Transit Visa

Just sharing my experience with transit visa at hong kong.

I had just 5 hours ebtween flights and still managed to get a transit visa (which is free). i went to the immigration counter where the officer looked at me as if i was mad since my flight was in 4 hours.

so i explained to him that i had it all planned and that the train that took me to downtown was going to take 28 minutes each way. so i still had about an hour to shop.

so he let me go through and i paid for the train about 10 USD via a credit card and hopped on. i saw the beautiful sunrise over the waters from the train. the train itself was a pretty nice one.

hopping off at hong kong central station, i found myself taking a big round walk around downtown. the most surprising fact for me was that most of the people spoke almost perfect english. a grandma helped me snap some pictures of me. that was very nice of her.

then after walking around for sometime, (making sure i didnt get lost) i made a full circle back to the place where i started off. i then got back to the airport and got through immigration with enough time to shop for some memorablia at the airport.

never miss an oppurtunity to visit a place.

I will go to india via Hong Knog in Cathay Pacific Airways, i have 7 hours transit time, in between time, can i enter into the Hong Kong City? I want to purchase something there. i think that it may take 2 or 3 hours. Can i get visa at the Checkpoint of Immigration?......
