• The hotel room was very cozy.
• $22.00 a day for parking.

“The hotel and staff was very nice. The room quality exceeded our expectations and enhanced our trip to Northern California. The only drawback had to pay $22.00 a night for parking.”

• The staff was friendly and helpful.
• The meal service in the restaurant was awful!

“Nice centralized location. Friendly and helpful staff. The decor in the rooms was dated, however the rooms were clean. Room service was great, however I had problems with meal preparation when I went downstairs and ordered from the restaurant.”

• The location, staff, cleanliness, and overall appearance and impression of hotel were great.
• The restaurant was a bit over priced and you have to pay for overnight parking.

“This hotel was extremely nice and very clean. The location was very central and has a BART station right on the corner which was perfect for us. I was very impressed with the hotel and extremely happy with it. The only things we were not happy with are that you have to pay $26 for over night parking (even being a guest) and the restaurant in the hotel was definitely over priced. We paid $16 for a burger that was fine but nothing exceptional. Those were our only issues, everything else we were extremely happy with.”

• Comfortable beds.
• Ridiculous parking fee. No transport to airport!

“Over all the stay was good. However, the parking fees are outrageous and they don't provide transportation to Oakland airport. That is simply ridiculous! We've stayed at the Hilton, not paid parking, and they provide airport service. You'd think Marriott could keep up. It's about service. There should be a note that you'll have to pay $30 extra for parking!”

• The beds were extremely comfortable!
• Outrageous parking prices.

“Being from the Southern California suburbs, one thing I really had to get used to was the traffic. The hotel was a short distance from my friend's house but it felt like there was a stoplight every 10 feet. The parking fee they charge is outrageous, but if you leave by 8 am you can find street parking without getting a ticket. Otherwise the hotel itself was really nice. I found the bed to be especially comfortable.”

• The location was great.
• Room: miniscule, oddly shaped, Smokey, too small!

“I was shocked when we walked in. the door opened into the bed, the desk hit the bed, the chair was in the only corner; in short, the room was strangely shaped and big enough for a twin bed, but outfitted with a queen and desk, etc. it was fairly horrible. Not to mention that our non smoking room reeked of smoke. The bathroom door swiped against the sink, so it was hard to even get into to. We were really disappointed. :(.”

• Great view of SF from the 13th floor; tasty room service.
• Very expensive to use computer and print; somewhat unsafe location.

“The Marriott was beautiful and right at the Oakland Bart station. The room service breakfast was delicious and the room was well-kept. I loved the view of the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges from our corner room on the 13th floor. I was disappointed that I was charged $8.50 to use the computer for 2 minutes, without even being able to print my boarding pass. My husband and I wanted to get some food at midnight on a Saturday night, and the woman at the front desk advised us not to walk two blocks to the nearest Chinese restaurant. She said it wasn't safe. So we ended up ordering pizza, which took almost an hour to be delivered. Overall, a great hotel experience!”

• Nothing not to like - room was small but comfortable.

“Hotel was upscale, clean and very conveniently located. Staff was friendly and professional without exception. No wait to check in or out. Overall, a very nice place to stay.”

• Staff was excellent & hotel was very clean.
• Breakfast at the restaurant was very expensive.

“The staff was the best I've every encountered. The hotel was very clean & the upkeep was excellent. The weekend rate was comparable to other hotels, but the weekday rate was extremely high.”

• Rooms were clean and attractive with new furnishings.
• About 15 minutes to airport/no shuttle/self parking is $22.

“When I booked this hotel I wanted to stay at Oak airport but was booked 15-20 minutes from the airport. Other than the fact that there was no airport shuttle and self parking was $22, where valet parking was $23, I was pleasantly surprised with the Marriott Oakland.”

• It was pretty nice and in a nice area of downtown Oakland.
• The info in the hotel room said that there was an indoor pool, but there was no indoor pool.

• It is a Marriott.
• The room I got was probably their oldest, most used, least maintained.

“I love Marriott. I thought the price I paid was exceptional and I had to remember that I had paid a lesser price as they gave me their least desirable room with the least amount of updating and the worst view in the house. I am thinking the room is generally saved for employees or something as even right down to the towels (which were rough and worn thin) the amenities were not up to their normal standard.”
