Diamond Bowl Of Independence Inc
May 1, 2008 by Robin Wiley from Independence

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Super cool.
  • Pricey for families.

“The retro vibe is great! Big screen TVs at the end of the lanes. Black lights for night time bowling. Everything is computerized for low stress fun. Cool couches to sit on and coffee tables with cubbies for shoes and stuff. Menu looked good. Nice bar. With only 8 lanes it feels very comfortable and intimate. Not the typical loud dirty bowling alley at all I went on a Thursday after lunch with the kids. $10 a head for 2 games plus shoes. Not really the place for families on a budget. It's a must for a cool business lunch or happy hour. After 10 on weekends are 21 and over, so this would also make a very cool night out.”

Indoor Mini Golf
Dec 20, 2007 by Wayne from Ozark, Mo.

Overall Rating: 2 User Rating Score: 2

  • It was something to when the weather was bad.
  • Very straight no fun course. No obstacles and no completion for a hole in one.

“We needed something to do between shows with a 4 year old. We went to the course since it was raining outside and limited our ventures to indoor activities. The whole course was pretty boring and overpriced for enjoyment returned. Wouldn't do it again, and we only played 9 hoes in a matter of minutes. Sorry, I don't recommend this attraction.”

Raintree Country Club
Sep 23, 2007 by kevin from st. louis

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Great food and great prices (no dress code--except you must wear a shirt).
  • Very hilly course and far away from city.

“Great place for very fair priced golf and great food. The course is very nice, but beware you need a cart because it is one of the most hilly courses in the area. The menu is big and prices are very reasonable as well. Definitely worth the time, even if you live in the city (about a 40 minute drive). I recommend.”

Jason Place Campground
Aug 14, 2007 by Missy from Mackinaw

Overall Rating: 4 User Rating Score: 4

  • The buffet and pool.
  • The bathrooms and shower houses.

“We stayed in Happy Hollow. This place is set up for tent camping for the most part. We pulled our camper through what seemed like mountains to get to our spot. Our electricity would hardly run our air conditioner. Our outlet was apart and wrapped in black electrical tape. The bathrooms were terrible; one was broke, one was plugged and the showers didn't lock and the one that did you had to chase the water around to get wet. Your clothes got soaked because the shower sprayed all over the place. There is not any running water at the sites in Happy Hollow that isn't said anywhere in their pamphlet. The dump station runs uphill. I will say, when I come back to canoe I will eat at the little buffet. The food was excellent. Love those ribs and the gravy. I also enjoyed the pool! All and all I have had a lot better camping experiences. We drove 7 hours and by Friday night I was ready to pack up and drive back home. I will never stay here again because it just seemed like a lot of stress and not much relaxing.”

Exotic Animal Paradise
Jul 28, 2007 by HR from overland park, kansas

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5

  • The cleanliness of the park.
  • Need more animals.

“The park is open. We just went and we had a good time. There are not as many animals there, but it does look like they are working on improving the facility. The staff was very friendly and the animals were fun to feed. We think that it was a little pricy for what animals were there. But, we would go back especially if they keep improving the facility.”

Honey Creek Golf Club
Jun 20, 2007 by Don Phillips from Kimberling City, Mo.

Overall Rating: 8 User Rating Score: 8

  • Sub quality practice green. Lacking in good cart paths.

“Honey creek is a quality golf course that offers many challenging holes for a very reasonable green fee. It's like playing two different golf courses. The front nine is shorter than the back and plays totally different. The back nine is pga long. The greens are in fabulous shape however they are generally small; but a joy to putt. Fairways are Bermuda and well kept. This course has some rolling hills but is reasonably flat for the most part (by Ozark standards). Lots of fun and challenging to play. Plan on hitting every club in your bag. There is not too much sand but water comes into play on a few of the holes. There are also many trees for the wayward shots. Honey creek is a very fair test of golf. You will enjoy it. It has a variety of quality holes and offers golfers of every ability the chance to enjoy a fine day of golf.”

