“It was a nice stay. I was expecting two standard size beds in our room, which I didn't get. I tried to upsize, but was told they didn't have any. I told the counter person that I understood every room was two double-size standard. I was told otherwise. It was somewhat of an inconvenience since my son had to sleep on the floor.”

“If you're lucky enough to get a large room with a good view, it's not a bad place to stay. The Continental breakfast was ok, nothing to rave about. I think the entire hotel should be nonsmoking if it isn't already, that parking should be free, along with Internet service. Come on, keep up with the rest of the smart hotel chains in Portland and don't nickel and dime your customers to death.”

“It looks great from the outside, and the lobby is most impressive. The room itself was tiny, cramped, and the hotel was generally lacking in most things I find desirable in hotels. There was no pool available, because it is only open for a short season. There was not even a bathtub in the bathroom! Fees - The parking fee ($18 normally) was ludicrous, but can be avoided by parking on the street or in a separate parking lot and using the bus system. Meters are free after either 4 or 6 pm, I don't remember, until 8 in the morning. Parking at meters is a good idea. The high fee for internet service is absurd, but can be eluded as your average Wireless laptop can pick up several separate wifi locations and connect to them at no cost. Such pathetic fees make you nervous to use the paper cups or sleep in the sheets, lest there be another hidden fee behind it.”

“This was a first time staying at the Double Tree Hotel. Since it was a three star hotel, I was expecting something fairly nice. My husband and I walked into the room, and was very dissappointed in how tiny the room was. We had to wait for each other to walk by the bed which was crowded by a desk across from it and barely room enough. It was unbelievably small. The bed was comfortable though. There were bus loads of kids arriving at the hotel for some school function, and the kids were coming from all over the state of Oregon. It was so crowded with kids running all over the hotel, and we had to wait for a very long time to get on an elevator. At night we could here them running down our hall then making so much noise in the room next to us, which had a door that opened to that room, making me believe the sounds were more magnified. The lobby was full of school kids coming and going. We put up with the kids for two days. It was a turn off. Then the final thing that really bothered me was the hidden cost of parking. For the honor of parking at the Double Tree Hotel, we were charged $18.00 a day. That was the first time I was charged for parking at a hotel. I will never stay at the Double Tree again. I was excited at the beginning, but everything was such a turn off. The nice thing about DoubleTree was that I didnt stick around the hotel for long. It was horrible.”

“I would definitely stay here again. The location was great - lots of little shops and great restaurants within a few minutes walking distance. The front desk staff was extremely amiable and helpful. And, you can't beat delicious freshly made cookies! The hotel was undergoing renovations while we were there, so there was a lot of Reno-related mess, and consequentially, the appearance of the hallways and other common spaces was very lackluster. The main lobby was quite nice, though. Also, the housekeeping staff was very loud first thing in the morning, and I had to ask them to be quiet (they did). Other than that, the only thing that would have made our experience better would have been glasses of milk with our cookies.”

“I'm very disappointed with this doubletree hotel. I've been many of them, but this is the worst. Dirty room, dirty bathroom, towel smells very bad, room is small and smells bad too. I can't believe there's a used soap bar in the bathroom; the cleaning staff just put a new soap bar box on top of the used one. That's totally disgusting. Will never stay there again.”

“Great, especially great value. Once the pool and Hot Tub are fixed, it shall be a Premier Downtown Portland establishment.”

“Nice facility but the standard rooms are 2 or less star rooms. I had to pay $15 per day for an upgrade to a 3 star room. $9.95 per day for internet (I talked them into free with upgrade) They charge for parking $18. For one night $9. The rest of the nights.”

“We went to Portland for a Bruce Springsteen concert. The hotel was walking distance to the Rose Garden and a fine place to spend the night.”

“The first room smelled musty and had a big leak in the bathroom from an overhead pipe. We called and asked for a new room, which the staff was very nice about. Our second room was ok, but old and worn. We stayed at the Holiday Inn a few blocks away and it felt much newer. This room did not have microwave/refrigerator (which H.I. did). Family-friendly, gave us chocolate chip cookies when we checked in. Main concern: the hotel needs a remodeling/update ASAP.”

“Small room (again), coffee maker didn't work nor did the replacement maker. Loud neighbors after the bars closed woke me up, I called and complained to the desk; security took 40 minutes to respond.”

“On a previous stay we found this hotel excellent. This time, the room was small, the floor lobby and the other hallway on our floor were under construction, and there were no safety bars in the shower.”

“This is a beautiful hotel in a great location, but the first night was very long because the mattress was in horrible shape and was very uncomfortable. We asked to be moved the next day, and received a room that was much smaller, but the bed was much better. The hotel also charged an extra $9 per night for parking which we hadn't expected.”

“Okay hotel but costs of parking, dirty basin covered with hair from previous guest, and broken thermostat makes me rate this hotel as Fair. While an upscale brand and pretty good location, the considerations mentioned above makes me seriously consider whether to choose this place again.”
