“The hotel is located in a good area buses and trolly station were at walking distance (1 block away) and so was the downtown mall. The night life by the hotel was also awesome, everything was very close. However, the hotel was disappointing. When we checked-in the individual was friendly and gave us our room. However, when we arrived to our room it had not been clean, the beds where not done. There was food all over the room and most importantly and more disturbing the beds had blood stains. We called front desk to switch mores but they said that no other rooms where available and that housekeeping was just going to go clean up. It was a very discussing experience; I would have cancelled my reservation if it had not already been charged to my account. I would not recommend this hotel to any of my business partners or family/friends. What was more disappointing was that the hotel did not even accommodate or suggestion on moving to another room.” Aug 31, 2009 by

“The outside of the hotel is old and unattractive. Not what I was expecting from a Holiday Inn. We had a room on the 9th floor facing the cityscape which is beautiful at night. However it has to be the noisiest place I have ever stayed. The sound from the train station (across the street) and the outbound airplane was more than I could tolerate. For a 3-star hotel it has a lot to improve on. We travel a lot (at least 20 hotel stays a year) and this was the worst 3-star I have stayed in. The $22/night parking is a little expensive but at least I was prepared for that. Perhaps this place would work well for a business traveler that spends most of the time out of the room. “This hotel is an older property, but has been generally been well maintained. Rooms are located in three adjacent towers, 2 of which are high rise. The jewel of the property are the bay view rooms with balconies. At check in I was upgraded to bay view from the standard city view based on my Priority Club participation. “When we arrived they accommodated us in a room that had only a sofa bed! I couldn't even believe hotels did this. The furniture was outdated but the bathroom was modern. It was a weird combination. They moved us the next day but I can't even believe that anyone would want to be in a room with a sofa bed no matter how much money you save. “The hotel itself is very nice and in a great location, but as far as booking through Priceline they need to make sure that they book automatically for a king bed or 2 queen beds, because it was ridiculous and the beds were not comfortable at all and my husband is disabled from a fall, so his back was in so much pain that we couldn't do anything, because he had such a hard time sleeping, and we couldn't change rooms, because there was nothing available, the hotel was completely booked. “It would have been better if there was not all the hidden costs. They had plenty of parking but charged you for it. $20.00 a day after you are renting a room is not right seeing as how they have so much parking that they don't even in the least fill up. “Although the Holiday Inn On The Bay was a older but relatively decent hotel with an ideal location of Downtown San Diego. It was very disappointing with the noisy unstoppable fog blow horn that rang out throughout the morning. I had retired to bed after a late New Years Eve night on the town. I got only a couple hours of sleep and checked out of the hotel early that morning. I regret the accommodations and will not be visiting Holiday Inn On The Bay again.” Nov 27, 2008 by

“I was impressed with the staff accommodating my need for a refrigerator and the cleanliness and overall upgraded interior exceeded my expectations. However the food in the restaurant in the lobby was far below the standards of a Denny's. The overpriced omelet was bleeding oil and of poor quality. “Clean high-rise hotel with glass elevator, so view is available for all. Good for family, couples, business travelers. Helpful staff, restaurants on-site, convenient parking. “The overall stay was worth the money. We were not aware that there was a $20.00 parking fee and valet was $26.00 fee. This was unacceptable because there is no other parking in the area unless you want to park in an unsecured downtown parking lot. This was not acceptable for two single women in an unfamiliar location. The security guards were rude and were on a power trip when telling people where they could or could not go. At one point when asked where a group of people could go just to talk instead of going to a room we were told we could be kicked out of the hotel for not cooperating with security. This was unfortunate since the group I was with were discussing things with active duty military personnel. Overall the stay was enjoyable and close to a number of areas for shopping and eating.” Sep 4, 2008 by

“Actually got this room for my nephew and his new bride for a wedding present. They loved it - hung out at the pool during the day, dined at the restaurant at night and said it was great, they had a wonderful time and would definitely do it again!”
