  • Great scenery, excellent course design, nice bar, good food.
  • No negatives!

“This place is beautiful. It is a very well-kept course with great scenery. The food inside the gar is also excellent. I am not a member there yet, but I will be soon. I have played all of the courses in the area and for the value and overall golf experience, Timber Lakes is tough to beat.”

  • Variation in the two nines.
  • Front nine is a little short.

“The course is two completely different nines. The front nine is very open and relatively short, perfect for taking kids or a family. The back nine is much tighter and requires straighter shots off of the tee. The 2nd nine is considerably more difficult and the par fives are a challenge even for a scramble team. The course itself is typically in pretty good condition with the odd barren spot on the back nine. The 8th hole plays along interstate 55/70 so you can't be a slicer or affected by noise. The course also has a nice practice range with a practice green and trap.”

  • The contrast between the front and back nine.
  • Tee box conditions were poor.

“This golf course is a hidden gem. It is located in rural Illinois between St. Louis, MO and Springfield, IL. The front nine is alright, it's open, but the back nine is what is worth playing. The tenth starts out open with a tee shot over the lake. After the tenth hole the remaining eight holes meander through a canyon of trees. I have played it twice, and it seemed that they keep the back nine in better shape, but I did play during the drought in the summer of 2005.”
