• It was clean and comfortable.
• Nothing historical or unique about the property that would make me wants to return.

“The coast paramount Portland, or is a Downtown hotel. It was clean and comfortable, but without any historic or unique features which would distinguish it from any other Downtown hotel focusing on business professionals.”

• Location and staff were great.

“Our room was comparable to a Motel 6 not a 4 star hotel. We had to upgrade and pay several hundred more dollars a night for a 4-star type experience.”

• Very good location.
• The rooms and especially beds, pillows, chairs and furniture.

“First, very unresponsive customer service staff now we've been waiting over ten calendar days and five business days waiting for the "management" response, while we completed the trip and were stuck in a hotel with dramatically lower customer experience.”

• It was in the heart of Downtown Portland with easy access to various interesting locations. Great view from 12th floor!
• The shower had black mold around the fixtures, early cleaning service & noise intrusion, expensive menu.

• Excessive parking charge; limited TV channel selection.

• It was clean and quiet.
• The tub and shower did not drain and I was standing in my dirty water plus older/ needed remodeling.

• No continental breakfast or other nice to haves.

“Would have been nice to have a continental breakfast provided. Great location. Room was nice and had a great view. Glad I only paid 60% of the full price.”

• The location is perfect for experiencing Downtown Portland; max and the Portland streetcar are very close.
• The fitness room was extremely, like a sauna, despite repeated complaints from guests.

“Close to everything, courteous staff, and roomy rooms (lighter shower curtains would be nice), and great toiletry freebies, nicely appointed room (bed a little hard, though', and internet is $9.95), good restaurant (dragon fish): the paramount is a very, very good place to stay in Portland.”

• Unfriendly, cannot get cab, no service.

“I would not recommend this hotel to anyone expecting a 4 star experience. Staff is apathetic. Food is horrible. Bar is like going to a seedy neighborhood lounge. There is nothing about the room or decor to say anything more than Shilo Inn.”

• Front desk staff.

“The paramount was decorated just before the current trend of the modern rooms, white sheets and top notch beds, and is now looking dated. The bed was quite hard, and they need to ditch the bedspread and replace it with a down comforter. As of 3:00 pm the room was not made up, and the front desk clerk was not particularly enthusiastic about doing something about it when I called down to complain. Housekeeping did respond however, but I think they had missed this room on their daily roods.”

• Poor quality staff. High fees for parking and extras. No free HBO.

• The hotel was easily accessible in Downtown Portland; close to many local favorites. Restaurant was delicious (coupon available in lobby).
• They were extremely "strict" with their check in time; many travelers were stuck sitting around in the lobby and common areas, waiting for 4 pm.

“We would be pleased to get this place again. The lobby level sushi restaurant and bar were convenient, with good food and friendly staff.”

• Staff was kind and attentive. Good price for the location.
• Wifi should be free. Room was lacking in 4 star level amenities.

“For the price and location, it was a good place to stay. The staff was lovely. With a four star rating, however, I was expecting a little more upscale. For example, small, super cheap blow-dryer, no fan in the bathroom, no complimentary bathrobes. No little chocolate on the pillow. To me, those are the sorts of things that separate 3 stars from 4. And, c'mon, these days, why should you have to pay for wi fi, anymore than you have to pay for running water?”

• Clean, nice ambiance, 24 hr. Fitness gym, dragon fish restaurant, fast service.
• Registration counter person was a bit flip in some of his responses, was a bit of a turn off. Everyone else was great.

• Generally friendly and clean. Staff polite but not as efficient as desirable.
• Four star amenities missing, robe, and paper at door daily, prompt valet parking.

“The Paramount would rate well at a 3-3.5 star hotel, but needs to brush up on a few things to rate a fourth star. The restaurant was a disappointment, tables not as clean as they should be, rice that was dried out (i.e., hard) by time it was served, etc.”

• Lovely interior with an exceptional restaurant and great location.
• My room looked out over construction site and was awoken at 2 am with industrial garbage collection.

“Lovely, historic lobby, rooms updated and very comfortable. The Dragon fish restaurant is a wonderful place to eat, although the rest rooms are out into the lobby and down to the lower level. A bit inconvenient, but all in all, the hotel is beautiful and the location for getting around on foot excellent. I would stay again.”
