• Bed was a little uncomfortable.

• Clean, nicely decorated, liked the rooms, easy to get around, close to restaurants and attractions, close to ocean.
• No tables for the breakfast in lobby.

• It was very clean and had everything we needed.
• The walls were a little thin and you could hear the neighbors quite a bit.

“This hotel was easy to find in Monterey in a row of other motels. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very clean. It even smelled clean when you entered. We were pleased to find a small refrigerator and microwave as well. The bed was very comfortable. The only problem was that the walls may not have been insulated enough as we were able to hear our neighbors and people walking outside quite clearly.”

• The manager was so helpful and nice. I felt very happy about my stay mostly because of his pleasant attitude.
• I would love to have a hot tub outside.

• The front office staff was very gracious and helpful.
• It was a bit run-down and, while the location was safe, it was inconvenient for us.

“This is a standard Howard Johnson's motel. No frills, but a clean room in a safe place. And the gentleman at the counter was very pleasant and extremely helpful.”

• Extra charge for two beds when I booked the room for double occupancy.

• Room smelled like curry/Indian food.

“We were disappointed with this hotel, the room was clean enough but smelled like Indian food because we were directly over the front office and I guess they eat/cook a lot of Indian food in there. The windows of the room were high up on the wall and very few of them at that making the room dark except during the night since the hotel sign was right outside the rooms window. It was a good location but there were lots of others in the same area that looked much nicer.”

• Old fixtures in bathroom.

“This was a business trip so I asked for the quietest room possible which turned out to be an upstairs room at the end of the corridor in the back. The room was clean and quiet and included a table, two chairs, refrigerator and microwave. No complaints at all for this star-rating, and I'd stay here again.”

• There was not a thing I liked about this hotel.
• Dangerous neighborhood, dangerous people lodging in the hotel, sleepless nights due to fights, sirens, screams from outside.

“I chose this hotel for the value, but I regretted so much. This hotel is located in dangerous neighborhood (police sirens all night long until 4 AM), lots of noise from trains and big trucks, people yelling outside, woman screaming next door all night long (not kids-safe at all!), front desk is locked up at night with security. I was traveling with my fiancé and it was the worst part of the entire trip. I would not recommend it to anyone. I'd say less than 5% of the rooms were booked up. Parking lot was totally empty with few not-so-friendly people lodging (living?) there.”

• Paper thin walls, poor distribution of clients. It was not full but everyone was in the same clump of rooms.

• Requested extra pillows, expected to be delivered at room, asked me to pick up at lobby.

“Rating: a typical 2-star hotel. Location: conveniently located near the Del Monte Shopping Center on Munras Ave. Close to shops, restaurants, fisherman's wharf, cannery row. Room: requested 2-queen beds, room layout was wide, but bed blocked access to closet bathroom: nice granite tile floors and marble vanity sink. Shower was nice, hot and steamy just the way I like it. Breakfast area: located at the front lobby, no table/seating area. Tiny muffins, toast w/ jam and butter, cereal, fresh fruit, milk and juice. I had to use tray to haul my food/drink to my room. No pool.”
