  • Super convenient to MAX and bus system.
  • Broken toilet seat, soiled carpet, and in need of paint.

“Great access and location, but sorely in need of up keep.”

  • Nothing.
  • Right next to the MAX line, like jets taking off outside your window all night.

“Sad, but try to sleep with the noise and loud grumbling never expected I could be awake that long , before sleep. Cheap in every way, and I regret it and will never be that cheap again.”

  • The location.
  • The bathroom was not clean when I entered room for stay.

“No microwave. Traffic noise. Friendly staff. Plenty of hot water. It was quite in the hotel during the week. Staff was very informative about general area and places to visit. Room was not totally clean, bathroom floor was dirty, bed looked like used sheets.”

  • Cheap, and the beds were decently comfortable.
  • Had trouble with room key, and so did others.

“Kind of run down, but not too bad for the price. Beds were comfortable and we didn't hear too much noise (a bit from the room above, though). Cracks in bathtub tile, stuff like that, and no fan in bathroom for getting shower steam out. The 2nd night our room key didn't work (forcing us to walk out of the parking garage, out around the block, and in the front door) - we didn't realize this had been the problem and went up to the room and the key didn't work, and after we got it fixed mentioned it to the only people staying there we talked to and they had the same problem but had been given some fishy reason - don't store it near your cell phone, etc. Anyway, not a bad deal, good location if you're doing something in the area, etc.”

  • Nice and helpful
    day time
    staff only, that I experienced.
  • Day staff was nice, moved me and was perfect!

“If you're tired don't let the staff stick you on the street side/MaxTrain! It vibrates slightly and of course it is loud. Also I, finally, noticed that the sliding door was not sealed and letting, not only the cold 30 degree air, but the noise was extra loud because of this!”

  • Staff was great.
  • Outdated.

“Felt the room needed alot of TLC-- Curtains barely hanging on and at places had melted onto the window; Carpet was torn and lumpy in places, this place needs renovations.”

  • Staff was friendly and helpful, also to others I saw in the lobby.
  • Having to go across the street for internet.

“Convenient location, courtesy guest parking was nice. Lobby staff were friendly and helpful. Courtesy internet was appreciated but a little inconvenient having to cross the street to get it. Overall good.”

  • The location of the hotel in the city and the friendly staff.
  • The carpets in the elevator, hallway to the room and in the room needed replacing.

“The hotel is in a great location near public transportation. The room was a decent size; however the carpets needed to be cleaned/replaced. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Overall it wasn’t a bad place to stay for a young couple such as my husband and me.”

  • Location.
  • Everything else.

“Old and worn out. I would not recommend this unless you are looking for a cheap place with no amenities. The rooms are dark and dingy, very noisy, and way out of date. Even the coffee is awful! Many other hotels in the area that appear to be nicer.”

  • It was cheap.
  • It was somewhere you go in a hurry.

“It wasn't all that clean looking and it was right by all the loud buses and in down town.”

Cleanliness:[1] • Staff:[5] • Location:[8]

  • Convenient location.
  • Very dirty.

“It is an old, dirty, decrepit hotel. The only redeeming quality is it's location.”

Cleanliness:[2] • Staff:[10] • Location:[9]

  • The view or downtown Portland and the mountains.
  • The elevator, carpets and hallways were dirty and rundown.

“An ok place to stay if you're looking for a step up from a motel 6, request a room on the opposite side of the Max train, that side is much quieter and has a view. My room was clean and comfortable but the other areas of the hotel were dirty and rundown. I would stay here again if I had to.”

  • Great price for the location.
  • Outdated lobby area.

“Located near downtown without the outrageous downtown prices. $10 cab ride from the Pearl District for 3 people. Easy to find. Old but in fairly good shape. Not a place I would take someone for a romantic time in Portland. Business yes. Three Army buddies partying in town. Cheap place to stay before flying out the next day.”

Cleanliness:[2] • Staff:[5] • Location:[3]

  • Desk clerk friendly.
  • It did not smell good.

“Good location. Very poor parking - underground seemingly not too safe. Desk clerk friendly, but knew nothing about Portland. Room large - ok. Very bad smell throughout.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[6] • Location:[9]

  • Great location and fair price.
  • Limited parking, housekeeping ignored the "do not disturb" sign.

“Because of location and price, so my expectations were low. The motel was clean and not too noisy. The AC worked great and for the most part, the hotel staff was helpful with information.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[8] • Location:[9]

  • Great location. Great view from the window.
  • Interior, elevators and hallways very warm due to weather and lack of centralized air. Very old.

“Great location. Very old, no frills. Inexpensive. Nothing special. It met our needs.”

  • Best Location around!
  • Very rundown hotel. This hotel is just worn out!

“This is the best hotel if you don't want to spend big bucks for a room and just want to sleep there. The location is excellent! The Tri-Max is just outside the front door. You can get anywhere in Portland from here and it is less than 30 minutes to the airport. The rooms are much bigger than Motel 6 and the staff is wonderful, but this place is indeed old and worn out. DO NOT stay here if you want to "enjoy the hotel". For the price savings I will stay here again.”
