  • The hotel was had a great location in the city, and the price was great.

“It was a cozy hotel for the price. Parking space was horrible as well as the outside lights on the facility.”

  • Absolutely nothing.
  • No Hot water. Dirty. Roach Motel

“The Hotel is not as pictured. It isn't near any decent place to eat. Rooms are dirty. They allowing smoking in none smoking rooms. The room smelled like urine. Would never recommend it to anyone.”

  • With the living room, kitchen, & 2 bedrooms, it was exceptionally roomy.
  • Too much noise in the middle of the night from certain other guests.

“The hotel is well located: not that far from the airport, and also not that far from central Anchorage. Every unit is basically clean and offers plenty of room, so that even with 4 guests in the unit, you're not crawling over each other. The hotel might rate a one diamond in the AAA tour book It would be good if there were elevators to the 2nd and 3rd floors. It was difficult getting enough linen for our party of three in our unit, and there was virtually no utensils, and no dish ware, for the kitchenette. Further, the neighborhood in which it was located offered no opportunity for walking to a nearby restaurant or diner of any kind.”

  • Good spacious room.
  • Sleepy manager started a fire overcooking popcorn and started a fire alarm at 2 AM.

“Not a good location. Neighborhood gangs in downtown Anchorage make you feel unsafe. Nearby construction activity is disturbing.”

  • 7 minutes from the airport.
  • Too far from the city center and other amenities. Had to catch a cab.

“Friendly staff. Good for a stop over only. You need to catch a taxi to get to the city center. Approx cost $12. each way.”

  • Staff was really helpful with a rental car problem we had.
  • The hotel is kind of drab and on a busy street.

“The Royal Suites hotel is not very royal, but it is kind of sweet. There are two separate bedrooms so one room can serve two couples. At 105 per room, this is the best value hotel we've found in Alaska. It's a good value, simple hotel.”

  • Price was reasonable.
  • No utensils in the kitchenette, Shower curtains used for front draperies. This place is a dive.

“The only saving grace of this hotel was the price but that is questionable when you consider the overall quality of the place. Missing door knob, plastic shower curtain used as the front drapery, no kitchen utensils in the kitchenette. One of the worst hotels I've stayed at, ever.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[8] • Location:[10]

  • The staff were friendly and helpful.
  • Understaffed. Office closed at checkout. No dependable airport pickup.

“The amenities of the hotel were ok and I liked the room setup. Cleaning staff were a little lax. Upon arrival, shuttle not working and had to catch taxi, which they paid for. Office was understaffed - had to shutdown office to shuttle people to airport on our departure day. This left others needing to checkout in a pickle. Coffee pot was always dry. Other than those negatives, which may be excessive in some eyes, I had a good experience.”

  • I could get a room when most places were sold out.
  • Seedy part of town. Owner only makes coffee in the morning.

“The hotel is on the edge of Spaniard, in a fairly high traffic area. The hotel is older but was fairly clean inside. The room was stocked with the bare necessities. I was happy to find a room on short notice during one of the busiest weekends of the year. Police were busting a hooker in the parking lot on Saturday morning. The doors had 3 locks on them to attest to the part of town the hotel is in.”

  • 2 room apartment gave us plenty of room; would have been appropriate for cooking meals.
  • Hotel staff was a little abrupt, not extremely helpful.

“The hotel was clean and very convenient to airport. It looks like an apartment complex converted to weekly/monthly stays with some nightly guests. Although we stayed in a 2 BR apartment with 3 guests, there were only 2 sets of towels. When I asked for a 3rd set of towels, the desk clerk only gave me a 3rd bath towel which she had at the front desk, never providing hand towel or 3rd wash cloth. Overall, it met my expectations and was much roomier than I expected.”
