“Very nice location near Union Square, Macys, Levi's, Market Street with big Shopping Center. Staff is very friendly, only Standard possible, no points for "Star wood Preferred Guests", etc. Had a King Bed, no scenic view, just to the next wall. "Heavenly Bed" was heavenly fantastic! Especially after 11 hours flight, etc. Bathroom could be renovated. But everything was very clean.”

• Price and the heavenly bed are good.
• Everything you touch comes with a charge and/or is expensive (parking=$50/day!).

“Older hotel, no bar due to renovation. Room was fairly small but fairly recently dressed up and clean. Nothing to write home about overall and everything is extremely costly.”

• Upgraded us for free. Great bed.
• Breakfast was not very good quality.

“The hotel was great. Free upgrade, great rooms, clean, your typical Westin. The only complaint I have is that the breakfast was not very good a not worth the $25 price.”

• The location of the hotel provided GREAT views of San Francisco.
• This hotel is very noisy and some of the staff is "curt".

“The best thing about the Westin St. Francis is that it is centrally located and sports many great views of the city. However, it's very noisy and some of the staff I've encountered is quite rude!”

• Modern feel to hotel, maintained well. Great location to get places within the city.
• Parking was pricey, the pillows were not comfortable, and loud housekeeping throughout the morning.

“Overall great location and cleanliness of hotel. Parking for guests should be less and free wireless internet throughout the hotel would be nice instead of a newspaper every morning. Although we stayed at a four star hotel, our room was not on the same level as the other rooms.”

• The location was excellent. It was very close to all the muni transportation systems.
• Street noise was a little loud. The windows seemed to not deaden the noise very well.

“I would strongly recommend this hotel for your trip to San Francisco. A very classy place to stay. The location is great to get to anywhere in the city. The staff was very pleasant and very helpful. We didn't eat at the restaurants in the hotel due to the high cost, especially compared to other places in the city.”

• Location was amazing, room in new tower was fantastic.
• Room in old tower was cramped, creepy, small, miserable! I asked to be moved and was much happier in the new tower.

“The location right on Union Square was excellent. We would go shopping, drop our bags back in our room and then head out again. Close to great bars and restaurants, too. At first my standard room was in the old part of the hotel which felt at little too "The Shining" for my taste. Maybe the suites over there are nicer, but it was really small and rundown. I asked for a newer room and they upgraded me to the new tower -- totally worth it! Beautiful normal modern hotel room, comfy beds, great bathroom. Staff was friendly, lobby bar was ok, and the room service breakfast was outstanding -- really tasty food!”

• The hotels history was displayed in a boutique way, and the rooms were above average.
• There were some imperfections about the room, a couple of cracks in the wall. Needs restoration.

“Overall, this hotel was great. The location is second to none. Union square is the perfect center to most of San Francisco. As you walk up, the hotel is unrecognizable. The lobby is spacious and well decorated. The staff is excellent. My girlfriend and I got to the hotel at 9 a.m. after an early plane flight, expecting to drop off our bags and walk around the city until the 3:00 p.m. check-in time. Even though the hotel was moderately busy, the staff checked us in at 9 a.m.! He also gave us free Starbucks, a free upgrade, and a discount at one of the hotel restaurants. Wow! The room itself was different for a Westin, I could tell that it had not been renovated in some time. There were one or two small cracks on the wall behind the door, but besides for that, it was fine. The bathroom was very spacious and with any Westin bed, it was very comfortable. I enjoyed the new LCD TV as well. All in all, we had a great stay.”

• Room was beautiful- and huge- twice the size of other hotel rooms. Loved the Heavenly bed!
• Bathroom fixtures were a little old, but still clean and nice.

“Excellent location- right on Union Square! Our room was gorgeous and huge- easily twice the size of other hotel rooms. And Michael Mina Restaurant was amazing!”

“This hotel has an older original section and new section. I stayed in the older section, which I didnt feel was 4 stars. It was nice, but old. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at the St. Francis, perfect for this 10th anniversary trip.”

• The rooms were very comfortable and the location to sight see was wonderful.
• The staff was not always friendly. The room was very warm despite using the air-conditioning.

“I was somewhat uncomfortable with the lack of courtesy from a couple of the staff. For the most part I enjoyed the location. The quick to go food counter left a lot to be desired.”

• The front desk staff. He was excellent.
• The room was tiny, no air-conditioning (record heat in SF)!

“There is no way this hotel is rated 4-star, per my room/experience. The air conditioning did not work; it was so hot we couldn't sleep. The carpeting was so worn that it was literally bubbling off the floor underneath as you walked.”
