  • Close to services.
  • There was some kind of a youth conference there this weekend - noisy.

“Excellent.”

  • Nice decor in rooms.
  • No indoor pool, bad neighborhood.

“Nicely remodeled rooms, but paper thin walls. I thought we would get out of town for Mother's day and go stay at a 3 star hotel and swim with the kids. However, there was no indoor pool (outdoor pool closed in May) and the kids couldn't even take a bath because the tub would not hold water. Huge transvestite convention during the weekend we were there. There was almost no parking except not so safe lot across the street. My daughter is young so the large dressed up women didn't warrant any questions. We were within driving distance to home, so we left for home after 90 minutes in the room. Big disappointment for all of us.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[2] • Location:[9]

  • River front.
  • The staff first gave us a room that was already occupied by a very large man!

“Beautiful venue - horrible service. Would not allow early check in (asked at 1:30 and told check in is at 3). When we were checked in and entered our room, it was already occupied by a large man in bed! What a surprise! We went back to the desk and they apologized and gave us another room. No coffee in the room so my husband went downstairs the next morning to get coffee at 7:15. No coffee in the lobby and when he went to the dining room and asked for coffee for the room, he was ignored by two wait staff. When we checked out at 9, there was coffee available in the lobby. Beautiful venue - horrible service!”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[9] • Location:[6]

  • Beautiful lobby and setting on the ocean.
  • Poor part of town not safe for walking no shops.

“This is an old grand hotel. The rooms are large, but a bit tired looking. It is located in a poor part of town where it is not safe to walk around in the evening.”

Cleanliness:[6] • Staff:[3] • Location:[10]

  • Location and restaurant.
  • The staff were unprepared to help visitors.

“We had ants in our room and insisted on being transferred to another room. The staff was unpleasant and blamed us for having food in the room. There was a microwave and refrigerator. What were they supposed to be for?”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[8]

  • Comfortable beds, bath and body works soaps and shampoos.
  • Housekeeping staff does not start until 10:00, room not cleaned until after 1:00.

“Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable beds. Nice room amenities including refrigerator, microwave coffee pot (all neatly stored out of sight in an armoire). Bath and body works soaps, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion! Older looking hotel from the outside, but rooms appear to be updated and remodeled - so don't judge by the outside appearance. Only downside is that housekeeping staff does not start until 10:00 a.m., each day the room was not cleaned until about 1:00 p.m. or later which interfered with our schedule. The housekeeping staff, however, was fabulous.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[9] • Location:[9]

  • Convenience.
  • Smell of room, Stated non smoking but I have my doubts about that.

“Good Hotel but not in any way a three star I would give it a Two Star due to the age of hotel and a remodel is in its future. Would be a great hotel for a stop on a road trip and the view of the hotel being right on the river has its qualitys that some might look for. Great staff and a pleasant experience overall.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[6] • Location:[6]

  • Very friendly staff, the hotel was located in a safe place with things to do in walking distance.
  • The room was a little cramped.

“A polite family friendly hotel with shopping and entertainment within walking distance.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[8]

  • Clean and comfortable rooms.
  • Small beds.

“Clean, attractive rooms. Pillows were plentiful but kind of small. Beds were fairly comfortable. The TV in the room was small, old and channel selection was sparse. Coffee maker in the room was a nice touch. All in all a positive stay.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[8] • Location:[8]

  • Beautiful location on the Columbia River.
  • Very noisy surrounding area with planes and trains at all hours of the night.

“Hotel was nice as expected. However, the first room they gave me was totally inappropriate. The next room was OK but the outside environment was very noisy at all hours of the night. Very near train tracks that support the port of Vancouver with switch engines blowing horns all night. Some airplane noise with departing flights from Portland International Airport. The plane noise was OK after 10:30-11 PM nightly.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[5] • Location:[9]

  • The room was very nice.
  • The hotel obviously catered to conferences, so our young family was practically ignored for our 2 nights.

“The Red Lion Vancouver, WA, is a nice hotel. The room was very nice and the amenities are as well (restaurant/lounge looked good - outdoor pool was closed). However, when checking in, we were not told about anything that the hotel had to offer, simply directed to our room, "up, and to the right." This hotel caters to conferences and business travelers, so it felt like our family (with 2 young kids) was merely tolerated rather than welcomed. Maybe the staff was just having a couple off days?”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[9]

  • The room was updated, clean, and comfortable.
  • Floors in rooms sloped. I bit unnerving. No flat panel telly.

“The original Red Lion Inn is a comfortable, updated hotel sitting on top of the Columbia river within a short walk to Downtown Vancouver and Ester Shorts Park - and 10 - 20 minutes to most of Portland. Don't forget the little bit longer spectacular drives to The Columbia Gorge and Mt. Hood. So comfort, views, and location shine at this hotel.”

  • Great location, comfortable.
  • Wi-Fi signal was weak in the room.

“This is a nice hotel with clean, comfortable rooms and a terrific, convenient location on the Columbia River.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[6] • Location:[8]

  • Clean, Good location, nice beds.
  • Weird, sort of long walk to my room.

“The hotel was fine. I have stayed in better and I have stayed in worse. However, I was able to stay there at a very low rate and I made my reservation on the day of my stay. The hotel seemed clean and fairly updated. I did have a room on the ground floor right by the hotel drive way which wasn't great, but I got there late and just kept my curtains closed.”

  • The beds were very comfortable.
  • The staff was very slow to solve problems.

“Pretty pricey for what you get an old hotel very close to the train tracks. A 3-star hotel should have a heated pool! the beds were very comfortable and gave you lots of pillows! Not recommended for families with small kids!”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[4] • Location:[6]

  • It was in Vancouver.
  • There was nothing to do there.

“I was very disappointed in the hotel. It seems as though it may have been a great hotel 20 years ago but is now outdated. They only had may be 8 stations you can get that at Motel 6 which is definitely not claiming to be a 3 star hotel. They had an excuse for a fitness room that had a couple of treadmills in it. I also was very surprised that they didn't serve breakfast--once again, even motel 6 usually at least has muffins and coffee. I have stayed in several hotels over the last few years and this was the first time they haven't had at least that-usually the 2.5 or better hotels have full breakfast and some kind of reception in the evening-whether it be cookies and milk or going all out with cocktails and food. Overall I was just very disappointed in the lack of amenities in this hotel.”

  • Balcony on 2nd floor attached to all others - anyone could access your room.

“I've stayed at this hotel before several times and it has never disappointed. The quality has always been excellent and the service great. I would definitely return and/or recommend it to others.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[8]

  • Even though there was a conference going on, it was quiet and we were able to sleep well.
  • It was a little tricky to find, but it was not that hard.

“We would definitely stay here again. It is a nice location on the river and the room was quiet even though there was a conference going on and the freeway was not far away. It was a great value!”
