Coolidge Park
Dec 31, 2007 by Heather Bass from Ooltewah, TN

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4

  • I like the history and brief description of the park.
  • The info for events was vague including incorrect contact info.

“The history about the park is interesting, however there I saw link to a calendar of events for the park. The link provided only directs you to the city of Chattanooga with a calendar of openings for buildings or new locations (not Coolidge park related). The phone number listed as a contact for more information was also incorrect. I have three young boys who enjoy fireworks, craft shows, and other family related activities that we never hear about which occur often at Coolidge park. A travel guide insert should include more accurate information to help one plan their vacation. A calendar of events that occur throughout the year with interests for people with or without families should be available.”

Dollywood
Dec 11, 2007 by gustarus from lexington

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • None.
  • They want your money.

“My family and I went to dolly wood December 2007 and were very disappointed. My kids had traveled from England and I felt very guilty after the trip for taking them to such a disappointing place. It cost $206 for 5 of us to get in .plus $7 for parking! My first impression once inside was that the place is geared to taking every dollar you have left, after paying the extortionate entry fee, before you leave. We must have walked past 20+ stores before we even saw any amusements. My kids expected rides, rides and more rides .they didn't want to buy oil paintings, cowboy hats, romantic novels, leather jackets or glass oil burners! When we eventually found some rides, which to be honest didn't take that long as the place is tiny, we were very disappointed. The rides, except for perhaps 2 rollercoasters are the sort of things you expect to see at low budget street fairs. The place is best avoided you are far better off to spend your hard earned $ in pigeon forge at such places as wonderworks, the theaters and the go kart tracks etc. Alternatively head for Kentucky, six flags is far better and far cheaper.”

Leisure Lanes Inc
Nov 24, 2007 by Kris from Johnson City

Overall Rating: 6 User Rating Score: 6

  • Atmosphere was fun. Decor is great.
  • Cigarette smoke.

“The bowling is great. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the decor is very suitable and fitting. However, the cigarette smoke would choke a horse. My kids loved to bowl, but were always hesitant to go there because of the smell of the bowling alley. And the way they smelled when they came out.”

Imagination Station
Nov 7, 2007 by Holly from Chattanooga, Tennessee

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Great imagination playground and plenty to play on!
  • Not enough parking. I think.

“Imagination station was wonderful! There is a train on the tracks and one to stand on for photos. The playground is both a parent's dream as well as a child's. It is easy to pass since it is behind the library. On the left! Great place for any function.”

Southern Belle Riverboat
Oct 14, 2007 by Jeff from Chattanooga

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Friendly people, good food.
  • You usually have to sit with another couple. It is really crowed on Saturday nights, recommend Sundays.

“I always love coming on the Riverboat the staff is friendly and the food is excellent. The band, although not the best, always plays fun music and is very entertaining. When you come onto the pier you are greeting by a huge gift shop. The prices are really reasonable compared to other attractions gift shops and it is beautiful. I have been on the Riverboat 3 or 4 times and every time it is great. The staff goes out of the way to make sure you're having a good time. The front desk even recognizes me when I come in and they greet me by name.”

Eagles Landing Golf Course
Sep 29, 2007 by Jeff from Roswell,Ga.

Overall Rating: 7 User Rating Score: 7

  • Course upkeep combined with cost of play. Nice snack/bathroom area at the turn.
  • Scorecard yardages.

“This is a challenging course with some great views. The course itself is spread out which makes you feel like you are not playing on top of other groups. There are some questions about the yardages on many of the holes and the score card. Be wary of the 4th and 5th holes. Unless you can fly it 300yds, lay up on the 4th at the 150yd marker. There is nowhere to bail out on the 5th so keep your tee shot in the fairway. All said, when in the area there is no better course to play for the upkeep and money. You would not know this is a municipal course!”

Coolidge Park Carousel
Aug 25, 2007 by Sylvia from Signal Mtn

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • Different interesting animals.
  • Not accessibility for wheelchairs.

“From the point of view from a wheelchair the accessibility to get on the carousel we had to lift the wheelchair. A portable ramp would take away the safety risk and humiliation. The beauty of the hand carved animals and the building it is housed in is wonderful. The ride is fun for all ages.”

Knoxville Zoological Gardens, Inc.
Aug 25, 2007 by Patricia from Findlay OH

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Educational and enjoyable.
  • The heat - but not zoo's fault, they had misters for humans too.

“This was a very nice zoo but we chose to visit on an extremely hot and humid day. The best display we thought was the black bears. They had a marvelous exhibit area and were obviously enjoying it. The zoo was very well kept up, had very good educational but fun signage, and lots of designs to interest children. Most of the animals were either not in sight or hiding in undergrowth, due to the heat and not zoo management. Roving information volunteers were most informative and interesting, especially the man by the elephants. This zoo is also a receptacle zoo to many others, so check if your zoo membership will get you in.”

Glen Eagle Golf Course
Jul 9, 2007 by Greg from Orem, Utah

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Excellent value, challenging layout, helpful staff.
  • Can be very slow play on the weekends.

“Since this is a military supported golf facility, I am inclined to believe that those who said the staff were rude and condescending have never served in the military and mistook military bearing as a negative personality trait. I have played over 60 rounds of golf at Glen Eagle since February of this year and find the course to be quite challenging, especially the greens. Though I am used to a higher quality of course, I found Glen Eagle to be in very good shape and see improvements all the time, including a brand new club house that is having its preliminary grand opening today, July 9th. They will have a more formal opening in the next couple of weeks. They have all new electric carts as well at this facility and the rates are unbeatable! You would be hard pressed to find a better course for the money.”

