“Family owned and run motel. Very cheap for Alaska where you have to just about double the prices you would expect to pay in the lower 48. Clean and warm. Little bit shabby. Strong showers.”

“The hotel offered services such as a wake up call, which never happened. Their parking was too small and cramp, to the point where it would be easy to get a finder binder by mistake. They also had parking in the back, which would make it incontinence for those you are on business. If there was a rating I would rate them as -10 for being dysfunction, but a 5 for being close to the airport. They also had a kitchenette in their rooms, which can be good for many who would use it, so for that I give a 4.”

“We were desperate to find lodging within a range that justified us not making five additional trips of 147 mi. each plus wear/tear. You always had to sit on the less than comfortable bed to watch TV - no chairs whatsoever. It's in a part of town that made you wonder if everything in your car was going to be there in the morning or even if the car was going to be there in the morning! If we had not been desperate, we would not have even considered staying in this hotel.”

“This place is dangerous! They left the door of my room open all day while I was in Kenai on business. I returned at 11:30 PM and the door was propped open. I called the front desk and they said they would send someone right up to check for stolen items and possible intruders - no one ever showed up by 2:05 AM when I finally finished this review and went to sleep. I will never come back here and recommend that no one ever stay here. My room was only partially cleaned and the place is dirty.

“The hotel is located in Spenard an area of town with much crime. The hotel is very old with narrow long hallways. The hotel did not look or feel clean. The bed and bathroom were clean but the overall appearance was not good. I did not stay at this hotel but purchased another hotel for my stay in Anchorage. I recommend this hotel be removed from your list.”

“The hotel manager was very rude and did not provide any service when I complained about not receiving any bath towels during my entire stay. Did not feel secure in this neighborhood or hotel. The outside doors were left ajar and the back parking lot was cluttered with junk, cigarette butts and darkly lit. The hotel lobby did not have any cream for coffee and there were crumbs on the counter that had not been cleaned all day.”

“I cringed as soon as I saw that the old Eagle's Nest hotel. The hotel appears to be under renovation, however it is apparent that is being done as cheaply and unprofessionally as possible. The walls are paper thin, the room was not very clean, and the heating system made noise all night long.”

“It seemed that they had started to remodel the room, but with very poor quality fixtures and poor workmanship. The room was dirty and did not smell very nice. One of the pillows on the bed was so filthy, we moved it as far away from the bed as possible. Compared to the Best Value Inn and Executive Suites that we stayed in last week in Anchorage this was very disappointing. There was not a continental breakfast and we were told that they only have that available in the summer. This is probably the poorest quality room that we have had in over 10 years of staying in hotels in Anchorage.”

“I was surprised when the mgmt charged me $10 for an extra bed. I had two children with me. The emergency exit door alarm went off several times during the night and would stay on for a long time. Making sleep very difficult. There was no continental breakfast.”

“A very old and run down establishment left over from an era gone by. Tile floors throughout the rooms is very bad on the feet. Antiquated stove with a small fridge with a freezer overflowing with ice build up definitely made you want to eat out. The overall construction was very poor with ill-fitting tiles on the bathroom walls, exposed plumbing, and afterthought fire sprinklers with unfinished sheetrock covering the pipe work. The "kitchen" has the only TV and the room is so filled by the queen bed that there is no where to actually eat if you were to cook anything. The "bedroom" would be OK (aside from the tile floor), but there is no TV in that room. The only phone is in that room and there is no data port on the phone, so you must plug your laptop into the wall jack. Then expect only to connect to your dial-up provider at the 26K rate due to the split-line wiring of the building. This place just isn't worth it.”

“Staff honesty greatly appreciated. In a public area of the lobby, I misplaced a back pack with items personally valuable to me, and they held it behind the counter awaiting my return. Parking and security policies were somewhat inconvenient. Hotel is undergoing renovation and should be quite nice when finished.”

“I would recommend this hotel only for people who are on a very tight budget. It was clean and the staff were pleasant enough, but it lacks amenities that I expect in a chain hotel, such as carpeting, an alarm clock in the room, a TV remote that works, and an ice machine. This was an independent hotel until apparently just recently.”
