  • Cleanliness and staff.
  • Having to pay to use a gym and Internet, most hotels have these features standard.

“Great hotel, yet a a business traveler I need access to Internet and prefer to use a gym after returning from a client, this hotel did not offer these amenities without an extra cost.”

  • Rooms and service were above average. Wine tasting Friday night was great.
  • Did not know there was a refrigerator in the room, because it was hidden in the closet.

“Nice place to stay.”

  • The grounds were beautiful.
  • Although the security doors leading to the outside were appreciated they were loud when they closed.

“Nicely upgraded 50's style motel with buildings connected by a covered and enclosed walkway. Beautiful grounds in a nice residential area with easy access to shopping and restaurants.”

  • Anything above a place to sleep incurred an extra charge. Even to print a boarding pass in the business center was $0.10 per minute.

“The Flamingo may have once had a luster that appealed to those desiring a quality resort, but that luster has long ago faded.”

  • Proximity to vineyards.

“Excellent Hotel for the price. Staff was very friendly. Room was very clean and well kept. Would stay here again!”

  • Nice location, central to our wine country activities.
  • Dirty, dated, cumbersome parking lot.

“I can't tell if this hotel has a retro vibe on purpose or if it is just a really old hotel that has never been updated and now they are playing off of the retro feel of the obviously dated premises.”

  • They were able to put me on the ground floor.
  • it was built in the 50's and even though had been upgraded it still had old feeling.

“It was ok. Beds were not very comfortable and had stains on the floor.”

  • Location great. staff nice.
  • No elevator. Room was old, tired, smelly and small. Leaking frig. TV was small and old. Spider/cob webs. Pool was full of day camp kids.

“No elevator. Room was old, tired, smelly and small. Leaking frig. Spiders/cob webs. TV was small and old not a flat screen as advertised. Pool was full with day camp kids. Hotel room needs upgrade. I would not recommend this hotel. Flamingo is 2 star, not 3 1/2 star. See Hilton/Fountain Grove/Doubletree for comparison.

  • The room smelled awful, was not very clean.

“The room smelled awful and the carpet looked dirty and very worn, it needs to be replaced. The bathroom smelled like urine. I cleaned it but it still smelled badly. We opened the door to air out the room but the air conditioner on the hotel roof was to loud so we closed the door. When we woke up half the room did not have power, no lights in the bathroom and no TV. Tried to call office but phone did not work. When we checked out asked staff about power, she said that PG&E was having problems but the lights were on at the IHOP that was directly in front of hotel. The grounds and pool looked nice. Hope to never stay at this hotel again. Awful experience all around. Hotel should not be rated as a 3 star.”

  • Staff was pretty friendly and helpful.
  • Rooms were small and old. Pool was not heated. Restaurant was closed.

“The hotel relishes its 50's ambience. However, it looks like it was furnished in 50's decore and hasn't been touched since. The room was small and was appointed with old furnishings (again, that "50's ambiance"). The bathroom was so small my wife and I could barely fit in at the same time. The restaurant services (lunch) were terrible - - had to eat in the lounge and were the only diners there (I knew why after eating). The main pool was not heated and was unusable. The one free hot tub seated a total of only 9 persons for a resort acommodating hundreds of guests.”

  • Room was clean but very dated. Comfortable bed.
  • Room was very hot when I checked in. It took about three hours for the AC to cool it down.

“It was clean and quiet but definatly not a 4 star hotel. More like an old Holiday Inn.”

  • Built in 1957 and refurbished as new.
  • Rooms and bathrooms in particular are small.

“Architecturally interesting with modern updates and high quality beds/linens. Rooms have low ceilings (relatively) and tiny bathrooms but otherwise tastefully decorated. No elevators for second floor rooms.”

  • The Flamingo was cool.
  • It was old, scruffy in parts, and badly in need of updating.

“Interesting, and it worked for me.”

  • It was a good clean place.
  • I wish they had better bed and free access to computer.

“It was an average good clean place.”

  • Terrific swimming pool.
  • Their rooms are not quiet. You can hear coming and going all night.

“The hotel is working on its image, but it still needs a major remodel. Parking is difficult in the areas they are remodeling and I had to walk quite a distance from my room to my car. Their beds are OK, but too soft for me with a bad back. I have always preferred the beds.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[9] • Location:[9]

  • Convenient, comfortable.
  • Tacky.

“Overall a pleasant experience. The '50's' decor was tacky and staff wearing flamingo shirts was over the top - but was family friendly and the desk staff was great.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[8] • Location:[9]

  • Remodeled, clean rooms. Huge pool.
  • No security locks on doors.

“As we pulled up, we were very nervous about the hotel. It looked a little outdated. The front desk staff was not outgoing, but they were courteous and efficient. The room was very nice. Recently remodeled with down comforters. Very clean. The pool was fantastic --Olympic sized with entire extra areas that were from 1.5 to 3 feet deep. Perfect for little ones. The only disappointment was the lack of security locks on the door. So, when the 2 year old was awake in the night, she was able to open both doors -- one to the hallway and one to the outside.”

  • Great theme, historic landmark from the 50s, renovations ongoing. Wonderful huge pool and grounds and adjoining health spa/club.
  • Registration staff seems green.

“What a great surprise. I learned that it's been a landmark forever and everyone has fond experiences to tell. Wonderful new treatment and renovations to this 50s style resort. Huge, gorgeous pool, in a nice, hilly neighborhood. Clean, adequate room and lovely restaurant. The lounge Karaoke night was very interesting and entertaining and seems young locals like to hang out and sing there. Some good talent around here. Will definitely return here on my next trip.”
