Dallas Arboretum
Jun 16, 2008 by Colleen from Baltimore, Maryland

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Variety of plants and trees.
  • Our time to spend there was limited.

“On a recent trip to Dallas, my niece and her husband took us to the Dallas Arboretum. It was one of the highlights of our trip! Anyone who loves to garden or just appreciates nature on display will find the arboretum a feast for the senses! My only regret was that I didn't have my camera with me! Everything from the gardens to the water features were well planned and executed---top notch!”

Lazy L & L Campground & Store Inc
May 27, 2008 by Trina from Lewisville, TX

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Great staff, daily trash pick up, store on site, shuttle pick up for tubers, party on weekends.
  • Noise level not observed if that bothers you then this isn't your place, it didn't bother me, just FYI.

“This is the second year in a row we have camped at Lazy L&L. We are tent campers and we camp with about 4 or 5 couples and their kids. Had a blast this year! Just like Last year. This place has a definite party atmosphere during memorial weekend. Always enough room. Well stocked store. Clean campground. Water/electric at every site. Many areas to access river. Love it.”

Carmike Cinemas
May 25, 2008 by Joyce from Burkburnett

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7

  • The cost of food inside.

“This cinema is just as clean as the other two cinemas in town, but the other two are up on the recent movies, where the one on Maplewood behind the mall is showing movies that just came out on DVD for sale. But the cost to see there movie is only a couple of dollars where it is about a ten dollar bill to get in at the other two cinemas. So if you are on a tight budget and poor this is the one to choose.”

  • Friendly staff, low table limits.
  • Ship could use some work.

“The food is okay, and the ship itself is a little run-down, but the staff is very friendly and personable, the limits are low and there are plenty of tables. I went with a couple friends to check it out and we liked it so much we went back for another cruise the next day. I'll be back soon with more friends.”

Mother Frances Hospital Region
Apr 6, 2008 by Sheree from Tyler, TX

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • A few of the nurses are actually humane.

“The doctors are very condescending, arrogant, and assume the worst of everyone. The nurses are overworked, stressed out all the time, and act like you're an annoyance more than a patient. They frequently order unnecessary tests using excessive amounts of radiation. They are very forthcoming about the fact that they don't trust you, that they don't care about you, and that any reason (besides a heart attack or a gunshot wound) for your visit to their ER isn't good enough.”

Las Colinas
Mar 18, 2008 by Carrie from Lubbock, TX

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • Beautiful city, well-groomed, and close to everything in DFW. The Mandalay Canal is lovely!
  • I would love to see more restaurants and shops cropping up!

“Recently I have visited Las Colinas and there are many beautiful sites to see. Of course, when people hear the name "Las Colinas," they immediately think of the mustangs and the clock, which are something to see, but since my stay in Las Colinas, I've noticed that there is something more...something I hadn't noticed several years ago. Las Colinas has the feel of a very well-kept, beautiful suburb, but it's located very conveniently to Dallas and Fort Worth. A few of the many nearby attractions, which are less than 5-15 minutes away, include The Four Seasons, Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine (about 15 minutes away), Grapevine Vintage Railway that goes to the Fort Worth Stockyards and offers some very unique tours, and Texas Stadium in Irving. My favorite part of Las Colinas is The Mandalay Canal, which gives the area such a beautiful, relaxing feel. There are several luxury hotels very close to the canal. Although the Omni Mandalay Resort ranks, in my opinion, as the finest hotel in Las Colinas, (and possibly among the finest I've seen), my stay at the Wyndham-Las Colinas Hotel was quite pleasant. I don't remember a time when I've ever received service and hospitality with such attention-to-detail. They really go out of their way to serve their guests and I truly felt like a VIP. It's quite apparent that Las Colinas is in a huge developmental stage, with so many big companies in the area. There's no telling what the chamber of commerce has in store for the future of tourism in their pretty little city. I would go so far as to say that Las Colinas is among Texas' "best kept secrets"...a must-see!”

By The River R V Park
Mar 9, 2008 by Dave G from Ohio

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Everything.
  • Very dry weather area. No open campfires allowed due to county fire band.

“Great campground with wonderful people, both the management and the RV people are outstanding. The spaces are larger than what you find at other campgrounds. The campground is located off the main highways, which is a big plus for us as road noise is virtually non-existent. The management is adding new things to the campground and is determined to make this campground the best in Kerrville, TX.”

