“There are much better valued hotels out there than this one. Even though it was smoke free, the room smelt of cigarette smoke. We had trouble finding a park every day even though we had paid for it and were in a room right next to reception. After flying 17 hours to get to the city, all we wanted was a quiet room. Next time we will stay near SFO and travel into town when we want to go there. Having spent 3 months in SF a few years ago, we know the town and that accommodation is at a premium. There are a lot of other, better hotels/motels out there to stay at around the Bay area. We decided to try somewhere different but it was a disappointing start to our holiday around California.”

“Not in a great neighborhood. Within walking distance of the wharf area. Pretty run down. Staff was very impolite. Charged for parking.”

“It's definitely a 2 star, was clean, but did have a few funky things going on. Nothing really in the immediate area to do/see/eat at.”

“Other than the fact we had to try to check in to the hotel 3 separate times because the rooms were not cleaned till after 3pm and the room.”

“The lodge was convenient to many attractions; the room was large and comfortable but nothing fancy. Parking was available for a reasonable daily fee. Continental breakfast was minimal. I would stay there again.”

“This motel was well located near bus transportation and Fisherman's Wharf. But the management does not pay attention to details like having working hair dryers, coffee makers or air conditioning (which was needed). Though they were provided in the room. They just did not work. It had no bathtub which we would have liked.”

“The hotel itself (when I finally did get to my room) was fine. The room was spacious, the beds were comfortable (great pillows), the view was nice and the air conditioner worked great. The parking was an issue as they have very limited space that you have to pay for on top of your room charges. I requested a room with two queen sized beds. When I got to the hotel they gave us one double bed. They said for an extra $22 I could upgrade to a room with two beds.”

“Good hotel for the price and location. I did not like paying to park at a hotel where I'm staying as guest and I do not know if this is common among San Francisco hotels.”

“For San Francisco it was fine because we spent most of our time out and about. It was walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf, Cable Cars and if you're up for a little walk, the North Shore area and China Town. No rooms with views and the rooms were clean but a little old and run down and the cleaning products used for the room were a little unpleasant. Overall. it worked out fine for our needs.”

“Parking is limited but staff assists getting parked. Tour bus parked all night in front of motel makes access to garages very difficult.”

“The hotel is located close to Downtown and ocean, as well as close to nice cafes, restaurants in beautiful city district and has easy access from airport. Hotel and furniture in rooms are quite old.”

“You are definitely making a trade if you stay in this hotel. Yes, it's a great location, right in the middle of everything. Close to Fisherman's Wharf, although not within walking distance as it is advertised to be. You have to pay $12.50 a night for parking and the parking lot is tiny, not big enough for all the guests' cars. While we were squeezing into the last teeny spot one night, we pooped off our mirror. The beds are very uncomfortable and old along with everything else in the rooms. The rooms are outside entry, which because it's on Lombard Street, it sounded like our bed was in the middle of the street. If you're looking for a decent price downtown SF but don't care what the room is like, this is a great place, just beware of the parking fee. For us, it was worth it for the location, but don't think we'd be staying there again.”

“This was a very big disappointment and had to be tolerated. We frequent San Francisco and have stayed at numerous other accommodations with an occasional minor let down, but this was the first like this. There was no pool or restaurant. It was 12 blocks from wharf and trolleys and it was not worth the outrages price of a taxi or driving and paying twice for parking on a daily basis.”

“It's a very clean hotel with a great location to the tourist areas, close enough to walk if you like. The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful and our room was very quiet. I enjoyed my stay there.”

“This little motel has a great location and effective, efficient front-desk staff. It claims to be best of the area. If so I'd hate to see the runner-up, let alone third or further. The room entry doors (we were inside four rooms for comparison) all had cracks/leaks around them wide enough to let light in all the way around - also let heat (or air conditioning) in and out. Oh, and noise - from traffic on one of the most heavily traveled thoroughfares, and visitors coming and going - freely entered. The heater/cooler in the first room was above average in noise - not impossible, but not quiet; we moved to another room. That heater ended up being closer to a 747 on take-off roll. We left it off for the night. I asked the office the next morning if they could get it serviced ASAP (it was Sunday and I knew it would probably be another day). To our amazement, they changed it out during the day; the new one was as quiet as it was supposed to be. Monday night, with an almost empty motel, a couple of young ladies (very late teens, early twenties) were moved into the room next door. With the walls nearly as thin as a profit margin we could near most of their conversation (well into the night) and the TV as well as if it were in our room. At a little after 11 we called downstairs and asked if they would intervene in the noise - there had been at least one bang on the wall equal to slamming a drawer, and one knock that sounded loud enough that I got up to answer our door. I don't know if they did, we didn't hear the phone ring (that would have been easy to hear). Would we go back? Maybe. It certainly wouldn't be for quiet/sleeping. It would not be to allow time and opportunity to work on a project (it was a business/pleasure trip - but there was no desk or other amenity to enable working on a laptop). It would be because the location was within 1 block of a major bus route for easy access to all points of the city, and excellent.”

“We traveled to San Francisco for a foot race. The hotel was convenient to the race. The area was pleasant with close restaurants and lots of shops. I would be very likely to stay there again.”
