Buffaloe Lanes Cary Family
Jul 2, 2008 by Lauren from Apex

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Dinner and show, fantastic food.
  • The menu is set, if you don't like Japanese food I wouldn't eat here.

“I've had a wonderful experience every time at Kabuki's, our whole family has. There's dinner and a show, if you make a reservation you won't have to wait as long. The menu is somewhat set though; you will have a small salad (with ranch or ginger dressing), wonton soup. The main meal includes fried rice, fried noodles, grilled greens (usually asparagus with onions), shrimp, and your choice of main course. The main courses are teriyaki or hibachi style, you can choose between chicken, beef, and shrimp or you can mix. They do have a kids menu with a smaller selection. Overall the food is fantastic, you'll have a wonderful experience while you watch your meal prepared before you. Personally I'd rather eat at a great restaurant than at McDonalds.”

Midsouth Golf LLC
Jun 15, 2008 by Tony from New Bern

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • Has potential under new ownership. Want to buy a golf course.
  • Midsouth Golf LLC is horrible.

“Following is a list of some of the conditions that exist: One course now closed. Weeds grown up knee high. Its a total loss. The remaining course is the highest priced in the area. Scorecard boxes at 2nd tee areas no longer useable. Sand boxes on tee areas for divot repair removed. Yardage signs with distances and shape of fairway paint weathered off, several signs missing, some have wrong whole numbers. Many trash baskets missing or lying on their sides because the bottoms have rusted out. Towels to dry off golf balls at ball washers missing or torn. Drinking fountains at bathrooms removed. Drinking water no long available on courses for purchase only. Sand bunkers drainage cloth on top of sand, poorly maintained, inferior sand, stones, edges broken down, weeds, poor drainage so often filled with water. Sufficient and useable rakes for sand traps are limited or missing. Computerized individual handicap labels discontinued fee increased $3.00. Limited pro-shop stock, primarily clothing. On course rangers/player assistants no longer available. Golf league use of either course except on alternate basis. Course closed on Monday and Tues. except for late afternoon twilight. Course bathrooms need cleaning, painting and repair. Rain checks no longer available. No full time golf pro. 150 yard markers on golf courses removed. Yard marks on cart path need repainting. Flags to locate holes on greens are now all the same color and hole. Placement is indicated by yellow plastic balls which are breaking or missing. Winter over seeding inconsistent. Weed control on golf course is not done or ineffective because weeds are out of control. Several areas of cart paths have been dug up for various reasons but not repaired. Pot holes on cart paths need repairing. When sprinkler heads are replaced metal distance markers are not replaced. Practice sand trap at HP removed. Practice putting green installed but cant be used. No more outside tournaments such as Sr. pharmacy, chamber of Commerce, invitational, hotel/golf packages, etc. (income producing). No holiday tournaments. No club championship tournament. No member guest tournament. The front of the restaurant appears over grown, dark and uninviting. Difficult to tell it is a restaurant. Tennis courts seem abandoned. Docks at Shoreline marina need repair because of rotted support beams. Dock electrical system in question.”

Richard Petty Museum

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • I liked all of it. It is well presented. Some one took a lot of time and planning for this museum.
  • Nothing.

“It is a very interesting place with lots of things to see other than race cars. It is well worth your time to go. We plan to go back because I know we didn't see everything. Mrs. Petty's doll collection is magnificent. She was there and she is so friendly. She took up a lot of time with us and we really enjoyed talking to her. Thanks Mrs. Petty. Richard's gun collection, watch collection, race cars, motorcycles, rewards, pictures, etc. is so interesting. We also rode past their home. It is a beautiful place. Be sure to go. You will be glad you did.”

Caution Kids At Play
Apr 8, 2008 by Jennifer from Charlotte

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Fun for all.
  • Out of business.

“It was a great place for children and parents of all ages. The ball pit and tubes were open for parent participation and knee pads were provided if needed. The arcade was filled with a variety of games that included carnival type silly things for the youngest of the group. Games gave tickets to trade for toys. The pizza was awesome. Parties were well organized. They used to regularly schedule Friday night sleepover parties. Any child could come, get an unlimited supply of tokens, race through the tubes in the dark while only rope lights wrapped around the tubes lit the way and smoke from smoke machines filled the void, and sleep in a sleeping bag anywhere you wanted even on the rope ladder or in the tubes. Pizza was provided for dinner and doughnuts or cereal for breakfast then home to mommy. It was so funny to watch them try to stay awake all night. Scared they might miss out on something. In fact, I remember fondly, watching one of our regulars fall sleepy face first into his doughnut after a long night of playing.”

