• Gorgeous locaiton, great restaurants, friendly staff, spa
• A bit pricey but worth it

“This is THE best place to stay in Monterey. The hotel is very luxurious, spacious lobby, valet parking, friendly desk clerks and staff and two great restaurants. When we hit Monterey the first place we like to go for lunch is Schooner's Bistro at the Plaza, they also have an amazing restaurant, The Duck Club where we enjoyed dinner on a day trip to Monterey a few months ago. I loved the Penthouse Spa up at the top of the building with amazing panoramic views of Monterey Bay. Our room was small but very nicely appointed with a comfy, soft bed and very nice bathroom. Love the Plaza! :)”

• Amazing location.
• No a/c!

“It's a lovely place in a great location, but if you are on the inland side, as we were, the lack of a/c is a big issue. We were routinely uncomfortably warm, including when going to bed at 10 p.m. When asked for assistance, we were told we could get an extra fan. Well, in a nice hotel like that, it seems rather odd to be laying there with 3 fans blowing praying for a breeze through an open window. An upgrade would have been $150-200 more per night -- well, we didn't want an upgrade, we just wanted to be comfortable! Isn't that *their* problem? Not in their view. It was "warm for Monterey" that weekend -- well, welcome to climate change. We heard from guests on the ocean side that while there were lovely breezes, the sea lions barked all night. Bottom line, guests need to be able to control the room temperature in a nice hotel.”

• You cant have enough seafood salad

“With thanks to RED BULL, two of my good friends and I recently stayed at the Monterey Plaza Hotel and spa. This was the weekend of the world championship motoGP in Laguna Seca july 8-10 '05. The room service was great, food was great, beautifull rooftop spa overlooking the bay, and the rooms were very comfortable and clean, with spectacular views overlooking the bay as well. The town also has a great night life just walking distance from the Plaza. ”
