“Attractive, old world decor with comfortable lobby and off-lobby bar. Staff was quietly friendly and helpful. Valet parking is available with in-and-out privileges. A public parking garage is available next door and has a connecting passageway to the hotel.”

“Fancy rooms, excellent staff, very tiny bathroom, and you can hear all of neighbors coming and goings and conversations. Parking is expensive.”

“Wheelchair users are seated at the back instead of up front like Medford's Tinseltown. Not only that, admission is free for wheelchair users. Way to go, coming attractions theaters! Staff was kind & helpful with using the ADA lift.”

“I suppose it was okay. The lobby is beautiful, however the corridors upstairs are outdated and dreary. We asked four rooms, each for one night, were given dreary interior rooms that were not updated in many years.”

“Historic ambiance and very helpful personnel. Very ornate and tasteful lobby for lounging. Individual room was small but all the amenities were available, including comfortable chairs and plenty of light from the window. Two upscale restaurants in the hotel and public parking across the street connected by a safe well lighted tunnel under the street.”

“It's a venerable landmark in the heart of downtown, but it does not live up to its reputation. The staff was not particularly friendly. The rooms were pleasant but small. The TV set was small and ancient. Parking costs $29 a night unless you're smart enough to ask the attendant about the regular rate for non-guests, which is only $20!”

“This is a well situated 3.5 star hotel that reveals the opulence once expected of good hotels. I remember staying there years ago and referring to the Benson as a mini Palmer House.”

“Staff basically ignored us. At check-in, employee was rude. Only had one bellboy approach us the whole time regarding bags, etc. They charged for so many extras that we began wondering if they were going to add a fee for using the toilet in our room. Automatically charged $20 for second bed. No pool/spa. No Continental breakfast. Only one computer in business office that charged some $20/hour for internet access. I wish I could get the River place every time I name my own price in Portland because they were awesome there.”

“I've driven by Argyle winery dozens of times, but finally made a point to stop for a wine tasting. I was pretty impressed. I tried the 'Red White and Brut' group - five wines for $10 - and the Spirit house pinot for about $3. I thought the Chardonnay and Brut were very good, even though I prefer reds. The Spirit house pinot noir was probably one of the best glasses of wine I've ever had, no exaggeration. I only wish I had a big juicy steak at the same time. The place is really modern and hip inside. friendly, too.”

“Lovely spot by the river, area to picnic, the rides are perfect for a summer day, although this place can become packed very quickly. We love to come during the special Tuesdays where its for kids under 5. We plan to check out the roller rink there this week. The only difficulty is getting in and out of this area, the roads are old and slightly awkward to get back on I-5.”

“This is an older hotel from the grand age of hotels. The lobby and other areas of the hotel are absolutely beautiful. Because it is an older hotel, the room and especially the bathroom are a little on the small size. However, it was not musty smelling inside in spite of being older. It is not located in the best area, anymore, but we felt safe on the street.”

“For those who appreciate old world style, the Benson is class. Back to the gilded age with capable, likable staff. Loved the lobby. Breakfast at the hotel was reasonable for a 4 star. Room well appointed. Tempurpedic beds were nice.”

“We were recently in Cottage Grove for a family get together and decided to take the whole family to Liberty Lanes to go bowling. We had one of the best times in years! It turned out that the establishment was recently taken over by a new family of Cottage Grove and they have done a wonderful job in turning the place around. I couldn't believe the hospitality they gave to us, especially with 8 screaming and rambunctious kids! Anyone around Cottage Grove that is looking to have some good quality family fun should definitely make some time to stop in to this one of a kind bowling ally. They have miniature golf too! Although my husband beat me at bowling, I whooped him in golf badly! He's a golfer too!”

“I'm sorry but this site is awful. The train goes by every hour not 20 yards from sites. It shakes the ground and honks it's horn twice as it passes. Almost went home at 12 am to escape. No redeeming qualities and expensive.”

“I very much enjoyed the trail, and loved how it winds through the different many types of gardens that Portland has. I would have ranked the trail higher, but as the previous post said parts of the trail werent marked very well and caused me to backtrack. Other than that its a very beautiful hike with intermediate slopes and hills, moss covered trees, with a nice cool breeze, not to mention the occasional flowing stream bringing peacefulness to the area.”

“Hanley farm is a great place to go with your whole family. The volunteers are very friendly and welcoming. When you visit, be sure to take the house tours. The historical society will share information about the house that your family will find fascinating. Booths, wagon rides, craft making, delicious food, house tours, and historical information (and more!) Will add even a lot to your trip to Oregon. Great for families with young or teen children, grandparents, and the all out information lovers!”

