  • Location was convenient, friendly staff, and very good breakfast.
  • Surfaces in room (bathroom counter, nightstands, etc.) were not wiped down after previous guest stayed in the room.

“The Embassy Suites San Rafael was located very close to the freeway, but not close enough to be noisy. Staff was friendly and helpful and we breakfast was delicious! The lighting in the room is terrible - it looks like a prison. I think the energy saver bulbs they use have a blue or cool tone that makes creates a very dull, cool light. Second, as we were brushing our teeth, we noticed that the counter in the bathroom had not been wiped down. We found caked on soap near the faucet and water rings all over. We wet a hand towel and wiped it down ourselves and these things came right off. It was evident that the maid didn't bother to do it at all. Last, there was a wet spot in the carpet in the corner of the room. It must have happened shortly before we arrived (which was late at night) because by the next day it was dry. We didn't want to change rooms, so we didn't notify the hotel staff. Other than these things the hotel was nice and location was great.”

  • Convenient parking, check in, check out
  • charged me for water in room that I didn't use. They removed easily though.

“I would definately stay here again. The hotel was clean, convenient and had very friendly staff. Check out was at noon which was nice not to have to rush out of there in the am.”

  • You can't beat the free breakfast.
  • Nothing.

“Stepping into this conveniently located. Quiet hotel you discover a beautiful setting, complete with tropical plants, running water and brightly colored koi fish. The rooms are always clean, the staff always friendly and you can't beat the free cooked to order breakfast, or the managers reception with full open bar. I always stay here if I can.”

  • Great sheets.
  • Public spaces are dated and showing their age.

“Property is showing its age. Breakfast has been substantively downgraded since last visit 2 years ago. Public spaces were very cold. It felt like there was no heat at all in the breakfast room and it was below freezing outside.”

  • It was perfect for the price and for the evening.
  • It was a bit off the beaten path.

“We were totally pleased with this hotel. It was awesome for the price, and the staff was terrific. We had room service late and it was wonderful. We would do this again in a heartbeat.”

“There were a bunch of teens partying and being loud, maybe it was just for that weekend/week that person was staying there. My family and I didn't have any problems at all. It was quiet, besides a little bit of screaming from the small children at breakfast in the morning. Overall, my stay was good. Complimentary breakfast the next morning as well.”

  • Breakfast there is terrific, staff serving breakfast are very friendly and efficient. They are highly appreciated.
  • Room cleaning service is not good enough.

“Too many group teenager guests, who occupied swimming pool facilities, noisy most of the time, and carelessly excluded other family guests who want to use same facilities. This is one major drawback to our stay at this hotel this time.”

  • Great breakfast. Easy and free parking. Central.
  • None.

“Central for vacation to Napa, Sonoma, Healdsburg, Sausalito, Tiburon and San Francisco. Also the more quaint areas of San Anselmo and finally easy to get to ferry to SF. We are from this area and knew this would be an ideal central location. Great breakfast to start the day.”

  • Large bed. Quiet. Clean. Comfortable.
  • No complaints.

“Very professional friendly staff. Nice room - with a view. Two-room layout with extra sitting room removes the sleeping area from interior courtyard noise.”

  • Trash cans overflowing in parking lot, room service dishes in hallway floor.

“Good location. Great price with your service. Very nice hotel and staff. Outside garbage and room service dishes needed to be cleaned up in a timely manner. Breakfast was so . Ate at 0800 and then rush was on. Warm eggs and spuds didn't get it. Overall I would stay there again.”

  • The convenience of the hotel is unsurpassed! Close to everything in the Bay area!
  • Breakfast buffet was very crowded on Sunday morning. Need to get there early.

“This is the second time we've stayed at the Embassy Suites. Its location is so close to everything in the Bay area. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the rooms are comfortable and clean. The full breakfast buffet is a nice touch, but can get rather crowded on weekends. Eat early in the morning to avoid the crowds. There does tend to be a lot of families with small children, so it we would not recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway. We awoke to the sound of a baby crying at 5 AM, so keep that in mind;) We love its proximity to the Bay area and would recommend this hotel for that reason alone. We will surely stay there again.”

Cleanliness:[5] • Staff:[3] • Location:[3]

  • Cooked breakfast (although time was inconvenient).
  • Nickel and dimming hidden charges. No free WiFi in rooms (extra $10/day).

“Not a bad hotel but hidden charges are inappropriate in a competitive environment ($10 a day for WiFi is inexcusable when almost everyone else offers it for free and it costs a hotel peanuts to provide). Manager's reception was a joke -- just drinks, popcorn and Tortilla chips. Inconvenient room locations -- like going through a maze to get there. Kids everywhere monopolizing computers, laundry room, hallways, etc.”

Cleanliness:[1] • Staff:[1] • Location:[10]

  • Large room, safe, plenty of parking.
  • Staff is rather not good.

“The embassy suites is a fine place if you are over 65 or have 5 kids, but for a single male traveler, it only offers isolation and no possibilities of entertainment.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[8] • Location:[7]

  • Nice rooms.
  • Very noisy.

“I hate the Disney like theme in the lobby of this hotel. There are kids everywhere on the weekend, running around barefoot in wet towels. The Happy Hour is like a cattle call. I'm sure families love it, but if you are on business or a get way, do not stay here. There is no sound proofing between rooms so you have your neighbor's noises too.”
