Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza
Jan 12, 2008 by Sharon Weiss from Stevensville, Md

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Beautiful park, acknowledgement of all aspects of our countries history.
  • Lack of extensive information of each exhibit area with photos from either all or the majority of exhibits statues.

“I was very impressed with this park. It had memorials for all of our (the US) conflicts & wars. It recognized not only the people of these battles but also included the K-9's that have given their lives in the line. The park is well maintained & there is plenty of room to walk around for hours reading the many tablets of history. The sculptures are beautiful & extremely life like. It is like a giant time capsule that is left open for all to see. I found this park by chance. I wish there were more information with photos of all of the exhibits available.”

Montezuma's Castle
Jul 20, 2007 by Diane from Louisville KY

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • The whole area comes alive with history.
  • It's hot!

“This is a terrific place! Much history and unbelievable dwellings that still remain. You actually feel as though you are among the beautiful people that once lived there. We found it on our way to the Grand Canyon and it really was one of our favorite things on our trip. It is easy to imagine the people that once lived there and how intelligent and resourceful they were.”

Castles N' Coasters, Inc
Jun 18, 2007 by Chloe from Henderson, NV

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Rides and fun.
  • Parking.

“I can't say this is a vacation destination exactly, but it sure is a lot of fun when you want to fill some time between baseball games in the spring. Fun rides, good price, fun mini golf, and arcade of 2 levels.”

Camelback Mountain
Mar 28, 2007 by Marv from Ballwin, MO

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • Views!
  • Long walk from any parking to base of MTN.

“Beautiful views of Phoenician & Scottsdale/Phoenix. Easy climb first 2/3 then increasingly harder; last 1/4 hand over feet. You'll need to take time to enjoy the view from the top to catch your breath.”

Island of Big Surf
May 27, 2006 by barbara from Tempe

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5

  • Wave pool.
  • Too small.

“This is nothing compared to the water parks in Ca. Even Wet n Wild is bigger than this park. It would be like comparing Castles and Coasters to Six Flags.”

Arcosanti
Jan 19, 2006 by Joshua from Omaha, Nebraska

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • A great atmosphere, with pleasant people.
  • A little removed from the rest of the world.

“While it may not look like much at first glance. Arcosanti is more than just a dense cluster of concrete building riding the edge of a mesa. The atmosphere and value is more than any traveler could ask for. With sprawling views of the Arizona High Desert and the small town feel that everybody secretly longs for, this is the epitome of elegance and joy.

Imagine, if you will, sitting amongst seventy or so other denizens eating freshly prepared, home-cooked food inside of the spacious atrium or cafe at arcosanti. With a bakery upstairs and a gallery looming overhead filled with thousands of handmade wind bells, you are serenaded by sweet scents and sultry music.

The rooms, while modest. And if you're feeling extra adventurous, you can rent the Sky Suite, which hosts two bedrooms, private living room, bathroom, balcony and kitchenette.”

Mystery Castle
Oct 23, 2005 by Nathan Cooper from Scottsdale

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Great tour, amazing items, nice people.
  • They are building housed down the way and cut out one main road, I feel they also need more signage. This should not be missed.

“We recently went to this amazing place when relatives came to town and we wanted to get them out of our hair. We went up and was shocked and amazed by this amazing place. You will stand shocked and in aw of the workmanship of this still lived in piece and collection of Arizona history. The lady that now owns the castle, daughter of the owner a good friend of Frank Lloyd Right, Jone Wayne is getting on in age but was full of life and love for the castle built for her by her father.”

Slide Rock State Park
Jul 21, 2005 by Chris from Granger

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • The beautiful scenery, unique rock slides, and brisk water.
  • Can be dangerous on slippery rocks, if not cautious.

“Our family visited Slide Rock State Park in July, 2005. We found it very beneficial to arrive early in the morning to get a prime spot for picnicking and relaxing. It was great to enjoy the area before the huge crowds arrived, which was around 10:00 a.m. We found the area to be absolutely beautiful while providing hours of entertainment with hiking, sliding and splashing. It was disheartening to see two visitors carried out on stretchers by EMT's due to injuries from slipping and falling. This is an area that should be enjoyed with caution and common sense-the rocks are slippery, and dangerous if not careful! Shoes of some sort are a must! That being said, Slide Rock State Park is a "must see" while visiting the Sedona area!!!”

Phoenix Zoo
May 19, 2005 by Tracy S . from Fairfield CT

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6

  • The monkey area was the best site to see
  • Animals in older cages not great picture taking spots

“Nice trails and easy maps make it easy to make your way around this zoo. Older displays made taking pictures hard but it was a nice outing to take your family on.”

Arizona Renaissance Festival
Mar 15, 2005 by Ann O . from Silverton

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • New attractions added every year. Maps and schedules help choose what appeals to each individual. Plan to spend the day.
  • It is so big one can not see and do everything in one day. Food lines (at meal times usually)

“This is a must see experience. So much to do, so much fun. You can spend only the entry fee- (free parking, advance ticket discounts available,) and enjoy entertainment all day long, OR chose to spend additional money in the many Renaissance shops and attractions. Entertainers abound throughout... in both formal and informal settings. Food places are everywhere for your convenience. Many visitors dress in period clothing to fully experience the event. One can purchase such apparel at many locations on the grounds. This event has something for everyone with Art, Music, History, Food, Jesting, Shopping, Games, Performers and much more. The festival employees go out of their way to make everyone's experience fun, and hassle free, and they obviously enjoy doing it.”

“The Renaissance Fest is awesome for the whole family. Ours has been going for years and have always had a great time. It gets a little hot towards the end, but hey, it's Phoenix. The joust is great. Would highly recommend to anyone of any age!”
