  • It was close to the public transportation lines.
  • It did not have a pool or complimentary breakfast.

“It is a cozy hotel with nice character. It is more of a value for its location than for its amenities.”

  • The location and historical aspect of the boat.
  • The housekeeping was not up to par. Items not
picked up and removed from room.

“It is a comfortable historic riverboat and the rooms are small
especially the bathroom. The location is great and safe for walking.”

  • Historic & beautiful, unique hotel on an old riverboat.
  • Parking was confusing and difficult, had to pay for it with no validation.

“Overall, our experience with the Delta King was great. The room was small, but remember. its a boat. The furnishings and bathroom were all antique, very beautiful and fitting for the Old Sacramento setting. The views of the river at night were great, as well as experiencing old town (not DOWN town) Sacramento. Downtown is a little more sketchy. Old town seems much safer and family-friendly, though. The one drawback to our stay was that the parking was not clearly explained to us by the front desk. No one told us there was a valet until we'd already parked elsewhere, and we ended up paying more for parking than we had to, to a garage attendant that was completely unhelpful and unsympathetic. Other than the parking snafu, the Delta King was great and I'd recommend it to anyone wishing a romantic getaway.”

  • Staying on a river boat was a wonderful change of pace.
  • Parking was hard to find. Valet parking was closed by the time we arrived.

“Fun place with a great river view. Different than a chain hotel. You are staying on a historic ship. No elevators, no ice machine, the bar tender will fill your ice bucket for you. Don't expect all the amenities of a hotel. Enjoy it for what it is. There is dinner theater on board ship during the weekends. We were there when they brought the Delta King into Sacramento years ago. Don't know how they kept the wreck of a ship afloat. The renovation is remarkable we were so pleased to see it restored to it's original grandeur. Not a hotel for families with kids. The rooms are not as big as a standard chain hotel. Showers, not tubs in the bathrooms. A pleasant change made even more so by the room rate. We will return!”

  • Location and history of Delta King.
  • The evening bar tender not friendly, chatting with friends instead of acknowledging new guests to the bar. Kitchen closes at 9 p.m.

“Unfortunately, the first night my room had a terrible noise. The Manager on Duty tried to help but I ended up with a sleepless night. The next day they did move me and promised me they would talk with the hotel manager to compensate (maybe 1/2 price adjustment) for room. Upon check out it seems no one followed through with the hotel manager and no adjustment could be made. Front desk said it was all documented but there was nothing they could do. I would have to write a letter later. I will not stay there again.”

  • It was a novelty experience being on a docked boat.
  • It is in a bad location for business travelers and noisy.

“Great for a solo traveler looking for a novel experience in Old town Sacramento. Hotel is a boat that is permanently docked on the river.”

  • They gave away the room on the river I reserved.

“Hotel staff not that helpful, they tried to charge us for the room we upgraded to, and gave us the cheaper room, restaurant was above average and the only high point of the stay.”

  • Excellent location, wonderful suite.
  • Overbook, but made excellent secondary arrangements when encouraged to do so.

“The delta king is an excellent place to stay. Very good accommodations. Not especially friendly.”
