bit noisy. Closer to beach would be better.

“Very beautiful hotel and rooms. All have fireplace and a cozy atmosphere. Baths are small but do-able. Morning complementary breakfast was done well and was actually good. Friendly staff. Beach side rooms are best but all would be good due to upbeat decoration.”

• Loved the English cottage atmosphere and the fireplaces in the rooms. Spectacular view overlooking the beach. Excellent breakfast included with stay.
• Rooms were a little on the small side.

“This is an excellent hotel for a beach get-away. Hotel staff was helpful, professional, and friendly. Rooms were clean and grounds were well maintained. The theme of the English country cottage was carried out in the lobby, guest rooms, and grounds. The breakfast that was included with the hotel stay was one of the best of the continental variety; with more food choices than the standard fare. I have already recommended this facility to a number of my friends.”

• We upgraded to an ocean view and it was well worth the extra $25 / night. Awesome!
• We were surprised there was no air conditioning, but to be honest we didn't need it. I feel guests should know this in advance though.

“We stayed 2 nights. Wonderful ocean and garden views and I loved listening to the sound of the surf coming through the open bedroom window. The beach made for great exploration and photo opportunities. The complimentary breakfast was an added bonus - quite impressed and very much appreciated.”
