“My husband and I spent a week at the Ohana Islander Waikiki. Although there was some renovation going on near-by, the hotel was extremely clean and comfortable. The staff never grew tired of our questions and was always helpful. The hotel is located on the New Beach Walk and we had shops and restaurants right at our doorstep. As well as the beach five minutes away. We can't wait to go back!”

“If you plan to connect to internet, avoid this hotel. No room internet service. 8th floor stank of fragrance as they are trying to hide mold odor and room air filter was filthy. I ended up with bronchitis from the entire mold. They appear to be upgrading the lobby and should rather have spent the money on the rooms.”

“The hotel was well situated in downtown Honolulu, which was its only redeeming quality. The decor was similar to a budget motel, perhaps slightly better. Construction noise (Jackhammers) from the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center across the street continued until around 9 pm.”

“For a location that was 35 miles from where I worked - I was so disappointed. If I had to do it again - I would not play the Mystery game. I saved $45 Big deal - had a hotel that was being renovated - no pool-restaurant-sundries store and I have a disability that does not allow me to walk very far. It was not good. One good thing - the girl in the parking area was such a hard worker and very caring.”

“The "standard" room looked like an economy room. The room was entirely too small, and after several attempts to get into a larger room, we transferred the 2nd day to another Ohana hotel room, and ended up paying an additional $25/night for the "upgrade" to a "standard" double room. I did not like the Islander's room and felt that I should not have been asked to pay an additional $30/night to upgrade within the Islander for what is considered a "standard" room in the US mainland. I was very disappointed with the Islander hotel.”

“The location of the hotel in Waikiki was excellent in terms of walking distance from the beach, shops, and nearby restaurants. Parking space is limited and a daily fee is an added expense. The hotel staff was friendly and maid service was adequate. A direct view from the room was obstructed by another building and a large construction site next to the hotel.”

“We were pleased with the accommodations - they were clean and quiet. We noticed several families with children, which is a plus. The beach was within easy walking distance, as well as shopping malls. The ongoing construction was the only problem, making it a little confusing to find our way around, but the staff was very helpful.”

“Very comfortable room with a nice view of the ocean. Not much on the frills due to the construction but will obviously be a great stop once the board walk is completed. Room was good sized and the bed was comfortable.”

“The hotel's location cannot be beat! You are right at the heart of the action on Kalakaua Avenue, near to many dining options, and just a short walk to the beach. The small patio on the room afforded a great view of Waikiki. The area around the hotel is currently under massive construction. Noise was not an issue, but the hotel public areas could definitely use some decorating and cleaning TLC. The carpets in particular are showing the wear from people tracking in the dust/dirt. The room was perfectly sized for two people. We spent only our sleeping/napping time in the room. The room was cleaned every day, the housekeeping staff were great. I have no complaints. It is a perfect place for folks who plan to spend a lot of time out of the room.”

“The room I originally got was a matchbox with hardly any space to walk around the bed. I was told it was a room designed for the Japanese tourist, as they like the rooms small? Construction made it noisy, and entrance into the hotel difficult. Protective walls set up around the entrance caused me to pass by the hotel when I drove up to check in.”

“I originally chose this hotel because it is "family oriented." It even has babysitting services listed as one of it's amenities. However, they refer you to the yellow pages for baby sitting services. There is nothing tailored for children, and the pool is too small for more than 5-10 people at one time. The pool is also located to where the sun is blocked by surrounding buildings for the majority of the day. There is no hot tub, room service, or roll away beds. They have cribs, but for an additional fee. Parking is $15 a day, and that is only if you get one of the 25 spaces. You are directed to an overflow lot about 2 blocks away if the lot is full. Do not stay here! There are much better hotels around the corner and down the street for the value of your money. For anyone on business, you have to pay .40 cents a minute for internet use and there is no lounge for solitude and discreetness. No in room connection either.”

“We were very satisfied with this hotel. Just a short walk to the beach- in fact we walked every where. there is a Starbucks downstairs and a gift shop. this was our first trip to Hawai. I would stay here again.”

“there are other hotels around that are being torn down to build a new resort and i can't help but wonder if this one is next. don't be surprised if this hotel isn't there next year. the maintenance isn't real good. and the staff got my room wrong and tried to move someone into the room before I had moved out! not very on top of things.”

“Great location for shopping and beach access. Very accomodating staff, showed true Aloha. Pool bar was a nice touch! I'd recommend it!”

“This is a very conveniently located hotel in Waikiki, very close to beach and shopping. It is tastefully furnished. Rooms are quiet and comfortable. NO in-hotel restaurant or room service, which struck me as odd for a hotel of this caliber. Rooms are a little small and the balconies are VERY small. But if you like the energy of Waikiki and the beach, you will be close to all here. Note: there is a charge for parking, so plan for it- $13/day when I was there, a little steep.”

“The location of this hotel works, but it needs work to be a 3 star hotel. the beds and carpeting need to be replaced in the guest rooms. The is no room service as indicated, since they don't have a restuarant on site. There is a Subway and Pizza place downstairs along with a Starbucks. The staff was not as helpful as I would have expected for other reviews. They never offered a map or gave any general information about the hotel and it services or info on places located around the hotel. In addition, the pool area is run down and small. Many of the pool tiles (rocks) had fallen off. They were no towels and it was windy. ” Amenities at Ohana Islander Waikiki, Oahu