“The Air Museum is a marvel, but there are two major problems with the displays. We have seen some of these aircraft previously. For example, the Spruce Goose was far better displayed in the Long Beach Dome, sharing its space with an exhibit car. In its current setting, it looks like a Winnebago in a used car lot. A host of other aircraft and vehicles are jammed beneath and beside it. You cannot get any vision of the scale or magnificence of the plane without going to the second floor of the gift shop, and even there, the view is not really sufficient. You lose an appreciation of the magnitude of this accomplishment. The SR-71 Blackbird is also poorly displayed. The sculptural lines of this beautiful aircraft are disrupted by the open engine cowling and the open crew hatches. This bird should be parked in its own space, as was done for some of the war birds, so that one can appreciate its beauty and elegance. I photographed this plane on the ramp at Nasa Ames, and saw what it looked like in a proper setting. There is also a start cart and an early drone, just like the display at Plant 42 in Palmdale. Put this plane back together and showcase it properly. When the new space museum opens up, there will be some additional space. The space exhibits will move across the parking lot. Perhaps then we can get a better view of the Blackbird.”

“If you like nature walks, then you will love this trail. It is 5 minutes by train from downtown. I headed from the zoo to the Japanese gardens. The whole walk took approximately a 1/2 hour. It was a bit difficult at first to get on the right path to the Japanese gardens. I did not have a trail book with me, and there were a number of forks in the path without signs. However, I asked one of the many joggers / dog walkers on the path for help and was soon going in the right direction. After 10 minutes, I was in a dewy paradise. I do not know whether it is technically a rain forest, but I couldn't tell the difference. It was the highlight of my trip to Portland.”

“This is a clean, attractive, non-smoking establishment with a very family-oriented feel. Management was considerate and professional and the staff was friendly and helpful. There were many different activities, including bowling, pool, go-carts, batting cages, miniature golf, and a full restaurant. It was a pleasure to spend an evening there with my children and extended family!”

“I lived in the Portland Heights area for over a year - just below Council Crest. I often walked up to the top before going to work and/or after coming back home. It's a super fine area with fantastic views of St. Helens, Adams, Mt. Hood, the Coastal Range to the west and on a real clear day, one can see Mt. Rainer peeking around the edge of Mt. St. Helens. And yes, if its cloudy, you cant see much but the energy is there, none the less. For the unrban view, one gets a birds eye view of some of Portlands downtown city lights at night - there are no lights on the top within the park - this helps maintain clarity for night sights beyond. I've spent many a solitary moment up there with no one around. Security has never been a problem, although, always be prepared for the unexpected no matter where you are. The view of the Columbia as it rolls towards the Pacific is easily recognized. The confluance area of the Columbia and the Willamette River moving through Portland is also easily recognizable. BIG view, great area!”

“When I heard about this place I debated whether to bother with this "museum" thinking it might be a small town tourist trap type of deal (like the worlds largest ball of twine) plus, it was a bit out of the way for one little old airplane museum. Well, we went anyway and I have one word to describe it. AWESOME! I could not BELIEVE how much I and my family enjoyed this place! Every airplane model I had built as a kid was there. From All of the WWII fighters showcased on the History channel, to the legendary SR-71 Blackbird spy plane. For everything related to aviation, this place is LOADED! I thought I would be dragging around a bored wife, but to my surprise SHE was dragging ME around just as excited as the kids! (she even cried a few times reading the stories of "Gallant enemy" fighters and aviation heroes). The kids gained a new respect (and interest) for aviation and still talk about our visit to the museum many months later. Sometimes while walking around you forget you are under the wings of the Herculean main attraction the "Spruce Goose". I found myself looking up every few minutes and simply muttering "wow" as I stared in disbelief at the sheer size of the bird. All through the place I got little surprises that just blew me away! A titan 2 ICBM missile just laying there off to the side, then off to the corner a lunar module replica with an authentic TOUCHABLE Russian space capsule that really went to space! Add to this the awesome gift shop, the wine tasting, the nice cafe, and the planes the kids (and I) got to touch, climb into, and take pictures around (I got some great pictures of me pretending to be sucked into a jet intake HA)! We were all VERY happy we discovered this secret treasure of a place and are now very big fans. We HIGHLY recommend it to everyone and anyone looking for an interesting, educational, MEMORABLE few hours. We consider it a "CAN'T MISS" stop if you're anywhere near McMinnville Oregon. It is WELL WORTH THE TRIP! The LaVoie Family.”

“Located in Cannon Beach Oregon, around 100 miles from Portland. Many formations like this along the coast, with Haystack being one of the larger. Frequent fog and rain often obscure the rocks from view. July and August are best bets for seeing the best the coast has to offer. Even then, weather can be cool and windy. ”

“By far one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. It was a pleasure to walk the grounds with someone I loved. The dampness was not even a mood breaker. It was stunning, and the altar and mountain side carving were just breath taking. Anyone regardless of what religion should make this a stop. It's free and worth the time. Thanks”