North Lee Lanes
May 23, 2007 by Erika

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • At least they had bumpers.
  • Every aspect.

“This hole-in-the-wall bowling alley was terrible. Unless you like the stench of years of smoke, filthy bowling chairs, and dingy carpet, steer clear of this disgusting little place. The staff (the owner) was very rude. It took him a long time to wait on us, even though we were standing directly in front of him and were the only people there. He overcharged us as well. I would have protested, but he never got off of the phone while he was ringing me up. By then, I just wanted to get out of there. ”

Ruby Falls
May 21, 2007 by charlie from clearwater, fl

Overall Rating: 2 User Rating Score: 2

  • Huge groups and we have to wait long.

“The cave and falls are nice, but from my position in the herd I could not hear anything and got railroaded past the exhibit areas in a rush. Go somewhere else. If do you go, fight for a position at the front of the pack; otherwise you will be waiting with your thumb up your (anatomically explicit idiom edited partially out) while the guys up front have a rollicking good time. ”

  • Wish I could play here everyday.

“The best value of any golf course I play. Gps, great conditions. Best greens. It would be a 10 except it takes me 40-45 minutes from my driveway (but worth the extra 15min drive) the staff was exceptional. Courteous, professional and helpful. It is a nice change to be treated well! This course only cost about 35 bucks, taxes, gps carts included. It is worth a lot more!”

  • A bit too muni. No rules!

“The course is fine. It is challenging and has great greens. The problem is there are no marshals and you'll see everything out here. Yesterday, we saw a five some. The 2 groups in front of us were unbelievably slow. No one would prepare to hit while anyone in the group was playing. It was like following 4 singles at once. Marshals are sorely needed at this course.”

National Civil Rights Museum
Aug 10, 2006 by Annie from Arkansas

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Entire staff was very helpful.
  • Nothing

“By the end of this tour, I was nearly overcome with emotion. This museum is a must for anyone visiting Memphis. The museum is actually built onto the Lorraine Motel where MLK was shot. The tour is self guided and is best if you purchase the audio headphones for only $2 more. The exhibits are well presented with as many true historical objects as possible such as the bus Rosa Parks was on and a burned out bus Freedom Fighters rode on. The rooms that MLK was in before his death are very moving. While not able to go out onto the actual balcony where he was shot, you are able to view it. Across the street, the museum is expanding. There are lots of exhibits about the shooter, investigation, and trial. There is a viewing from a window to the balcony of the Lorraine, probably just as the shooter saw it. This museum was the highlight of my trip.”

Ruby Falls
Jul 22, 2006 by Joe

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • Clean well kept entrance.
  • Parking abysmal, worthless attraction.

“That was HORRIBLE! I can understand a move to the side policy ..in one spot we stood and had TWO groups go past. We stopped. walked a feet and stopped again. We didn't hear anything. Tens of feet ahead of us might be some nice formation, but we'd never know it. We were our feet over two hours. Most Getting to the 'falls'. Your groups are too large. 50ish people ( I counted each group passing by us the variance was 47 to 58 ) means most don't get to see/hear what's going on. We get to stop on a regular basis and wait.. At the climax, the falls, the show was well into it before the back third entered the cavern. I and those with me didn't go around the falls because the guide was telling us we needed to go for the next group. As the last of the three Lookout Mtn visits we had hoped it would be the cap to a nice day Instead it was the confirmation of how tourist traps are run. Double the 1 hr time frame. Pathetic and obvious to end the tour in front of the 'tipping' sign to yet again have us stand and wait to even enter the elevator Queue and THEN, booting us out two floors above the exit ..blocking us until the sales pitch is finished.”

  • Everything.
  • Nothing at all.

“I have grown up going to tellico with my mom and dad since I was three years old. It has always been a sacred place to me. I would suggest to anyone that if you love the outdoors, and watching wildlife, this is the place for you. Unlike campsites that are in close proximity to each other, Indian boundary offers sites that are spaced out and no bathrooms or showers for the true outdoors men!

there is nothing like taking a bath in a freezing cold creek!

and for those that enjoy fishing, tellico has the best trout fishing available!

I am in hopes that unlike Gatlinburg, which because of commercialism has lost its charm for me, that tellico will remain untouched, this is truly a place of relaxation where you can escape everyday life.”

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4

  • The falls were very nice to view.
  • The rest of the experience.

“The falls were very fun to look at, but it was overly dramatic once reaching the point. There was a lot of music and they switched the colors of the lights during viewing, which was rather distracting. The elevator situation was very uncomfortable. They cram as many people as possible into the elevator. Also, it was very annoying having to move to the side of the "trail" to let others pass by. There were many tight places that made passing others virtually impossible. Also, there are no bathrooms. Adults usually do not have a problem with this, but with small children, it makes taking this trip difficult.”

The house is not as big as I expected, and the entire second floor is off limits. The living areas are supposedly decorated just as they were before Elvis died and it's fun to imagine Elvis and other stars sitting around and having fun. There is plenty of memorabilia to look at if you are into that sort of thing. ”

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

“I thoroughly enjoyed this particular segment of Tennessee Crossroads. As a professor of African and African American art at the University of Memphis, I appreciated Mr. Moseley's respect for Africa, its diverse peoples, and their fascinating cultures and art forms. This program provided an important educational service for local Tennesseans, informing them of an art collection representative of history and cultures from a distant part of the world that is unfamiliar to most people in this region. This segment really brought to the fore the programs goals of searching out the rich cultural heritage of Tennessee.”
