“A beautifully appointed hotel in the center of San Francisco fun. One block from Union Square, many restaurants and theaters - all within walking distance. Friendly and helpful staff, everything was perfect. Parking in SF stinks, but there is a garage only two doors down that makes it a convenient walk, even with luggage. I can't wait to go back for another trip!!”

“In all, we had a good experience. The hotel is under construction right now, and I felt like they used that as the token excuse.”

“Hotel 480 is a great hotel in a great location. The mall is only a few blocks away. The cable car right on the corner. Restaurants in walking distance. The room was awesome. There is nothing I can say wrong with the hotel.”

“Depressing, drab and above the noisy cable car on Powell St. also up a steep hill from Union Sq so not good for disabled or seniors.”

“I saw the view; it was a great view of the pattern of bricks used to build the next door building. Very horrible service, very pompous attitude to the guests, And they tried to take advantage of my age when im not just some dumb 22 year old but a businessman, so in their f**king face. What ever you do don't use them.”

“The valet parking was convenient and only $43. At check-in, we were immediately upgraded to the 28th floor and to a king bed without having to request it. We had a beautiful view and a couch in the sitting area. In person, the staff was very helpful and friendly, way beyond the call of duty. The bar was comfortable and well stocked, and offered a small appetizer buffet, average in interest and quality. When the front desk found out it was our anniversary, they sent up a good bottle of wine and chocolate. The only thing we can complain about is that we were rudely treated like second class guests when we called to confirm our reservations.”

“Staff was nice and helpful and location great. When 12 noon arrived they sent staff to clear us out of our rooms. Also fitness room was being rehabbed and so unable to use the facility.”

“This was a great value, very comfortable, comparable to some 4-star hotels. My only gripe they are remodeling about six lower floors. If you are business traveler and need to come back to your room to work or nap during the day, you can hear loud drilling, hammering, sanding, etc. (power tools) all the way up on the 21st floor through the duct system, as if it were next door. Should be a non-issue when the remodeling is finished. I'd go there again.”

“I found this hotel to be a good value. I stayed here with a friend for a couple of nights before moving a few blocks away to the Hilton on O'Farrell. The Hilton was slightly nicer, but it was three times as expensive and the location didn't seem any better. Hotel 480 used to be the Crowne Plaza and I believe the transformation into Hotel 480 has barely begun. For example, I think the Hotel 480 sign is not permanent and maps from the concierge still label the hotel as the Crowne Plaza. The Hotel 480 property is not swank. It is maybe a 2-1/2 star hotel, but it deserves three stars because it is is in a good, albeit touristy location. If cost is important to you, maybe this hotel deserves four stars. It is a no-frills basic hotel (nicer than Motel 6, on par with a Holiday Inn) across the street from the Drake Hotel, walking distance from China Town, the Tunnel Top, Knob Hill, shopping, transportation and probably much more, including the Bay. The concierge at Hotel 480 is helpful. The cafe doesn't look like much, but who wants to eat at a hotel cafe when the whole city of San Francisco is at your doorstep? On the con side, Sutter Street is not a thoroughfare for cabs, and we often had to wait a long time to hail one. Also parking at the hotel was about $50. We parked in a. public garage nearby for $35/day, which is not cheap either. Also, the internet access $10/day IIRC required a cord and was not wireless. Plus, there was no minibar with water and booze. Lastly, I think it is possible that my room isn't as nice as many of the other rooms.”

“Our room was very large and the only visible handicapped area was the railings in the shower and a shower bench found in the closet. Other than that the room was clean and decorated very nicely. Because of the incident with the room above us. The hotel compensate us with free room service and movie. Also we were given 3 breakfast coupons in the hotel restaurant. I would definitely stay at Hotel 480 again.”

“Hotel 480 is just off of Powell on Sutter Street. There is a cable car stop on the corner that goes to Fisherman's Wharf. It's a pleasant short walk to Union Square. The doorman, front desk, bellman and maid are all friendly and helpful. The rooms are small, but comfortable. The bathrooms don't have much counter space but the offered toiletries and shower pressure are relaxing after a day in the city. The room was dark and quiet at night as we slipped into our comfy beds.”
