Fisherman's Bastion
Jul 14, 2005 by Michael from Clifton, VA
Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

“i was studying in Angers, France this past year with University of Notre Dame, and i got to travel extensively, part of which was 4 February -13 February 2005, when i went with a group of friends to Berlin, Budapest and Prague...so cold yet so awesome! I visited a lot in Budapest with my friends, and Fisherman's Bastion was fantastic. It's a huge structure and its architectural design is intriguing, stretching hundreds of feet across with one of the best views, if not THE best view, of Budapest. Its location the Buda side in the hills is ideal for views of the Parliament buidling, St. Stephen's Basilica, Chain Bridge, Danube River...everything on the flatter and more modern Pest side. Nevertheless, you can still see Buda castle to your right from the Bastion. For good Hungarian souvenirs, there's a store right on the corner of the building behind the Bastion, next to the St. Matyas Church, that specializes in liquors and wines. Hungarian wine is very good, with a sweet taste....try some! the kind i had ranged from 1-6 in levels of sweetness..made with pears, apples, etc...very good. and the girl who worked there was cute and helpful. go to Budapest! we didn't go out at night, too tired, but they have a great nightlife in this city too! safe travels”
