“Oh my god. This place was disgusting! Dirty filthy. It is set to close it doors in August of 2007!”

“This small museum in a mansion on the corner of 86th and fifth just above the met is home to German (read German & Austrian) expressionism, with a good schiele collection and the klimt of all klimts - that lady in the sparkling dress - which they just purchased for many millions. At present, it has a terrific exhibition on van gogh's influence on expressionism, well organized with a good accompanying catalogue. The cafe overlooking central park (well, the upstairs one anyway) has the most wonderful lunch, you would swear you were in Vienna!”

“A new York (or new jersey) must see! Very patriotic, but also very beautiful. Some hits from a pro: go early, bring snacks, get tickets ahead of time (it is worth the few extra bucks to do so) and get off the boat first! Know that you must put any bags in a locker, so rush over and do that first. Then be prepared to wait in a long line. Talk about 9/11 security. And if you are taking small children, be prepared, one of the things you go through is a "blower" and it shoots air at you to check for chemicals. It scares kids if they cannot go through with you. However once you are past all that, it is truly a magnificent site! Even though you can not go to the crown anymore, it is still worth the trip!”

“Absolutely an amazing place. The peace and reverence you feel when you enter is truly palpable. Be respectful, and look the entire place over. People will be sitting quietly and if you just follow the implied rules of behavior you can walk and take in the wonderful sights. Ask the docents questions, they can be very helpful for people that want to know more. It's amazing. Go if you can.”

“Dirty lobby and triage care area. Gritty atmosphere in 2nd shift. Emergency room has four beds. My company for 12 hours were mainly drunks in "detox". My nurse, a male named Kim, was inattentive. It took two hours after my arrival in triage before I got morphine for pain from my cyst because it took that long to register me. They wanted to give me a CAT scan, and this took 10 hours. The nurse didn't warn me to drink the oral contrast slowly, so I vomited it up. Also, he didn't give me this as soon as he should have. Another nurse got on him to get that going. Close to my hotel, but next time will ask concierge for NICE hospital. Doc was good through ¿ DiAntonio.”

“See http://www.cmany.org for a greatly exaggerated version of events & activities at The Children's Museum Of The Arts . The only worthwhile portion seemed to be the Ball Pool --- this provided lots of fun for my 3, 6 & 9 yr old boys (& me too, occasionally). Otherwise, paying $8 per person (total of $ 40 for 2 parents + 3 kids) into a creche -type facility was over-priced & over-hyped. There seemed to be a total of 4 staff in the building, one of whom was in a room only open to groups & birthday parties. Another staff member spent all her time helping a few kids around a small table to make paper dragons. Contrast this with Brooklyn Children's Museum @ $4 per person --- they had 4 staff making paper hats. Plus plenty of other staff, including an activity on eggs & making/painting paper caterpillars, plus plenty of other exhibits & information etc etc etc ”

“The Circle Line is a New York classic, the boats are historic WW II Navy minesweepers, bought up after the war and converted into excursion boats. And the tour guides on board are the best in NYC, by far. They point out the major sights, but also things like the original, massive Thomas Edison power plant on the East Side, still in use, tell you about Charles Dickens and Randall's Island, and so on. It's the best way to get your first overview of the entire city, and there are terrific opportunities for photos. My family and I really enjoyed it. ”

“Wow! I had dreamt about this moment forever and finally I was there. It was all I could of imagined and then some. I would not live in New York, too crowded for me, but I will become a frequent visitor.

“The view from the observation deck is, without a doubt, the most impressive in the world. And now, since November 2005, you can also get into the 102nd story observation deck, which had been closed for many years. Tickets for 102 must be purchased in person (not on-line) and cost $10 over the normal admission. There is no secret to avoiding crowds. It is always crowded, but the earlier you get there the better. Also, the new ticketing area on the second floor seems to handle crowds better than the old lower level arrangement. Do not forget to linger a bit in the lobby and admire the wonderful art deco style decoration.”

“Best place to get your head shrunk in the tri-tate area. Best bipolar doctors on the planet.”

“The perfect place to do some people watching. Highlights include plenty of street performers, Central Park zoo, and The Metropolitan Museum. Get a feel for New York City if you are a tourist, but you can also go to the park to "get away" from the city if you are a local - read a book, get some sun, play some ball.”

“The Empire State building offers a beautiful view of Manhattan. With the sad departure of the World Trade Center, the Empire State building symbolizes New York City. It's definitely a tourist trap, and many locals have never been to the top - but if you want to say you have done it - go when the kids are at school.”

“If you have one day in New York, you have to see the Met. Absolutely amazing collection, and it is the only major donation only museum in the city. Have a drink on the roof on a nice afternoon to enjoy the sculture and great view of Central Park.”

“For someone who has never been to New York this is a great way to see a lot all at once! The Statue of Liberty was magnificant.”

Bronx Zoo “Makes you forget you're in the Bronx. Especially worth going to when it has free admission, though most of really cool stuff cost extra. You can still have a good time though.”

“The good folks at the New York Park service used to let you see a lot more of the statue before 9/11. Now, you can no longer go up in the crown because of security concerns, or at least when I was there. When I was there as a kid, you could even go inside the torch; Now that was great! Anyway, it's definitely worth seeing on any trip to New York and you should bundle it with a tour of Ellis Island, as the ferry goes to both places anyway. This trip could also boost your patriotism.”

“A wonderful day with the family. I brought my 1 year old niece and nephew, and they both loved the gorilla exhibit. The zoo has become more modern.”

“Some of the exhibits are different than I expected, spent a few minutes (time it took) to walk through the 'art' on the highest level. Couldn't get out of this one fast enough. Exhibits did improve in Quality as we made our way down.”

“This ain't your Daddy's Times Square! No, Mayor Rudy cleaned up Times Square quite a bit during his reign as NYC mayor. Now every store from Disney to Sketchers has a flagship sopt hocking wares to the masses. Not too many really good restaurants, but I like Chevy's Tex Mex a lot. (Very fresh if you like Mexican.) The area is also much safer than it used to be, has police everywhere and is missing its' once signature porn theaters and window-washing squeegee men. You can also find lots of Broadways shows and plenty of decent hotels in the area.”

“If you think that St. Patricks is an awe-inspiring site, you should check out St. John's. It is so large that Pat's could fit inside a corner of it! Truly worth a trip to see.”
