  • Quiet, relaxing, beautiful; a short distance from either Carson City or Reno.
  • Can be busy and therefore a bit more hectic on weekends and holidays.

“Contrary to another reviewer's comments, the swimming pools at Bowers Mansion Park are usually open starting the first weekend after Wahoe County Schools recess for the summer through Labor Day. The park is often busy but is a wonderful spot for a picnic or simply to relax on a warm summer day. Tables and barbeques are available but are taken early on weekends. However, there is ample space on the spacious lawns for blankets and chairs, so take a cooler of drinks and sandwiches plus a cold watermelon and a good book, and you're in for a wonderful afternoon. Moderate hiking in the forest behind the mansion is also a pleasant diversion and a cooling retreat from midday heat. The mansion is quite interesting and while it cannot boast of still having its original furnishings due to the financial misfortunes of it's owner, donations of several period pieces give an excellent representation of life in the home during it's heyday; the silver strikes of the Comstock Lode. Additionally, the drive to Carson City down Franktown Road, which begins at the mansion, is as perfect a Sunday drive as one can find.”

  • The mansion is still simply but elegantly furnished.
  • Reproduction wallpapers and new flooring.

“Bowers Mansion is in a quiet area of openness. A public park is set on the grounds.

There is little of the home's original furnishings but a good representation of the times has been added. The original natural hot spring fed pools is not open to the public anymore. The tour was a little rushed but interesting.”
