“The bathroom was dingy and in need of repair. Missing outlet covers and broken outlets. Wires strung across the room.”

“It was very shabby but seemed clean. No Lobby at all but they did let us into our rooms at 1030 am. Excellant location to busses. Never felt like an unsafe area. Several good restaurants near.”

“If you are looking for an affordable, clean, basic, conveniently located, safe place to stay in SF this is it! Just blocks from the Exploratorium and Union street Shopping. Easy access to public transportation. Free but limited parking. Even a small heated pool! Small fridge, kitchen counter and coffee maker a plus.”

“A cheap hotel. If you can get this hotel cheaper enough then worth a try. Basically good just to sleep here. I would not hang around the room, a little depressing. Could do with a good refurbishment. Small pool if you needed to cool off but not really an attraction. Good location between Chestnut and Union street shops. Good buses at door and nearby.”

“The Alpha Inn is a definitely a place if you want to enjoy San Francisco on a tight budget. The rooms are spacious and the hotel is centrally located. It is a 5 minute bus ride to the Golden Gate Bridge and walking distance from the Palace of Fine Arts. The neighborhood is safe (except for the crazy lady that lives on Divisadero Street. Don't park in her driveway). The only downside to this hotel is the noise from being on a main street and the limited parking. If you are used to city life (like me) then the noise is no problem, if not (like my wife) then you may have a hard time sleeping. If you get parking, leave the car there for the rest of the time in San Francisco. The hotel is on Lombard St, so public transportation is more convenient. It is a two star hotel with a lot to offer. My family and I highly recommend it and plan on going back again.”

“I liked the location, it was unbeatable. The front desk guy was so rude, but otherwise, it was fine.”

“Generally, we were happy with the hotel. However, the ice machine was broken, and since we had a lot of food with us (one reason we picked this hotel with a fridge in room) we had to buy ice across the street when we check out so we could keep our food cold. Also, the only heater in the room was a space heater with broken controls. It was ok for a while, and then it would turn on and off every few seconds. We didn't realize this until we went to bed, and figured it would be warm enough in a small room. However, we woke up freezing. In theory, this is a decent hotel, but we definitely had some problems.”
