“This hotel was comfortable enough but nothing special, really.”

“I was tempted to sleep on top of the bed in my clothes. The room, while having a lovely view, was very stinky and the breakfast offered as part of the package was mediocre. This is a run-down property that maybe had its hay day several decades ago and is being minimally maintained.”

“It is an old hotel on the water-literally. Open your back slider and you are staring at boats docked. Great location-close to everything. Office staff was friendly but the hotel was barely one step up from a campsite. Needs a renovation badly. Wall board heating (not kid friendly)Carpets filthy & disgusting. Interior looks like an old dingy motel in a bad part of town. Clean towels and linens. Free wireless. Personally I would not stay there again. I can;t believe this is a Red Lion Inn. Never had such a dumpy room with Red Lion Inn.”

“This is an old Red Lion Inn that has not been maintained well at all. The general decor is a throwback to the 70's.”

“We enjoyed our stay at the Red Lion Inn Astoria. The view from the balcony over the harbor was wonderful. We enjoyed sitting out and watching the fisherman bring in their cath in the morning. The room was clean and very comfortable. Bathroom was light and had everything that we needed. We would be happy to stay their again.”

“I'd read some negative reviews about this hotel so was a little concerned. We had a good experience here. The room was comfortable. Furniture is dated but given the Priceline rate, nothing to complain about. The immediate area could use some revitalization but having the view of the marina was nice.”

“Its located on the waterfront. The place looks a little outdated from the outside, but the rooms are nice.”

“Most friendly staff we have ever had. Almost all of their rooms have a river view. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome and appreciated.”

“Red lion is a comfortable moderate hotel room was very close for me to parking lot bottom floor
I loved the marina if
I cant be on the ocean at least hearing the water is soothing.
I wish
I would have known there was a restaurant on site traveling alone
I dont like to venture out much at night no one told me of restaurant.”

“We enjoyed the view of the Marina and the Columbia River from our room. The rooms were clean; however their were a lot of cobwebs and spiders on the balcony. The hotel had a nice continental breakfast, with plenty of tables and chairs for everyone. This provided almost a comfortable and unrushed breakfast.”

“The location on the Riverwalk and the Riverfront was wonderful. The facility was a bit rundown from what I would expect from a Red Lion.”

“Nice hotel. It is a little dated, but a great location and our experience found it very clean. Astoria offers a nice diverse selection in restaurants, walking paths, location, historic homes, etc. Good location and a good base for coastal excursions. Not many amenities, but what's there works.”

“The only thing I didn't like, was that big black and orange spider in the bathroom on the floor. I was wondering how it got in there, couldn't sleep that night thinking that there might be some in the bed. Other than that everything was great! The people at the front desk could have been friendlier!”

“This hotel was great. I enjoyed the veiws from my balcony and my three year old son enjoyed the complementary breakfasts. There is no bad room, all the rooms have a decent view. It's close to most of the state parks and fishing routes in that area. The staff was all friendly and helpful. It was a great stay.”

“This place was family friendly. The room was clean, the view was great, the staff was casual and okay, not really going out of their way, but I have encountered much worse in the way of customer service. The outside of the hotel was okay, not too pretty, but okay. There are garbage cans around, and there were flies where there were garbage cans. That should be taken care of. The breakfast in the morning that is included was okay. I have special dietary requirements, so I was limited in what I could eat. But my husband enjoyed his meal, and I guess the waffles were pretty good. My daughter had a great time. The only thing that I would warn about is to families with small children. Each room has a terrace overlooking the Columbia River, and the metal bars on it seem very wide. I believe that our three-year-old could have slipped through them. Just to be on the safe side, we were very careful of this. There is water below most of the little terraces, (there is a marina), so that is a little scary. Other than that, this had a great location, and it was just what we were looking for! I would recommend it to families, business people, and even to a romantic couple on a budget.”

“Friendly people, but the outside of the building needs great repair, at least a new paint job.”

“This is a great location, facing a Marina, but the hotel itself is in need of some upkeep. The wind howled at our entry door due to the weather strip being in disrepair. But the continental breakfast is excellent, and the rooms are comfy (especially the beds!).”
