  • Great location.
  • Rooms need updating, more insulation.

“Right on beach. The grounds are very pretty and maintained well. Private beach area for guests with lounge chairs and umbrellas.”

  • It is the oldest hotel in Waikiki, beautiful in all its Pink glory and ever so welcoming.
  • Small, inaccessible lanai's from guest rooms. It would have been nice to relax on my own balcony.

“The "Pink Palace" definitely lives up to its name. It is almost over the top with its vibrant pinkness but so beautiful and charming at the same time, it feels like going home. Very old world Hawaiian, the ocean air emanates through the grand entrance as you are greeted with that ever special Hawaiian Aloha and Orchid lei and the sparkle of the Pacific glimmers in the distance. The rooms are very sensibly decorated and comfortable with windows that open to a tropical array of palm trees, birds of paradise, lush, colorful flowers, pristinely manicured lawns and chirping birds. Fresh banana bread is made and delivered to your room daily, and there are even pink towels in the pink bathrooms. The lanai is very small though, you have to climb out the window to access it. They have an excellent Mai Tai Bar located steps to the sandy beaches, great bartenders who are attentive and friendly and make the best Mai Tai's I have ever had. Sit back watch the surf, enjoy the warm breezes and soft Hawaiian music around you. It is one of the only hotel that has a private beach area for guests only, tanning is made easy if you get up early enough to stake out your lounge chair. Get towels from the pool services, find your favorite spot and they will do the rest, umbrella's at your request, cocktail services; beach rolling surf and the most spectacular views of diamond head if you are up early enough to catch a morning sunrise. There are many things to do, dining at sunset, Hawaiian entertainment, shopping, or relaxing on one of the many secluded, comfortable lounge chairs around the hotel. You can not go wrong with this hotel. As for me, I will never stay anywhere else.”

  • The hotel was amazing---large room, friendly staff, and wonderful views!
  • We had a hard time finding it since we couldn't see the pink facade from the road.

“This hotel was by far the nicest I've stayed in and I'm a former hotel manager who has stayed in lots of upscale, name-brand hotels. The staff really made it special. You would never guess these people are going to lose their jobs in a few months when the hotel closes for renovation.”

  • Location in Waikiki Beach, Safety of area.
  • Bathroom could be updated, however very clean.

“The hotel was in a great location for going to the beach, shopping, and local restaurants. I was vacationing with my 8 year old daughter and every thing was within a short walking distance of the hotel. The hotel staff was extremely friendly. Will recommend to family and friends to stay at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.”

  • Everything. Especially Wendy at the concierge desk. She is amazing.
  • The umbrellas go fast in the morning.

“We had another amazing visit there. This was our 4th stay, and it just keeps getting better. The hotel itself, the service, the cleanliness, the rooms (especially in the tower) are all the very best. We can't wait until next time.”

  • The location is exceptional!
  • The hotel is very old. The shower was not working.

“A landmark in Waikiki! The lobby is beautiful, the location stunning and at the Mai Tar bar the waiters are friendly. However the shower did not work. I do not recommend the SPA either because the prices are very high but the service is not up to it.”

“We had booked a garden view room with two double beds. This room was not available so we were upgraded to an oceanfront room on a high floor w a king size bed for the same price.”

  • The Royal Hawaiian offers a unique Waikiki experience. The staff was exceptionally friendly and the location was the best on Waikiki. My room was very good.
  • Everything was very expensive but that was to be expected.

“I loved this hotel because it was old Hawaii. The staff was wonderful from the lei greeting to the housekeepers. I got a kick out of the whole pink theme. Everything, including the sheets and towels, was pink but in a tasteful way. If you must be in Honolulu, this is the place to stay.”
