Dune Lake Campground
Apr 21, 2008 by Mark from Chicago, IL
Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Wonderful swimming lake, rustic setting, friendly owners.
  • I wish it were closer to our home.

“Dune lake campground is a private campground which is rustic and wooded and has a state-campground feel to it. It's not a cookie-cutter koa. Sites are a good size and surrounded by trees. There's a little spring-fed lake surrounded by sand dunes for swimming. And yet you're minutes away from lake Michigan beaches and hiking trails. My wife and I fell in love with dune lake and are now seasonal there. Southwest Michigan has everything from berry and apple picking to fishing, or shopping in the nearby lake-side towns (South Haven, St. Joe, and Saugatuck) to restaurants and a petting zoo.”

Westwind Golf
Apr 14, 2008 by Brian from Grand Haven
Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7

  • Friendly course, not long, good on windy days.
  • Front and back nines should be reversed.

“Not an upscale type course at all, but a quite friendly one. The front and back nines should probably be reversed as arguably the first three holes on the front are about the most difficult ones. The back starts off a lot easier. Good place to play on a windy day (in spite of the name) as only the few holes near the clubhouse get much wind. Greens can be a little slow at times, if you don't mind that. It's a pretty tree lined course. The staff are friendly. The clubhouse is nothing fancy, but adequate. Has a bar. I enjoy it there - but not the place to take guests if you need upscale.”

Ludington Pier House
Apr 10, 2008 by Marilyn from Wyandotte
Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • Everything is good.

“Family vacation at it is best! Just booked our vacation for August. Can not wait. There is stuff for all of to do. Check out how close they are to the beach, fishing and downtown. No driving. It is always fun. The owners keep the hotel spotless. All remodeled, clean and well maintained. Picnic tables outside and a pool deck. Ludington is the vacation place for us and so is the Ludington Pier House. The Pier House is where we stay.”

Whiskey Creek Resort
Apr 9, 2008 by Larry from Detroit
Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Nature at it's finest!
  • If you don't like bugs - stay away during the hot/humid weather!

“Whiskey Creek is out in the middle of beautiful nowhere. If you like nature and just plain lay back, this is the place. They have 2 small lakes for swimming or fishing (no boating but they're 25 miles from Lake Michigan), nature and hiking trails. The lodge is only open seasonally and during the summer thats nice.”
