• The location was fabulous.
• Bathroom/ shower.

“This hotel has a great location and a lot of great features like a fitness room and several restaurants with beautiful views. However, the restaurant food was average and totally overpriced. Tropical drinks were $9.50 here, but a max of $7 everywhere else. There's a lot of potential with the location and everything, but they just need to get their act together. Throughout the resort, little things like table umbrellas, walkway tiles, or bathroom sinks were slightly broken. It just seems like they don't really have an eye for detail. The location and the fact that we got a great deal made those little things pretty easy to overlook, but I would have been disappointed if I was one of the guests who stayed there for full price. The power went out 2 xs in one day -at 8:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. (the two times of day when people are likely getting ready). In the evening, we went down to the front desk to ask when they thought it would be turned back on and they took down our room number. This was a very nice surprise since we didn't have to turn into crazed lunatics to be compensated for the inconvenience.”

• Mai Tai reception was fun.
• Desk staff was sometimes difficult.

“Great ocean views. In December it may always be very windy. The beach is good for boogie boarding, but unprotected so too strong to swim around. It is a timeshare and so they do attempt to get you involved. Rooms are great, and it is a long walk to some areas of the hotel. I enjoyed it but would not rave over it.”

• It was a beautiful place and the service was some of the best I ever had.
• Nothing.

“The hotel was incredible and they made my husband and I feel like royalty. There were plenty of on promise activities (especially at night when everything is closed in Kauai) to entertain us. The room was very clean and had a beautiful garden view. The staff was a friendly and helpful as I have ever experienced. I would definitely return to this hotel over any other on Kauai and will recommend it to everyone I know. ”

• The hotel lobby was nicely decorated and it was on a beach.
• The rooms give you a feeling that you are motel 6, but of course, you're paying a lot more for it.

“My stay here was really disappointing. The rooms looked old and dingy, the bathroom was so small, there was fluorescent lighting, the TV was so small--it just didn¿t look like a nice resort hotel room should look. On top of that, they charge you resort fee, but you cannot even print one page from their printer, there are only 3 computers to check email with so there's always a long line, the lady checking us in was not nice or friendly and the waiter at the restaurant was not attentive. Oh, and they do not greet you with a lei, like they do at the Hyatt. I was greatly disappointed--I could have stayed at a motel if I wanted this kind of room/treatment. but instead, I paid hundreds of dollars more to stay at the Sheraton for no good reason.”

• Was able to upgrade from a parking lot view to ocean front for $50!
• The grounds and facilities were no where near the quality of the Hyatt Grand Regency.

“As long as you have not been exposed to the Hyatt Grand Regency, you will find this hotel acceptable. A street runs between the ocean front and garden view rooms, thereby dividing the "resort" in half. The resort fee includes a nice buffet breakfast each morning.”

• View (ocean). Food (variety of restaurants). Staff. Pool. Convenience from airport.
• Inefficient dresser space for clothes. No drawer space in bathroom. Dangerous, slippery bathroom tiles.

“Although No. 14 points out the deficiencies that I noticed, I would return to the Sheraton in Kauai. A great location for chartered activities.”

• The hotel location is very nice. Beach and surrounding areas are beautiful.
• The hotel is very old and worn out. Despite the fact it is undergoing renovations, the public areas are old and in need of much work.

“The Sheraton location is very nice. The beach and ocean views are beautiful. The ocean front wings are much nicer than the garden wings in the back of the hotel. The rooms in garden wing are very small. The pools and restaurants need new furniture and updating. Overall, the hotel quality does not match the great location.”

• Ground - public spaces very nice. Breakfast buffet very good.
• Mildew in shower, curtain. Air conditioner very noisy. Rooms noisy.

“The price I paid did not include a mandatory $26/day amenities fee (free breakfast) that was added on to my bill. The rooms were dirty, mildew on the shower curtain and in the tile. The air conditioner was so noisy that we had to shut it off at night. The air conditioner cover was broken off. Elevator was broken in our section. You could hear other guests use the bathroom - loud enough to wake you up. Grounds were very nice and well maintained. Breakfast buffet was very good.”

• Nice beach & pool. Daily resort fee was charged in addition to room, but incl. great buffet breakfast.
• Many of the buildings are across the street from the main bldg, so not right on the beach.

“We have been to the Sheraton twice and have reservations to come back. It has the best location on the island! It is definitely worth paying a little more for an ocean front room. The staff is friendly and helpful. The daily breakfast buffet is a bountiful feast and the free Mai Tai hor at sunset is very enjoyable. ”

• Setting on beach is lovely.
• Rooms were very shabby and rundown. Bathrooms have not been upgraded in years.

“The hotel is at a beautiful location on the beach. However, the rooms and other facilities are severely rundown and badly in need of renovation. Impression is that the management is trying to squeeze every last bit of profit out of the hotel and there is little concern about guest comfort. ”

• Old room furnishings, low water pressure, no business office, internet didn't work.

“Old hotel, rooms looked it, in a beautiful spot. Internet did not work for our entire stay, received 4:30am wake up call that I didn't order, water pressure was low and fixture was old.”

• Great location in the ocean wing. Our room was right on the beach with a full ocean view.
• Mandatory resort fee of $26 a day which included a breakfast buffet. The food was horrible.

“If you stay in the ocean wing it is beautiful. Full ocean view very close to the beach. Staff are very helpful. The only criticism was the food. Buffet was horrible and food at other restaurants was expensive and poor quality.”

• The oceanview room was gorgeous and very spacious.
