Duck Pond at UNM
Aug 21, 2007 by William from Albuquerque

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Loved the bass.
  • Don't like the trash people leave behind.

“It's a great place to watch smallmouth bass if you are into fishing. I've actually caught and released a few here. I don't know if that's permitted, but so far I have not had any problems. This is one of my favorite places to take a nap in the shade as well.”

  • Up your Alley next door.
  • League Nights.

“It was small. Couldn't get a lane at first cuz it was league night - for the whole week! But when we finally were able to get a lane. It was cool.”

Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club
Jun 21, 2007 by Ralph from Pendleton, IN

Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • Great views, great course.
  • A little expensive for the area 79-100 riding and you want to ride.

“One of the best courses in nm, I was lucky enough to spend 8 years just out side of Albuquerque. If you get a chance to play this course take a camera and go to some of the black tees on the elevated tees, its well worth the walk.”

Casa Rondena Winery
Jun 3, 2007 by Joe from Napa Valley, CA

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • Beautiful location.
  • Horrible management and too expensive for what you get.

“Beautiful place but has a very non attentive staff and it is overpriced for the type of wine I tasted. There are far better establishments for wine in the Jemez area and up in northern New Mexico that have friendlier management and fine wines.”

Overall Rating: 2 User Rating Score: 2

  • The parking lot.
  • No customer service. Rude!

“I'm completely disappointed in the service I received from century Rio 24 theater in Albuquerque nm. When I arrived at the theater there was no-one to take/scan my prepaid fandango tickets. As I waited, and waited, and waited for service numerous theater goes came and purchased there tickets at the gate while I was waiting to be help! When I finally was able to talk to someone they where rude and very unprofessional. I'll find another theatre to waste my money at!”

Sandia Casino
Aug 25, 2006 by Maria from Taos

Overall Rating: 3 User Rating Score: 3

  • Plenty of parking, free casino beverages.
  • I looked very hard, but couldn't find a single smiling staff member.

“This casino is fairly new. The slots don't pay very much, but the old-timer locals don't seem to mind it. The buffet is horrible for the price. Mostly low grade mass-produced food. They don't deserve to charge Vegas rates with such substandard quality. The entire casino is filled with smoke including the supposed "non-smoking" area. People just blew it straight into my face. If you have asthma this is not the casino to go to. Try one of the other local casinos with better ventilation.”

Carlsbad Caverns National Park
Jun 30, 2006 by George from Terre Haute, IN

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Spooky entrance. Spectacular formations. Nature's art at its best.
  • One irritable ranger balanced out a fun one. Dale should be fired.

“Early June, 2002. Probably not much different now. Unbelievably gorgeous cave. Natural Entrance route was steep and spooky and fun. Got tired of looking for a place in the big room that was not highly decorated and breathtaking. Evening bat flight was fun, because perky young ranger lady had the amphitheater audience play "Who Wants To Be A Bat Millionaire?" before the natural show began. She was really fun with the bat trivia. Kids seems to enjoy it. Bat flight was awesome. They spiral out of the great hole because they can't fly straight up, and they keep coming and coming. I guess even more can be seen in August after the summer newborns begin to fly. Irritable ranger Dale led our King's Palace tour. He should be fired. No fun. ”

Mesa Del Sol Amphitheatre
Apr 9, 2006 by Robert from Minneapolis, MN

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Everything.
  • You are in the desert: BRING WATER!

“Back in 2000 I saw the Who at the Pepsi Center in Denver. My friend from Denver had picked up tickets for the next night's performance in Albuquerque. Road trip!

At 7:30 pm the show started. My friend and I arrived about 7:00 pm. Access was easy, parking was plentiful, and the set up was fabulous. Of course, this time of year the sun sets late, and the weather was perfect!

I have been to only two other outdoor venues, in MN and WI. Mesa del Sol blows them away. The stage is incredible, cut out of existing rock formations. The bowl shape topography forms a natural amphitheatre. Reserved seating up close, and surrounding this is acres of general seating ideal for blankets and lawn chairs. Again the natural topography allows the general seating to both see and hear. After sundown this became a very casual and comfortable atmosphere.

Centermost is the concession area. Good size, with plenty of amenities (the usual t-shirts, etc, as well as food, drinks, etc). This is the only rock concert I have been to where the men's room wasn't a biohazard, which says a lot especially for an outdoor venue.

Perhaps it was the juxtaposition of the sterile Pepsi Center arena concert the night before, but the crowd AND the band were definitely in the groove. I have seen the Who seven times in four states and this was by far their most inspired performance I have seen, and I think the Amphitheatre has a lot to do with it.

Simply put, if your favorite performer is booked at Mesa del Sol, GO! Especially if you have to travel to get there. Albuquerque has an international airport, a N/S and E/W interstate right in the middle, and friendly locals. (We camped at the KOA just North of town).”

Clovis Municipal Golf Course
Apr 3, 2006 by Mike from Tatum, NM

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • The cheapest green fees you can find.
  • You will quickly realize why the green fees are so cheap.

“ The Clovis Municipal Golf Course is perfect for beginners and Senior citizens. Golf courses do not come any easier. It is built on land that is as flat as you could hope for. There are no traps or water hazards. There are a few holes with out of bounds. It was built in 1929 on a budget that had to be next to nothing. If you want a challenge go to Roswell or Ruidoso, New Mexico. If you want scenery go anywhere else this course has no positive characteristics except it does have dirt cheap green fees.”

Santa Fe National Forest
Nov 12, 2005 by IZAAK2 from Aiken, SC (See all reviews by IZAAK2)
Overall Rating: 9 User Rating Score: 9

  • Hiking trails
  • $5 day use fees

“Even following the unfortunate fire several years ago this public forest is well worth the short drive from Santa Fe. Awe inspiring views and geological features in the Valle Grande can be followed with fishing and/or hiking along the Jemez River. There are several excellent campgrounds and picnic areas, and far too many trails to see in a week. Plus, you can stop by the Bandelier National Monument on the way here or back.”

Century Rio 24
May 15, 2005 by Steve F . from Albuquerque

Overall Rating: 1 User Rating Score: 1

  • Lots of screens, Close to trendy restaurants and easy to access.
  • Usually long lines for the week-ends, crying children are allowed in to the theaters.

“Went to see the Interpreter at the matinee to avoid the lines and crowds. The movie was out of focus on half of the screen. When I notified the very young customer relations manager that the movie was not focused I assumed that it would be taken care of. It wasn't and after the movie I spoke to another very young attendant who got on a walkie-talkie with someone to check the focus in theater 22. But the movie was over now, what good is that going to do me now. The staff was rude and unprofessional. Customer service isn't even a concept at the Century 24 theaters. My advice, wait for the movie to come out on DVD.”

Camp Monakiwa
Mar 10, 2005 by Robert H . from Lubbock

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • It was a beautiful mountain camp with all a Summer Camp should have.
  • Poor cellphone communication, but I guess this could also be a benefit.

“The camp had all the amenities my children could want at a Summer Camp. It was a wonderful experience for them and they are looking at going back each Summer. Their favorite activities were riflery, archery, and horseback riding... items not commonly found in big city areas...”
