• Friendly staff, nice room, great location
• Internet was never available on WiFi connection

“Very nice and helpful staff (they sent 3 different maintenance workers to try to fix WiFi!) and very nice accomodations. Room had some small flaws, but exceptional value for the price we paid. Excellent location for shopping and night time entertainment. Close parking. Although wireless internet was advertised and I was able to connect to the router, I was never able to connect to internet.”

• I liked the location, comfy beds, complimentary breakfast, fridge and microwave.
• Strong musty smell, shower not working, fan loud and small TV.

“When I first entered the room there was a strong musty smell. The beds were comfy and I liked the space we had to put luggage. In the morning, the water temperature adjuster for the shower was loose and wouldn't work. I enjoyed the complimentary breakfasts. I loved the location of the hotel. It's close to everything downtown plus it's easy to get to the freeway from there. The hotel was very elegant looking. So except for the shower problem & initial smell, it was a great place to stay.”

• Not one thing.
• Holes in chairs, holes in ceiling, mold/mildew in shower, check in at 4 - there at 4:15, not adjoining rooms. Awful experience!

“I was expecting to have a 3-star hotel be clean, up to date, maintenance free, helpful staff. Check in took 1/2 hr. Called early in day to secure adjoining rooms, couldn't guarantee. Check in began at 4:00 there at 4:15, still no adjoining rooms. The room was absolutely horrible! This was more like a run down 1-star hotel.”

• The breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
• Almost everything. The place was dirty & only one of the staff members cared a little but made little effort, am staff needs to be fired.

“The lobby floors were dirty, the staff was rude, the room smelled body odor and the room was messy. The staff was notified and little effort was made to correct the issues.”

• Location, free parking.
• The room smelled bad.

“A nice hotel with free parking (most hotels in that area charge at least $5/day). The only complaint was the smell of the room - if I were to spend more time in the room, I would have requested a room change.”

• Location, parking, cleanliness, pool area.
• Elevators were extremely slow.

“A very clean hotel in downtown Salt Lake City. Located very near Temple Square and across the street from the Salt Palace. This hotel is older, so the amenities were not amazing, but it was comfortable and felt safe. The parking was very convenient. The elevators are old and very slow. The pool area is great and is open 24 hours.”

• It was an older hotel, needs a little updating.

“The location is great. The rooms were clean, just a little outdated. The staff were nice. We didn't swim because the pool and hot tub looked dirty.”

• The location was the best thing about the hotel.
• The rooms were muggy and hot and the windows did not open for our safety.

“This hotel was very outdated. I couldn't believe it was considered a three star hotel. The rooms smelled dirty. The carpets were dirty. The pink paint was peeling off the doors in the room. It was very hot and muggy in the room. The windows were screwed shut for our safety. Forest green carpet with mauve flowers on everything. Scary.”

• My room was nice and cool.
• Staff was extremely unhelpful.

“I arrived early, no rooms cleaned. Most hotels will try to accommodate you. I waited 6 hours to get checked in. Well past their posted check in time. No air conditioning in lobby. Bar/restaurant closed. One elevator was not working. Pool closed. Staff was unhelpful, untrained.”

• Great beds, got good sleep, and clean bathroom.

“Had a little trouble checking me in but it was 11 pm too. Great room, free breakfast in restaurant was good. Very nice, comfortable room, slept well! Didn't have time to do too much else before we left.”

• The waitress in the hotel was very friendly. She was good at her job.
• At check-in, it was a burden for the staff to do, they were arguing about who needed to do it. The room smelled. The towels were discolored.

“I would never go to this hotel again. Never would I recommend Shilo Inn to anyone.”

• Very poor service. Rooms were not clean.

“I had to wait over 5 minutes, with nobody else in line to be helped. I was finally given my room key and when I got to the room, I found that it had not even been cleaned. The staff was not very friendly and I was very disappointed. I expected more for the 3 star rating.”

• Staff was very helpful and room was clean.
• The rooms and hotel were a bit outdated. Breakfast was horrible and not worth it. They basically microwave plates of pre-made food.

“Ideal location in terms of being downtown and close to everything. Overall our stay was good. Room was clean and staff was very pleasant and informative. The free breakfast was not worth at all. I'd stay there again but not eat breakfast there.”

• Mold in the shower. A lot of mold and dirt in the pool area and broken safety bar into pool.

“Old, dirty, mold in the pool area. If my two year old wasn't set on swimming I wouldn't have stepped a foot in there.”

“I have traveled to Europe, Soviet Union (when there was one), and throughout the US and never have I encountered a hotel with such sloppy cleaning. Floors not vacuumed, trash not removed from nightstand.”

• Hotel provided a wonderful view of downtown and room comfort was like home!
• Can't think of anything.

“My stay at the Shiloh was simply one of my best stays in downtown SLC. The beds were pillow top mattresses with down comforters and plenty of pillows, and it made for a very comfortable night sleep. The courtesy van driver was very accommodating to my needs and drove me to a rental car facility early in the morning. The staff was warm and friendly and professional in all my exposures to them! I was given a room on the top floor with a beautiful view of the city at night, and I loved it!”

• The food and service were excellent.
• My Computer VPN Connection didn't work. Big Problem.

“Overall it was great. The only thing that was wrong was that I couldn't complete important work because the hotel's computer system would not allow me a VPN connection. Because of this I lost a lot of time and had to go home one day early to catch up on work.”

• Their continental breakfast was GREAT!

“The rooms were clean. Everyone was very friendly. The pool was very clean. It was located it a easy access to many sites and near the freeway. The continental breakfast was awesome. Most of the time you just get cold cereal or something, but it was hash browns, eggs toast, bacon. It was a great stay.”

• The services they offered, i.e. 24 hour pool, spa, etc.
• They changed our room to 2 queens instead of a king.

“We enjoyed staying there and had a great weekend. It was in an ideal location for the sights we wanted to see. The 24 hour service was perfect for our needs. We had a great time!”

• Great breakfast.
• The elevators.

“This hotel was very nice. The rooms were clean and really nice. They have refrigerators and very comfortable beds. We had rooms on 2 floors and while the rooms themselves did not smell at all the hall on one floor smelled like dirty feet. The pool and hot tub were really large and clean. You also get a full breakfast with 3 different choices. The elevators are very old and are quite scary! Overall a pretty good place to stay.”

• The complimentary breakfast was very good.
• There were holes in the bed spread because they were so worn and old. The parking was not easily accessible. They did not deliver a Sunday paper.

“The hotel location was good. It was close to some of the best places to eat. The pool was a nice feature. The rooms were not what I expected. Some items in the room were newer while others, such as the bed spread, were so worn that there were holes in it. When I informed the staff about the condition of the linens, I received no apologies. There is no way I will ever stay at Shilo again.”