Fun 'N' Wheels Inc
Mar 4, 2008 by Marsh from Boone

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3

  • Bumper cars, Air Hockey, Go Karts for different size people, workers like kids.
  • High prices, lots of rules, no snacks, can't race your kid.

“There's no snack and the prices are crazy. There are too many rules like you can't race your kid if they're too small because there are different speed cars. The bumper cars are cool because we got to ride longer than we were supposed to every time. They don't have all day passes but they will give you refunds like if your kid gets too scared. They give refunds on the video games if it takes your money. They should do because of how much tickets cost.”

Pin Station Bowling Center
Feb 9, 2008 by heather from denver

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Great price, clean, large open space, good food.
  • Cash only.

“I have not found a better place to bowl. There prices to bowl are very reasonable and food is priced well also. There are many lanes so there is no wait when we go. The food is good. I am from Charlotte and moved to Denver a year ago. If you compare this place to other bowling alleys like "Mooresville", "Huntersville", and in "Charlotte", there is no question its worth the 20 minute drive to go bowling for us. We end up spending half the price each game we play, and there is no smoking. Its nice to be able to bowl and not have to inhale lots of smoke while doing it. My only complaint would be for them to start taking credit/debit cards. It has been an inconvenience for us a couple of times when we didnt have cash. They are cash only. I dont know if they take cheques.”

  • Inexpensive activity for whole family.
  • Difficult to make reservations, outdated.

“We had a wonderful time bowling here! The facility is a bit outdated. We had my sons birthday party here. We received pizza, soft drink all paper products and the "party room" as well as 2 games of bowling and shoes for the kids, plus a painted bowling pin for the birthday boy. The party room is none too exciting. Sparkly decorated with a folding table and chairs with a used plastic tablecloth. Bathrooms were clean! Bowling lanes and shoes clean. Overall, great experience, although it would be nice if it were updated. We havent had this much fun in ages!”

  • My child liked the few kiddy rides.
  • Everything except the kiddy rides was disappointing.

“Chair lifts seem too large for some children, but there are no size restrictions. The so called "safety bar" on the chair lift does not stay down on its on. The amusement park is certainly not worth the admission price. The shows have decent talent but are not well written and/or produced. .”

  • Mountain views once I decided to open my eyes on the chairlift.
  • Broken, non-operational, unsafe rides.

“I wouldn't go back if they provided limo service and free meals and tickets. Rides are broken, chair lift is unsafe (if you take your arms off the security bar, it lifts into the air!) Rides are broken. They would be much better off to invest a little money in the chairlift, and charge 10 bucks to ride up the mountain and see the old buildings.”

Ghost Town In The Sky
Jul 1, 2007 by Dianne from Virginia

Overall Rating: 2 User Rating Score: 2

  • View.
  • Cost of everything too high, seemingly unsafe environment.

“We paid $100 to get into this park - 2 adults 2 children (4 and 7). We find out that the train was not functional, several rides and several shows were not operational. We rode a ski lift up to the very top that dropped us directly in a photo booth that charged $21.50 for a portrait on the ski lift. Only to have to wait in line to be shepherded further up the mountain on a tram b/c the train was not operational and we were not allowed to walk/hike up. There was very little communication from the staff as to where we were supposed to stand, what we were supposed to do, etc. While there is obviously restoration taking place, I believe they could have charged a smaller fee to reflect the things we were able to do. People were meandering up and down the "town" street, in and out of shops although few were walking out with bags with purchased items merchandise was way over priced, not unique to Ghost Town and could easily be purchased at the dollar store. Lots of people going from show to show, but I got the sense that everyone was waiting for the "thing" we paid the big bucks for. Rides were fun for the kids, although the setup didn't breed confidence in us as parents and we were leary to let them ride anything that looked unsafe. The placement of the rides was brilliant, in that the swings were operating at the top of the mountain, swinging you virtually off the side. There was a huge Geronimo drop thing, but in light of the most recent accident in Kentucky, we were not at all interested in risking it. Great views, but unnerving. The park has only been open for one month, so I don't know what else to expect in coming days, I personally wouldn't recommend this trip to anyone.”

