Pikeside Bowl
Jun 22, 2009 by Nate from Round Hill, Virginia

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Not far from home.
  • Gets crowded sometimes.

“I would especially recommend Duckpins bowling for kids. I'm 11 years old so I would really think its fun to do. I've read some other peoples reviews, and some are attitude and mean reviews, and some are nice reviews. All the Duckpins lanes are in great condition and are fun to use. And no the staff isn't rude. Adults and seniors have a fun time playing Duckpins too. The building is nice and fancy and has a cool arcade. The only thing I'm going to say negative is that in Duckpins, you have to press the reset and deadwood button and type in the numbers of pins that fell over. (All this stuff is true, I have been there plenty of times.) Thanks for reading!”

Middle Fork River Campgrounds
Apr 28, 2009 by Teena from Grafton

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5

  • The pool was nice.
  • Needs a handyman!

“The maintenance and upkeep of the campground were not very good. The toys that were donated for the playground were not taken care of through the winter and makes you wonder why you donated in the first place. The playground needs some TLC. On holidays, it's like a freeway. The only place where you can see it is if you look behind a cabin or at the gazebo.”

Leisure Lanes Restaurant
Dec 31, 2008 by David Redden from Boonville, NC

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Everything.
  • No negative whatsoever!

“We had our parents 50th anniversary surprise party. It was EXCELLENT. The staff had our room decorated so beautifully, the plates and glasses were gold-rimmed, and the food - she fixed the best roast beef with gravy, baked chicken and shrimp scampi this side of the Mississippi. I hope we can have their 75the there as well. After the dinner for 32 people, 26 stayed and bowled until midnight. What a wonderful way to start the Christmas Holiday!”

Mountain Lake Campground
Aug 20, 2008 by April from WV

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6

  • Like the store, the putt, the pool, the shower house, play ground, first come first serve parking with boats.
  • The staff, inconsideration on campers, being next to the sewage.

“We arrived Sunday and our first couple of nights there were horrible. There had been a storm which knocked out the power to some of the camp sites. The Staff at hotel failed to call us and others we had spoken to regarding this. If we had have known we could have brought a generator etc. We had groceries that were going to spoil. They could have charged us for a site without electric for the nights we were there but gave us the option of coming back another day or moving to another site which was not convenient for us at the time as we were expecting family in the campsite beside of us. Coming back another day? We had a camper, boat, and jet ski. With gas prices these days were just not worth it. We mentioned getting a few bags of ice. No reply. They told us the power would be on first thing the next morning and it was not on until Tuesday afternoon. That afternoon I actually met the owner told him what happened and unlike his staff he did give us some ice for the rest of our food. We also were upset as check-in was at 2 PM. Another camper and we were waiting as someone was in our camping sites. We had to wait about two after our check in before we could actually get into our spot. The smell! we did not know we were right beside their main sewage. So if you go check carefully around your site. Once everything was to normal we actually enjoyed ourselves the rest of the week and we plan to go back. Hopefully they have better staff that would be considerate of their future campers.”

Those Who Served War Museum
Jul 16, 2008 by tony from princeton

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • The layout and the personal history.
  • None.

“This is a unique museum, in that it is a personal look at veterans experiences. It tells their stories, thru veterans who staff the museum. It covers all wars but its primary focus is on WWII. It is well laid out and very neat in appearance. Gov. Joe Manchin rates it as one of the best. Hours are 10:00 to 4:00. Admission is free. It is located on the 2nd floor of the Memorial Building. Please visit. You will be glad you did.”

Camden Park
Jun 5, 2008 by Lisa McCarty from Mammoth

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • I like that you still have a lot of the older rides that I rode when I was a child. I can now share this with my child.
  • I guess the only negative thing I would have to say is that even though my parents do not ride on the rides they still have to pay the full price admission.

“Great park for people of all ages. Just the right size for old and young alike. It is a great place to spend a day with the family.”