Casa Manana
Dec 7, 2007 by Moni from Flower Mound

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • Theater is nice; you can watch the play from any seat.
  • You can have rude, under prepared people in front of you.

“TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Beware! I went to Casa Manana for "Frosty the Snowman". When we were leaving at the end, one of the cast members appeared in front of me from nowhere and was very rude with me. She was playing the MOM in the show. She accused me of video taping the show and even said I was giving a bad example to my kids. My 6 years old is very scared and talking about that every minute since that. I was not video taping the show at all (would I be crazy enough to take my 2 kids to a theater and video tape the show? - is it really worth the experience?) I went to the theater to have fun and what I got was my kids very scared because of a very rude under prepared cast member... not really worth the money...you can find better and nicer things to go to.... Christmas Spirit is far away from the "Frosty the snowman cast members."”

Old Macdonald's Farm Inc
Oct 23, 2007 by Barbara from houston,texas

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • The pool.
  • Cages needed to be cleaned more often.

“We love old McDonalds farm. I recommend it to everyone. It is never crowed because it has so many acres and beautiful trees. They have nice benches that are covered. The children love to pet the animals and ride the train. There are ponies that you can ride as many times as you want. They also sell food for the animals for 50 cents. We didn't have any problem using the pool and no one said anything about it being reserved. They also have deer that room the park, and the kids love to feed them. I think this is not only fun for the kids, but it is also educational. They also allow you to bring in your own food and drinks. You can even order food and bring it in.”

Cibolo Bowling Club
Jul 10, 2007 by Charlie Subbada from Babbushka

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • Used to be friendly and fun.
  • Not friendly and no more fun anymore.

“This is a nice place. The people are nice. It is fun to bowl there. The bowling is like the bowling in the motherland. It is 9 pins. Sometimes called kegle bowling. Pins are in shape of diamond. No 10 pins. There are 6 peoples on team. Bowling is a team effort. Scoring is based on what team does, not individual scores. Scoring is 9 points for knocking all pins down. If middle pin stays up (normally a different color (red) than others) scoring is 12 points. If first bowler doesn't bowl down all pins next bowler must inorder to score points. Then new rack is made. Pins are set up by boys no automatic pin setting machines. Very nice. Several years back, club had many renovations to it. The Board of directors did lots of work for improvements. Now nothing is done, not even change bad lights. Have annual bb-q yearly. Not as good as used to be. Different peoples run club. They want titles not work. They big shots with big heads. Wife and me go there lots, but not anymore these peoples who run now have no gut attitudes. Need new peoples to run place like old times.”

Pine Dunes Resort & Golf Club Inc
Jul 9, 2007 by Brandon from Dallas, Tx

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7

  • Nice greens, layout.
  • Amenities, lack of customer service.

“Nice layout and greens however the amenities are terrible for the amount you are paying. ($80 green fee). The golf shop is basically a shed and there is no customer service at all. We didn't' see any marshals and the cart girl came around sparingly. The rough was extremely high and unplayable for amateurs. We probably won't return as we can get a better value in Dallas. I would expect more from a 4.5 star rating from Golf Digest.”

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Betting windows and machines.
  • Valet parking is a long way from the seating areas!

“Great venue for horse racing as well as other events. Do wish that children were not allowed at the races. I love children, but some places are not appropriate for kids. The food served in the main dining areas and the clubhouse menu is really quite good, although service is slow during peek times. I do love the horses, so I'm a big fan of Sam Houston Race Park! Glad, the owners come up with ways to bring in revenue during the off season so they can afford to keep the track, the facilities so nice.”

The Plex
Jul 2, 2007 by AW from Seymour

Overall Rating: 2 User Rating Score: 2

  • The outside activities worked.
  • The Plex appears to have no housekeeping!