Saint Louis Gateway Arch
Apr 1, 2007 by beverly from feeding hills, mass.

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • I liked the view could see for many miles.
  • Hope they improved their elevator.

“I thought it was great. Was there in 1982. When I was there they had a museum in the bottom floor underground. You had to take an elevator that sat 4 or 5 people in it would click as it was going up. Like it was going up the stairs. Once at the top it was a wonderful view to look out the windows. I thought it was wonderful. The other bowlers I was with did not like it at all for it seemed to sway little. They went to other side and went back done. I stayed up there for about 25 minutes. I do not know if it's the same today or not. Going back for a convention in 2008.”

Powell Symphony Hall
Mar 14, 2007 by John from Ballwin

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5

  • It is very beautiful and for ghost lovers there is a ghost Named George.
  • The music is not the greatest.

“On February 28 I went to Powell symphony hall. I heard and saw many things. The following paragraphs will describe those experiences. Some of the songs I heard were very unique. I heard songs like carnival which expressed many exciting feelings. There was a selection that brought so many thoughts and feelings. There were many different instruments. We were able to hear two instruments that arena commonly heard in the orchestra. They were the harp and the tambourine. The beat also played a big part. Sometimes it got really quiet and you had to strain your ears to hear. Sometimes it got very loud and it felt like it was playing just for you. It got very fast and the violinists were moving their bows really fast. Sometimes it got so slow that you felt like you were going to have a very bad day. I saw many things also. The sights in my opinion were better than the music. The tour guide told us about a ghost who lived in someplace we saw. His Name was George. I think the sights were breath-taking. I think I would want to go there again. It¿s not the best music or sights. There was a lot of gold. The guide said they used all of the U.S.A gold plus more. I personally think that¿s illogical.”

  • Great environment and people and activities!
  • The food isn't always that great. (But all you have to do is bring some snacks to keep in your room.).

“Baptist hill is amazing! I've met some of my best friends there. The environment is just wonderful for learning more about god and fellowship with others. The outdoor activities give you time to learn about the people around you and just to relax and have a good time. I recommend Baptist hill to anyone. The view from the hill is spectacular; it reminds you of how awesome god really is. The people there are so open and willing to share the word. The worship services are definitely not boring.”

  • Very relaxing.
  • Musty smell.

“I rather enjoy the train ride, even though I only went on it for my husband. The scenery was nice, I think it would be very pretty in the summer as a lot of the trees would be blooming and the fall would be beautiful with all the colors. Would not mind going again in the fall. Although the train is old, it's not in to bad of condition. It does smell musty. I think they could help out with a bit of cleaning and maintenance.”

Overall Rating: 10 User Rating Score: 10

  • Wonderful show; very good entertainment.
  • Make sure ticket buyers know that the show starts at 7 pm.

“We loved Andy and Glen Campbell. The show was great! Our only problem was this: Most evening shows at Branson start at 8 pm. Andy's starts at 7 pm. Failing to notice this on the ticket, we arrived when the show was half over. The tickets are not cheap, so we missed a good portion of the show. I think that the ladies in ticket sales should stress that THIS show begins at SEVEN and not 8 pm. The usher told us that he sees this happen every day; people think it starts at 8 pm.”

Branson Scenic Railway
Aug 26, 2005 by John from Independence MO

Overall Rating: 5 User Rating Score: 5

  • Nice old train, friendly, personable conductors!
  • Not very scenic!

“The train itself was a nice experience. The route left something to be desired. Most of the trip, the view was either obscured by trees or sheer rock walls which crowded in close to the train tracks. Couldn't see the forests for the trees literally. Two nice views from trestles, near the very end of the trip. Not enough seats for all to use the cars with the bubble tops, a real disappointment. Positives: The conductors and people on the train are very friendly and funny, too! Lots of good ol' down home joshing and the narrator for the trip gave some interesting historical information. A very relaxing ride, also, as the train gently and slowly sways through the Missouri-Arkansas Ozarks.”
