“The hotel has good personality, and the rooms were charming. But some rooms were very small. there were no amenities, like a restaurant or bar, which made it more of a place to sleep not hang out.”

“The hotel itself was fairly nice - although very old. The non-draining tub and sink were my biggest gripes with the facility itself. Getting help for transportation needs and restaurant suggestions was like pulling teeth. We also asked for a bottle opener and it never arrived to our room after they said they'd bring it. Little things like that were very disappointing. Overall, it was ok, but not great.”

“If you want a nice boutique hotel in the heart of San Francisco shopping, Kensington Park is an ideal place to stay. The room was very nice and the bed was outstanding. The staff was polite and helpful and the historic tile, woodwork and wall painting is eye-catching.”

“The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Perfect location in Union Square. The rooms were inviting and comfortable. My suggestion is: since there is a restaurant next door, the hotel should provide a menu and information about the availability of take out or delivery for a late night meal from the restaurant.”

“This is a beautiful hotel, but doesn't compare with Kimpton or Joie de Vivre hotels. When I arrived I was told I would be staying at a sister property. I dug my heals in the sand and said no, and a room was found. Very few TV channels are offered. There is no restaurant associated, so I used waiters on wheels for dinner. There was no shower cap, robe, or extra bar of soap in the shower.”

“This hotel is very conveniently located close to Union Square. It is a few blocks from Chinatown and close to a Muni station ticket kiosk. There are good restaurants and shopping within walking distance and since it's so close to Market Street, you can get anywhere using public transportation. We had a wonderful romantic getaway and would stay there again in a Heartbeat.”

“This hotel far exceeds my expectation. Our group of multi generation of 6 ages range from 6 years old to 79 year olds, so it is kind of risky, we didn't had adjoining room but was closed enough. Because of the great location, no one complains when we walk to Chinatown or Union square for dinner. Lots of things to do just steps away from hotel. Friendly staffs, great location, we have trouble with some loud guests across from us, the staff took care of it, they moved the guest right next to them in a different room. The noisy guests quiet down right away. So I appreciate how swift the staffs took care of business. This hotel is probably not suitable for toddlers or babies as the space is quiet small. Another thing is parking cost was around $40 and it takes 20 min for them to bring it back. You don't need the car in the city, but it is a pain if you have to get something out of your car. So take everything you need before you hand over the car keys. My sister left one of bag behind in the hotel, I left housekeeping a message, the next morning I got a call and they have my bag, since my daughter lives blocks away, she just picked it up for us. I guess we have to go back. I highly recommend this hotel for first timer to SF.”

“Kensington Park is in a great location central to everything we wanted to see & do in San Francisco. The room was a good size with a good size bathroom and a flat screen TV. The hotel had a couple of draw backs: 1. No fitness facility. We had to walk a few blocks to their sister hotel to work out. 2. No restaurant. 3. A lot of street noise.”

“It was a great place to stay - on Post near Powell and in walking distance from the Powell BART Station (1/2 hr ride on the BART from SFO). They served tea and sherry in the lobby every evening and coffee and tea upstairs each morning. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. The staff was very courteous and helpful. They even offered to lend us umbrellas if we needed them.”

“The location was great; very convenient and not too noisy for being in the middle of Union Square. The front desk personnel were incompetent at their job. We called the day before to request double beds, we were told not to worry about it, that there was plenty of rooms available, but when we arrived we were told there was only king beds available. We asked for directions and the night attendant printed out an address, phone number and a description of the restaurants, not directions! The day manager was not helpful at all when we had a special request regarding getting help with our luggage at 5:30 am the next morning.”

“Nice hotel in a excellent location, clean rooms, but a huge downside is the lack of A/C. I will stay there again only if they install A/C , otherwise there are probably other hotels in the same location with better services.”

“Nice location and good ambience but windows are so old that it sounds like they're open. We heard all the garbage bin activity throughout the night. And then they ran out of coffee so early.”

“We liked the location of the hotel. The decorations were very nice. We had comfy bed linens and a nice large bath. However it was quite warm when we were visiting so our room was hot and stuffy. The staff offered an electric fan and the window did open a little which helped and kept us from having to leave to stay elsewhere. We also wished there had been a fan in the bathroom. It was too warm and muggy in our room after showering. We did enjoy the bathing products that were available, nice aroma. I don't think we can recommend the hotel as the lack of air conditioner and bath vents makes for being too uncomfortable.”

“If you end up on the ninth floor or above, this hotel probably improves a lot. It was clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the location is good, but I wouldn't call this a three-star boutique hotel. There is no room service and my 6th-floor room had a view directly into a neighboring building, so I lived in darkness.”
