Jacob's Creek Tour Down Under
Jul 16, 2008 by Nasser from adelaide
Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Well organized, gave me motivation.
  • Logistically was hard to get to and from the event.

“It gave me the motivation to get fit enough last years to ride the 134km event! Awesome event, however next years event I think will be better as it wont' be such a logistical nightmare getting to and from the event. Last year you had to get to Magnum for a 7am start, then get back to mannum, then get home. Made for a ridiculously long day!”

Southern Ocean Retreats

  • Loved the people.
  • Bad hotel.

“We loved Kangaroo Island but the Southern Ocean lodge was just terrible. I couldn't believe that this place was built in such a beautiful location. If you want to pay money to stay in a bad hotel, visit NYC - if you want to experience Australian nature at its best - as one Aussie said grab a swag.”

  • The tropical plants and climbing the stairs to have a look at them.
  • It was closed, I could only look through the window.

“You can't make this in to a cafe. I've never been and it looks great & it's my B'day on the 4 of May. Please have it open by then.”

Southern Ocean Retreats

  • The beauty of the area. Astounding.
  • That the Ridgetop retreats werent yet finished. They look amazing!

“I absolutely love this place! We heard about it from family who lives in south Australia and insisted that we go down there when we went to Adelaide for a visit. The managers are the most, hospitable people I have ever come across in the accommodation arena. They strove to make our stay as wonderful as they possibly could and their property far exceeded our expectations. We chose Glenburn cottage, as when we were there, the Ridgetop retreats were as yet unfinished, but Glenburn was an absolute delight. The drive into any of the cottages is fabulous. Stunning forests, amazing vistas, you feel as though you have stepped into another world. And this is only an hour or so away from the capital city of south Australia, Adelaide! We woke up each morning and had our breakfast on the deck of the cottage where we could watch the absolute herd of kangaroos that showed up every morning and every evening, just before dusk. The cottage itself was exceptionally well maintained, wonderful decor, so modern and came with everything we could possibly need. It was also very close to many wonderful hiking trails, enough so that any level of hiker could go. We went on one of the easier ones, as we are not usually the outdoorsy type! All in all, we had a lovely time during our stay in south Australia, and particularly on the peninsula. There are so many activities to do up there that you could stay for a year and still not have done everything! When we go back to visit our family again, we will definitely be returning to southern ocean retreats. .”

Brisbane River (The)
Oct 31, 2007 by Katie from Sydney
Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • I liked that the boat wasn't too crowded.
  • I didn't like that the water wasn't blue.

“I went out on a getaway cruising vessel and it was great. Some of the other boats seemed much run down, but the one we were on was quite luxurious. They gave us a great lunch and we went boom netting while we were on Morton Bay. What a hoot that was? It was nice to Brisbane from the water and going out onto the bay was fabulous.”
