  • Beautiful, close to many activities such as beaches, biking, hiking, kayaking, etc.
  • It's also a first come first serve facility.

“I would have given this campground a higher rating if it wasn't for their messed up reservations system. When we arrived at the "check-in" time, most of the campground was already full, making it very challenging to find a campsite to fit our 25' trailer and even worse for our friends to find a spot for their 31' trailer. Some of the roads in the campground are narrow making it difficult to maneuver the trailers around in search of a campsite. Perhaps the front gate needs to inform those with trailers where sites are available that will accommodate the various sizes so we don't spend a 1/2 hour and a 1/4 tank of fuel looking for a spot. Other than that, the campground was very beautiful, had clean bathrooms and showers (the few there were), and is relatively quiet at night, except for the occasional camper yelling and clanging pans to scare off the local bears (yes, they do visit so be aware)!”

  • Great campground for riding bikes, convenience and setting!
  • Only open Memorial Day weekend through the end of Sept.

“This is a great campground for families. There are no RV hookups, so you need to be self-contained. But the campground showers are hot and the bathrooms are clean. Campsites range from 20' to 99'. This campground is conveniently located just off of Emerald Bay Hwy and is near Fallen Leaf Lake which is beautiful! Emerald Bay and the overlook to it are just up the road about 4 miles. The lake Tahoe Basin, visitors center is across the street. The stream experience there, at the visitors center, is really neat as it lets you walk under Taylor Creek and see the fish swim and how a stream works. Camp Richardson is nearby and the very popular ice cream parlor is always busy! You can rent bikes and boats at Camp Richardson as well. The staff at Fallen Leaf Lake were very friendly and helpful, always keeping the camp clean and making sure people stick to the 10:00 curfew. I'd recommend this campground to anyone.”