Middle Fork River Campgrounds
Feb 25, 2008 by Lisa from Clarksburg

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5

  • Beautiful woods, nice fishing pond, beautiful river.
  • Too many golf carts and 4-wheelers.

“I own a cabin here. It's a nice place on the off season. The summer gets to me a little bit with all the 4-wheelers. I go for the peace a serenity. It's hard to find that with golf carts and 4-wheelers running incessantly.”

Mountaineer Race Track Resort
Feb 3, 2008 by Paul from Pittsburgh

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • A lot of gaming to be done on campus. Ok comps.
  • Not a lot of nearby attractions - especially in walking distance.

“So far this casino resort has kept my respect/ interest. Though this is a casino, and is not a cheap outing, it offers a lot. Besides the casino staples, it has concerts, boxing matches, bingo's, horse racing and multiple food venues on the grounds so just about any age can appreciate something. The staff has been decent. Clean surroundings. Live bands weekly. Somewhat frugal comps but reliable. Fun contests! Decent offerings through bus trips as well. More welcoming staff & atmosphere over their sister casino, Presque Isle - which has limited use comps, rude staff, and mob-like security who I personally saw manhandle a (foreign) guest for accidentally dropping a tissue in the entrance way and forced him to pick it up - somewhat verbally assaulting him as well. So far, mountaineer is my #1 pick for the PA & WV area. Second all-time favorite after Seneca Allegany NY.”

Mountain Lake Campground

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Scenery and cleanliness.
  • Raccoons!

“Gorgeous campground. Very clean and neat. The bathhouses are immaculate and the maintenance is impecable. Nice gift shop and pool area. Great access to lake and overall beautiful scenery. I found this to be one of the best kept secrets in Summersville. We always have a wonderful time when vacationing in Summersville. I think that you should not pass this campground by!”

Fountain Springs Golf Course Inc
May 23, 2007 by Larry from Lewisburg, WV

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Back nine.
  • Front nine.

“Front 9 is average - not very long with several holes that I call fitness holes (i.e. dogleg par 4's that you cannot hit driver on). The back nine is a different animal - quite longer. No. 10 is a 600 yard par 5 with an island green that is a real challenge. The course is pretty open with not much trouble to get into . It is definitely worth playing if you are in the area. Lewisburg Elks Country Club is about 30 miles away and has the best greens in the state.”

Camden Park
Apr 28, 2006 by Vanity & Emily from Oak Hill

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • The food is great, and the rides aren't bad, either.
  • Leaving.

“Camden Park is great for a family vacation. The rides are not large enough to scare your kids out of their pants, but not small enough to be dull, either. There is plenty of food to offer, and live shows every now and again. You do not come here for thrills. You come here to spend quality time with your family. Many people put it down for its size, lack of thrill rides, and the way that the rides look (shabby, run-down, needs re-painted). People need to understand that this is an old park, and people can only work so fast! Also, people are very spoiled, and because of this, they cannot enjoy the actual quality that this park possesses We give this park a 10-10 rating for being down right family fun! (These opinions were written by a 2 people: A thirteen and eleven-year-old. Do not put us down because of our age. Our opinions still matter.)”

The Art Parkersburg Center
Mar 10, 2006 by Sue from Bridgeport, WV

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • I loved the fact that your center was multipurpose and beautifully designed! Oh, to have Abby's vision!
  • I dislike that your Director has no financial resource to convert her vision of what the center can be!

“ Today I attended a luncheon at your center. I enjoyed the lunch but was thrilled by the tour Abby gave my friend and me of your most impressive center, I can only wish that Clarksburg could convert one of its empty buildings and have 66,000 sq. feet of space for galleries, receptions, offices, meeting space, artists at work and on and on. Your entire staff was most gracious! I am looking forward to attending a luncheon again at you center in April. My compliments to you all ! ”

  • Easy to score on, but greens are tough. Practice your putting.
  • Honestly there is nothing negative to say. We play this course all the time.
