“I have mixed feelings about the Jefferson memorial. I've been there once, but I don't think I will ever return. It has a lovely view, and it always looks great on postcards. But be warned that the postcards don't show you the murky water, the paddle boats covering it, the street people living on the park benchs, or just how long the hike is to get to the memorial. If you are coming from the National Mall, you will be pretty darn tired by the time you see Jefferson in his palace, perhaps too tired to appreciate it. There aren't any close metro stops so you will have to hike the whole trip no matter how you do it, unless you are in a tour bus. If you do plan to go all the way down to see Jefferson, make sure you take the western route back to Lincoln. Nestled between the Basin and the Potomac you will find the Roosevelt (FDR) memorial. It's a very unique type of memorial and I doubt many people see it - most seem to just stumble across it. I did. But it's worth it. ” 5 of 7 people found this review helpful.Attraction Representatives:
