• Unexpectedly chic.
• No restaurant; outdated exterior facade.

“Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the interior design because the exterior facade of the hotel looks pretty outdated. Service was good; the complimentary breakfast was great!”

• The decor, the amenities, the staff.
• Parking lot was a little tight.

“We were there for a short time, wished it were longer so we would have been able to enjoy the pool and large Jacuzzi. Staff was very courteous, rooms spacious, upscale decor, so many choices in the honor bar (chocolate-yummy), even provided puzzle games for guests to unwind with. I'll be back!”

“This is a very nice upscale hotel. The rooms are very well equipped with a very comfortable bed. They had an excellent hot breakfast. Free WiFi. Room service.”

• The bed was comfy; liked the desk.
• Carpet is ugly; shower is weak.

“It's trying hard to be this posh nuance hotel when really the target audience and demographic it serves, weary business travelers, just need the comfort not the style. This hotel has some comfort but it lacks service.”

“From the street view, this hotel is not appealing (looks like a 2 star) but as soon as you walk in, you are presented with great modern decor and the rooms are great as well. Aesthetically, from the inside it is a four star and a great place to stay (including location and staff) you just have to get passed your first impression from the outside. I loved my stay and would recommend it to anyone!”

• Very nice hotel with lots of unexpected extras.
• Exterior did not meet the 3-star rating, but inside it was very nice.

“From the exterior, I was a bit disappointed, but once through the frosted front doors and into the cozy lobby, I was pleasantly surprised. Lots of nice extras like happy hour, free business center, and European-style breakfast included. Rooms feature trendy decor with flat-screen TV and modern bathroom.”

• Easy access to freeway; quiet room; linens new and crisp, breakfast buffet very good.
• Room a little tight but not a big problem.

“On a main drag, ugly from the outside, but very nice on the inside, great breakfast with a lot of fresh fruit. Beautiful rooms, funky design and sweet television. Somebody had a good decorator!”

• Not a 3-star location. across from Goodwill, auto parts shops, etc.

“It appears to be a modern conversion of an old hotel building--in a not-so-nice location. The staff was great- the room was small, but nicely decorated. The room's air conditioner was old and did not work well. Having a decent breakfast, gym and pool was a plus. This hotel appears convenient for business travelers - but because of the location and the building itself, I would not consider the full price of this hotel worth the cost.”

• Convenient location, clean and friendly staffs.
• Very small room, old, no central air and therefore it gets too cold or hot, very small rooms and public areas.

“It may be a 3 star hotel, but very old and rooms and common areas are all very small. Not liking the old style air conditioner that it gets either too cold or too hot. Would love to give comments to a 4 star hotel (Hyatts Regency SF airport), have had very bad experience there and very encounter very unprofessional services and staffs.”

• The hotel was appointed with a variety of clever charming details.
• I was originally placed in a room over the pool which was very loud but they moved me right away.

“The Avante was a hip charming hotel. It caterers to the style minded traveler. The rooms had clever items like puzzles, cards, pads of papers with "ideas" printed on it. A great mini bar with wine glasses and shaving kits. The room was tasteful, comfortable and restful, the staff very helpful.”

• A nice room, with a good bed.
• The remodel is not complete; bathrooms are still older (though not bad).

“An older hotel which has/is undergoing a remodel with quality in mind. Rooms are done well, and are comfortable. Extra facilities were not available (pool, spa, etc.) Bathrooms, while not bad, still need some work. Friendly staff.”
