“We had stayed at the Benson a few nights before. We liked the Monaco's bedrooms better but the Benson has such a magnificent lobby with so much more going on the piano bar, proximity to great restaurants, etc.”

“The decor of this hotel is fun and funky. Loved the leopard and tiger striped terry robes in the room rather than plain white. The lobby seemed to be a gathering place in the morning for coffee and in the early evening for wine - the decorating drew you into the room because it is unique.”

“Little extras like free coffee and wine with music during the afternoon add to an already superlative experience at the Monaco. A helpful staff, great front bellmen who know the city, free papers, great rooms and an excellent restaurant attached makes this hotel a rank above the norm.”

“Generally a cool place, in close proximity to tons of walkable stuff - although getting there by car is a huge pain because of all the one-way streets & traffic restrictions. The wine hour (happening as we checked in) looked like barely controlled chaos with people, dogs, a violinist, kids playing Wi -Fi I was in a social mood it probably would have been great. The attached restaurant has some bad reviews, but room service breakfast was prompt & just fine, valet parking is expensive at $30/day.”

“The hotel has a beautiful decor and a very friendly staff. The rooms have everything you need, but are a little cramped. If you are a business traveler or are in town for a play this is a great hotel to stay at.”

“It is funky classic hotel with friendly staff and comfortable accommodations. Only went to dining room for breakfast, but it was fabulous. Wine bar in evening was nice and staff was so accommodating. If you are allergic to pets, you may want to stay another place!”

“This is a lovely hotel in the heart of downtown Portland. It's within walking distance to everything (depending on your inclination to walk I suppose). High price on parking (the smart park around the corner costs a 3rd of what Monaco charges and is more convenient, park there. $15 razors conveniently for sale if you forgot your own $4 snack packs of Ritz cheese and crackers, give me a break. Even airlines aren't that audacious, yet.”

“A fun place to stay. Not the usual 4-Star level but the quirkiness works. I would stay there again. Comfortable beds and nice to have the DVD/CVD player in room.”

“The Kimpton Monaco is located in a great part of Portland, near many fine establishments. Their MAX transport is only 2 blocks away. I doubt that you would find a more helpful and friendly staff, in any city. The free happy hour in the fire lit lobby is a really a plus. It was really a great experience for my wife and I.”
