Henry Doorly Zoo
Nov 20, 2008 by Aleesha from Omaha Ne.

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Amazing, fun, interactive and the best no doubt!
  • There is no negative!

“This zoo is absolutely the best! I go to the zoo frequently and still discover new things! It is absolutely stunning to go at night in the winter time. They have a ton of lights up. I love the jungle! The animals are so active and funny. The staff is very friendly. I also love the new butterfly exhibit they just opened up! I was in there last weekend and a giant white butterfly landed on my head! Crazy stuff! They also have a place where you can feed all these little birds. Its a lot of fun and a great place for family and kids of all ages!”

Eugene T. Mahoney State Park

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • 20 words can't do it justice. Everything was great!
  • The only thing I can think of is, being an avid hunter, the hunting simulator wasn't working but trust me everything else made up for it! Again. Wow!

“One word can describe this. Wow! My wife, son, and I traveled to the Omaha area for a family members wedding and decided to stay at the Peter Kiewit lodge and what a right thing to do. It surpassed all of our expectations. From the appearance of the lodge and park, to the friendly staff, to all of the activities (which unfortunately we didn't get the chance to participate in all of them), to the restaurant, it was awesome! The 16 hour drive was well worth it! We did however get to play at the indoor playground, play mini-golf, and eat some very good grub (food). My son and I went for a little walk and saw about 15 deer, which he spotted first, being 6 years old. All he could say the night before we left was "I sure am going to miss this ole' place." the lodge room was incredible, everything was great! We have decided to try to return next year. Until then we will recommend this to all our fellow Texans. Thank you to all those who are involved with the Eugene t. Mahoney state park, for a great time!”

Henry Doorly Zoo
Oct 17, 2006 by Karen from Escondido, CA

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Fantastic "real" exhibits - Lied Jungle, Scott Aquarium, Kingdoms of the Night.
  • The older parts of the zoo with the typical concrete areas and small cages.

“This Zoo is fabulous and rivals San Diego's, my hometown zoo! The Lied Jungle is the best exhibit I have seen at ANY zoo! The setting is so natural, and you can get close to the animals. My other favorite exhibits include the Scott Aquarium and Kingdoms of the Night. ”

  • We could find our way around easily.
  • There is nothing I really disliked.

“We have been there more than once. I love the zoo because it is clean, the staff friendly, & there are a lot of animals. The baby monkeys are very cute.”

Fun Plex

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4

  • Allot to offer, nice staff.
  • Dirty, way overpriced!!!

“This place is so overly priced! Two other places in the area offered the same water attractions and were $10 cheaper per person. Save your money & go to the other places!”

  • The water park, I liked the Lazy River the best.
  • The rides aren't that great but I'd give the rides a 5.

“The rides are ok but the water park is awesome. I would recommend the rides for littler kids and the water park is better for all ages. ”

Gene Leahy Mall
Jul 11, 2006 by Sarah from Omaha

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Slide, scenery, proximity to the old market and the library.
  • Trash (not as bad as lake Michigan)

“The Mall is a great place to relax or play with your friends and family. Not only are there benches around but at the far east end are two large slides. Be sure to bring wax paper so you can slide down even faster! It adds the exhilaration of a theme park surrounded by the relaxing Omaha downtown (Old Market only a block south), without the high cost of going anywhere. Be sure to walk around the mall a couple times and the slide is big enough for kids of all ages from 8 to 80!”

Durham Western Heritage Museum
Jun 5, 2006 by Jill

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Tons to do.
  • Not enough time.

“The Museum is s real treat. You can spend a lot of time wondering through the permanent exhibits that include Nebraska and Midwestern history. My favorite parts were the Byron Reed coin collection and Union Station Gallery. There are also traveling and temporary exhibits that are equally as interesting. I would save an afternoon and go check out the Durham Western Heritage Museum, its sure to be fun for everyone. There is a 1930's style soda fountain that you can get a treat at. There are special events at the museum that you can be involved in like Christmas at Union Station.”

Eugene T. Mahoney State Park
Sep 19, 2005 by Laura from Omaha

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • The water slides and swimming is great during the day, and the theatre is great at night. Lots to do!
  • The people who work in the administration building are rude at times, I guess because they are so busy and popular they don't have to work at it too hard.

“I can't say a single negative thing about Mahoney State Park, except that it should be bigger because it is so wonderful there is always a waiting list to get a good camping spot! If you don't live close by you can reserve space up to a year in advance. Yes... it's that great! We are lucky because we live in Southwest Omaha, and it is only a 15 minute drive down the interstate. There is something for everyone. The main attraction is the water park, which is a complete blast for kids and adults! The kids love the paddle boats, and when it's really hot and you want to chill you can go to the craft center and paint ceramics or many other things.

There is soooo much to do at this park you really need a week to experience it all. It's more like a resort. There is a restaurant/buffet in the lodge, and hotel type rooms if you are not the 'camping' type. There's fishing, golf, archery, mini golf, horseback riding, a large look out tower, tennis, conservatory, and the theatre with the live shows is the best!!! You are encouraged to throw popcorn at the villains in the play! Everyone will be roaring and ready to come back again. We had a family reunion here at this park a few years ago that included 25 people. We reserved a sheltered picnic area, and had it catered, and the food was very good and reasonably priced. ”

Eugene T. Mahoney State Park
Jul 31, 2005 by Lynda from Overland Park, KS

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Clean cabins, Serene, and relaxing atmosphere
  • It is hilly. And the cabins are very plainly decorated.

“For the past 3 years my husband's family have made this an annual tradition. Our immediate family members are now about 40 people. We rent 4 cabins and stay 4-5 days. Between 2 cabins are screened in porches where the teens like to hang out at night and play board games. We use this area to eat in. The park is a hilly area though but it is wheelchair friendly. It is great! There is an ice cream shop, feed the ducks area, pond with paddle boats, archery, large swimming pool, and a creativity center where our younger children like to go make nature things.

Closeby is Platte River State Park that has a huge lodge and more attractions like horses, theatre, and a water park. There is an aviation historial site museum to tour close as well. This is a great park to have a good time at. Very serene, clean, and relaxing. I recemmend it to anyone!”