  • Staff does not care about the customer.

“When I walked in it was clean and I thought that my family would have lots of fun. The staff was discourteous and rude. The guy fixing was an older guy. I told him my son lost money in a game; he lectured me that the games don't use money but tokens. Once I told him ok, sorry it was a token he told me, so now you change your story. The rides outside were clean and looked well kept, but the staff did not help on any of the rides, I had to help my child into a kiddy ride and out at the end of the ride. I think I was the head manager strutting around, but I am not sure.”

  • Mile high sky ride, roller coaster should be exciting, the old west shootout.
  • Had to leave and come home.

“My wife and I were there on June 13, 2007. Just got back to South Florida. We had a great time...I went there as a child. and remember it fondly. People would be surprised at how many famous western stars of the 60's worked there. The place just re-opened May 25th, so the paint still smells fresh. The staff was friendly and the old west shootout was neat, the roller coaster wasn't up and running yet, but they say it will in a few days. We'll be moving to that area real soon. Who knows, maybe I can get a job getting' shot off the roof and land in the hay bale...at least it will be make believe getting' shot. In south Fl..its not make believe.”

It has nice campsites, a beach that is filled with cold mountain creek, that has from shallow water, to deep water with a diving board. They have a water slide that kids and adult love. It is a very family friendly place to go I will recommend it to any one from the age of 0 to 100. ”

Wet 'N Wild Emerald Pointe Water Park

  • The rides are wonderful, fast moving lines.
  • Water fountains are difficult to find.

“I have been going to this place for years, and have never had any problems. Nobody has ever tired to sell me drugs, and I have never noticed an inordinate level of cursing. The rides are not over hyped, the lines move quickly, and most everything is worth the wait. There are rides for everyone, fast, slow, not to mention rides just for kids. Highly recommended. The only drawback is that there are not any water fountains. If you want a drink, you have to pay somewhere, and they'll try and charge you for the cups. Bring a water bottle.”

My mom never received this attention at the larger, supposedly better hospital. Everything was not perfect, but they convinced us that they really cared and the doctor took great care of mom. I would recommend!”

  • Too many extra charges ie. cable.

“The sites were well maintained, the staff was not as friendly as other staff I have encountered at other. It seems they stay on top of the leash law which I know must be enforced but. For two days straight the bath houses near my site always had problems, one out of order and stopped up toilets and the other one not cleaned on a regular basis. It seems that the some of the staff ride around on golf carts all day trying to find something being done wrong. Not a very friendly atmosphere to relax.”

“This hospital's behavioral health is about 30 years behind the times in how they diagnose and treat people. They put all the mental health patients in the same unit - so anyone who might be depressed or manic is housed (or locked up) next to criminals just released from jail who are quite dangerous. They refuse to work with family members and feel the best treatment is to exclude family history. Who does that? No wonder they are not approved by any association to take medical residents. Sigh. So sad.”

“This establishment isn't worth 5 dollars to go and view a film. The only thing this theater has on its side is that it happens to be quite clean. But the movie selection and the movie times are really quite horrible. Most theaters have films at 7, not this place. Try an hour to an hour and half earlier. But maybe am just anal and like having my films on at 7. But besides that the theaters are small and the chairs aren¿t that comfortable. I would just go to Asheville to go see a film if I were you.”

The greens are not that fast, but are very tricky. The course is open year round, and overall it stays is good shape. Price is only 10 for juniors and 20 for adults, you can't beat that. Highly recommended!”

Thunder Lanes, Llc
Sep 1, 2006 by Kitsie from Waynesville

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • Nothing.
  • Management, Poor Upkeep, Employees.

“The establishment is poorly kept. 95% of the time the lanes are not fully operational. It has taken up to two hours to bowl one game. I bowled in a league at this establishment for three years (I would have bowled somewhere else after the first league however this is the only one in the area) in the three years of bowling, my league has paid out $11,520.00 in lane fees. You would think this would be enough to keep the lanes up but every year they are worse. Where is the money going? If you are looking for a nice evening out with friends and family this is not the place to go.”

  • Good price, good popcorn, good service.
  • Nothing.

“I love this theater! They offer good movies at a much better price than other theaters. The staff is always friendly and their popcorn is the best! It's much better to stay in Tarboro and watch movies.”