“I wish a competitor would move in and get The Plex to get their act together! I took my child on a Friday afternoon just for a few inside games for a quick summer treat. I was very disappointed in the atmosphere. The carpet is stained, everything looks and is dirty, very little staff when you needed them, trash in the grass, and two rides out of the four that we rode took our money. When I told the staff their reply was, yes, sometimes we have to start the carousel manually (well that indicates to me that it needs some repairs). They did give us our two tokens back which is a plus. My husband and I went back on Sunday with our child for a family day. I was hoping maybe things were in the condition that they were because it was late in the day on Friday and the end of the week. It was just as disgusting on Sunday as it was on Friday. We were planning on enjoying the outside games on this trip. We rode the Bumper Boats first and then the Go Karts. We then went inside for a quick drink to cool off. My husband took my son to the bathroom to wash his hands while I purchased our refreshments. The cashier didn't have change for a twenty so we had to wait for at least 7 minutes for someone to bring her change. My husband and son returned and I wanted to go wash my hands. My husband warned me that I probably didn't want to go to the bathroom. He said the men's had no soap, two dirty diapers up on the counter, and it is filthy. I decided to take my chances since I needed to wash my hands. As I rounded the corner to the restroom, the smell of urine filled the air. The women's did have soap, but you could tell it hasn't been well maintained at all. After our drink, we went outside to ride the bumper boats again. There wasn't an employee working the Bumper Boats and we and several other families stood waiting. One employee walked by and asked if all of us in line were waiting to ride and of course we said, Yes. He said that he would find someone. Later he came walking back talking to another employee and both ignored all of us. I finally went inside after about 12 minutes and found an employee and asked for someone to come to the Bumper Boats. She said that she would call someone and in about 4 minutes someone finally came over. After Bumper Boats, we rode the Go Karts again before playing Miniature Golf. The golf course is in desperate need of repairs. The water is filthy and stinky, maybe from the dead fish floating. The grass is ripped and worn causing difficulty in playing. Some of the lighting is broken and the structures are decrepit. My son enjoyed the activities and we would like to take him to enjoy these activities again; however, The Plex will have to clean-up their facility remarkably before my husband or I plan on returning! I wouldn't dream of eating their food!”

Delmar Lanes

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • Well maintained, quality lanes.
  • Small house.

“Del-mar has undergone a recent renovation. The run down little house has re-emerged as a well appointed family bowling center. With all new top of the line Brunswick pro Avalon lanes, and Brunswick furniture, the place is a pleasure to bowl. The parking lot has had a major renovation, as well as the outside of the building. Ex-pro carol Norman has her pro-shop in del-mar, and you'll find none better at fitting and drilling bowling balls than carol. If you haven't been there for awhile, I suggest you stop by and bowl a couple of lines. You won't be disappointed.”

“It's great. If you like a field of knee deep weeds, because Houston, one of the largest cities in the united states, no longer has a major amusement park! Sold for real estate development. Well, that's progress. Guess we'll take the grandchildren to the horse racing track instead. They'll really be thrilled with that. Unbelievable. An area with over four million people and you'd think there would be enough interest to support an amusement park. Aw what the heck, forget the kids, let's make money and sell condos.”

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7

  • New Lanes, Friendly people.
  • No Pro Shop, No Bar.

“I like Action World Bowl, but unfortunately the only thing you can do is bowl and eat. They have some video game machines but basically not worth it. The lack of a nice Pro shop shows. They sell a few things just around the corner from the main entry desk but it is hardly considered a pro shop. They just reconstructed the lanes and they are very nice. The place overall is very nice. Besides not having a pro shop the only other thing that takes away from the experience is that lack of a descent bar.”

The Plex

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3

  • Some good attractions such as mini-golf & go-carting.
  • Too expensive & not worth the price.

“The Plax has a good idea, but they just don't know how to execute it. The kids play area is boring and lacks sufficient games/activities to keep their interests. The food is unappetizing and you're better off grabbing something from McDonald's for less price. The other attractions (Mini-golf, go-kart, and act) are so over priced. You end up wondering what in the world did you pay for. It's just not worth it. But, if you have money to throw away and just don't care, give it a try.”

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5

  • Beautiful greens and fairways.
  • Management is very poor, rarely there.

“This is a great course, however, don't plan a tournament here. The management stinks and fails to follow thru with plans and promises. We held a 7 day tournament here and had others teeing off during our tournament. Management doesn't have enough carts to furnish to participants. The bar doesn't stay open for drinks after rounds. The restaurant closes early and you can't get a snack after playing. They double charged us for our room. They over charged us cart fees. It is very poorly managed. The bar runs out of beer, has no iced mugs, there is very little ice available to fill ice chests on the carts, beer is warm. Very poorly run.”
