• Great location.
• No fitness facility; no restaurant; a lot of street noise.

“Kensington Park is in a great location central to everything we wanted to see & do in San Francisco. The room was a good size with a good size bathroom and a flat screen TV. The hotel had a couple of draw backs: 1. No fitness facility. We had to walk a few blocks to their sister hotel to work out. 2. No restaurant. 3. A lot of street noise.”

• Electricity went off and on for two nights.

• Staff service, location, afternoon tea.
• No continental breakfast.

“It was a great place to stay - on Post near Powell and in walking distance from the Powell BART Station (1/2 hr ride on the BART from SFO). They served tea and sherry in the lobby every evening and coffee and tea upstairs each morning. The room and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. The staff was very courteous and helpful. They even offered to lend us umbrellas if we needed them.”

• Wonderful location.
• Ice machine on our floor was not working and it was difficult to find the ice machine two floors up from us.

• The decoration was modern and pretty.
• The bathroom/shower was old and disgusting.

“The location was great; very convenient and not too noisy for being in the middle of Union Square. The front desk personnel were incompetent at their job. We called the day before to request double beds, we were told not to worry about it, that there was plenty of rooms available, but when we arrived we were told there was only king beds available. We asked for directions and the night attendant printed out an address, phone number and a description of the restaurants, not directions! The day manager was not helpful at all when we had a special request regarding getting help with our luggage at 5:30 am the next morning.”

“The hotel has a personality of its own. It was very centrally located to much attraction in union square. I would suggest this hotel ton anyone!”

• The location was excellent, and the rooms were decent.
• The bed was not very comfortable and there was no room service.

• Nice and clean and excellent location.
• No air conditioner and lots of noise from the street.

“Nice hotel in a excellent location, clean rooms, but a huge downside is the lack of A/C. I will stay there again only if they install A/C , otherwise there are probably other hotels in the same location with better services.”

• Very loud/old windows allow sound. Ran out of coffee at 8 am.

“Nice location and good ambience but windows are so old that it sounds like they're open. We heard all the garbage bin activity throughout the night. And then they ran out of coffee so early.”

• We liked the decor and the location.
• No fan in bath. No air conditioner. Very warm.

“We liked the location of the hotel. The decorations were very nice. We had comfy bed linens and a nice large bath. However it was quite warm when we were visiting so our room was hot and stuffy. The staff offered an electric fan and the window did open a little which helped and kept us from having to leave to stay elsewhere. We also wished there had been a fan in the bathroom. It was too warm and muggy in our room after showering. We did enjoy the bathing products that were available, nice aroma. I don't think we can recommend the hotel as the lack of air conditioner and bath vents makes for being too uncomfortable.”

• friendly staff
• had to keep curtains drawn because view was directly into another building

“If you end up on the ninth floor or above, this hotel probably improves a lot. It was clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the location is good, but I wouldn't call this a three-star boutique hotel. There is no room service and my 6th-floor room had a view directly into a neighboring building, so I lived in darkness.”

• I love boutique hotels and this one rates up there with the best
• would prefer to have in room coffee maker

“We love the location to shopping, theater, music venues we go to and restaurants we like. Easy access to Bart and the hotel exudes an old world feel. the sherry in the afternoon was nice. Very comfortable lobby and the pianist was wonderful.”

“Parking was very poor. I understand this is a hard area but the hotel should have provided info on alternatives. The staff did NOTHING. No help with bags or info. It was an old run down place. Do not stay here.”

• The concierge was marvelous
• Room was small and dingy. Needed refurbishing. Needed new fixtures in bathroom.

“Stay was pleasant mainly due to lobby, which unfortunately was very cold because there was not a double set of doors to the street. Room was barely adequate. In dire need new furniture, carpet, and linens.

Not up to the usual 3 star for the area.”
