  • I liked being able to watch the boats from our balcony.

“This hotel was comfortable enough but nothing special, really.”

  • Lovely view from the balcony.
  • The room was very stinky/stale smelling.

“I was tempted to sleep on top of the bed in my clothes. The room, while having a lovely view, was very stinky and the breakfast offered as part of the package was mediocre. This is a run-down property that maybe had its hay day several decades ago and is being minimally maintained.”

  • On the water and close to everything
  • Old & needs renovation desperately Carpet disgusting

“It is an old hotel on the water-literally. Open your back slider and you are staring at boats docked. Great location-close to everything. Office staff was friendly but the hotel was barely one step up from a campsite. Needs a renovation badly. Wall board heating (not kid friendly)Carpets filthy & disgusting. Interior looks like an old dingy motel in a bad part of town. Clean towels and linens. Free wireless. Personally I would not stay there again. I can;t believe this is a Red Lion Inn. Never had such a dumpy room with Red Lion Inn.”

  • Large room, balacony over looking the ocean.
  • Breakfast was the same all three days.

“Good place to stay with access to your room through the parking lot.”

  • Large rooms, good view.
  • Filthy bathroom floor and moldy shower.

“This is an old Red Lion Inn that has not been maintained well at all. The general decor is a throwback to the 70's.”

  • Overlooked the harbor, loved the sounds of the boats.
  • No onsight restaurant.

“We enjoyed our stay at the Red Lion Inn Astoria. The view from the balcony over the harbor was wonderful. We enjoyed sitting out and watching the fisherman bring in their cath in the morning. The room was clean and very comfortable. Bathroom was light and had everything that we needed. We would be happy to stay their again.”

  • Nice location, adjacent to marina.
  • Hotel is a little dated.

“I'd read some negative reviews about this hotel so was a little concerned. We had a good experience here. The room was comfortable. Furniture is dated but given the Priceline rate, nothing to complain about. The immediate area could use some revitalization but having the view of the marina was nice.”

  • I like the view and the place was pleasant.
  • No complaints.

“Its located on the waterfront. The place looks a little outdated from the outside, but the rooms are nice.”

  • Very friendly staff. River view.

“Most friendly staff we have ever had. Almost all of their rooms have a river view. Everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome and appreciated.”

  • Middle location for wash and ore coast.
  • Wanted to be closer to ocean when
I started looking ,accidently pushed wrong button ended up ok.

“Red lion is a comfortable moderate hotel room was very close for me to parking lot bottom floor
I loved the marina if
I cant be on the ocean at least hearing the water is soothing.
I wish
I would have known there was a restaurant on site traveling alone
I dont like to venture out much at night no one told me of restaurant.”

  • The view; boardwalk along the river; good restaurants in the area.
  • From the road this hotel looks rundown, but what you actually see is some other building next to the hotel. The hotel itself is hidden.

“We enjoyed the view of the Marina and the Columbia River from our room. The rooms were clean; however their were a lot of cobwebs and spiders on the balcony. The hotel had a nice continental breakfast, with plenty of tables and chairs for everyone. This provided almost a comfortable and unrushed breakfast.”

  • Beautiful location on the Columbia River with nice balcony with plenty of sitting room.
  • Facility was a little dingy; staff seemed young and untrained.

“The location on the Riverwalk and the Riverfront was wonderful. The facility was a bit rundown from what I would expect from a Red Lion.”

  • Location, great views.
  • The red Lion is a little dated, but clean, The Continental Breakfast seemed to run out most morning by 9:00 to 9:30. Staff seemed a little overwhelmed at times, but.

“Nice hotel. It is a little dated, but a great location and our experience found it very clean. Astoria offers a nice diverse selection in restaurants, walking paths, location, historic homes, etc. Good location and a good base for coastal excursions. Not many amenities, but what's there works.”

  • Loved the view, great location, great price.
  • Spiders in the room were not okay with me! It was huge!

“The only thing I didn't like, was that big black and orange spider in the bathroom on the floor. I was wondering how it got in there, couldn't sleep that night thinking that there might be some in the bed. Other than that everything was great! The people at the front desk could have been friendlier!”

  • Staff was friendly and helpful! Great stay.

“This hotel was great. I enjoyed the veiws from my balcony and my three year old son enjoyed the complementary breakfasts. There is no bad room, all the rooms have a decent view. It's close to most of the state parks and fishing routes in that area. The staff was all friendly and helpful. It was a great stay.”

  • The view was great, even from the end room that we had.
  • I thought that they had a pool and Jacuzzi.

“This place was family friendly. The room was clean, the view was great, the staff was casual and okay, not really going out of their way, but I have encountered much worse in the way of customer service. The outside of the hotel was okay, not too pretty, but okay. There are garbage cans around, and there were flies where there were garbage cans. That should be taken care of. The breakfast in the morning that is included was okay. I have special dietary requirements, so I was limited in what I could eat. But my husband enjoyed his meal, and I guess the waffles were pretty good. My daughter had a great time. The only thing that I would warn about is to families with small children. Each room has a terrace overlooking the Columbia River, and the metal bars on it seem very wide. I believe that our three-year-old could have slipped through them. Just to be on the safe side, we were very careful of this. There is water below most of the little terraces, (there is a marina), so that is a little scary. Other than that, this had a great location, and it was just what we were looking for! I would recommend it to families, business people, and even to a romantic couple on a budget.”

  • Price was good.
  • Outside needs some work.

“Friendly people, but the outside of the building needs great repair, at least a new paint job.”

  • Beds are extremely comfortable.
  • No restaurant on site.

“This is a great location, facing a Marina, but the hotel itself is in need of some upkeep. The wind howled at our entry door due to the weather strip being in disrepair. But the continental breakfast is excellent, and the rooms are comfy (especially the beds!).”
