User Reviews for Illinois Attractions« Go back to Indiana RestaurantsResearch User Reviews for Illinois (1-20 of 96)Lynfred Winery Inc
“We went on a Private Wine Tour and Tasting. I treated a bunch of my girlfriends to an afternoon out. We were a little disappointed in the setting. Lynfred Wineries is located right next to a Starbucks, strip mall and residential housing. It didn't feel like much of an escape, but after a few glasses of wine, nobody seemed to notice. The private tasting was nice and not rushed. The tour guide was like-able and knowledgeable. However, we just ping-ponged between a hallway, a tasting room and the distillery. It was not much of a tour. After the tour, we bought a few bottles of wine (that they would not let us open and pour at the location) and purchased a few glasses of wine to take out to the Gazebo. We lingered for another hour and a half. The wine was good. I am not an expert at wines. I enjoy a good glass and was able to find that in the Lynfred Merlot. Overall, the tour and the tasting are not the big draw. It's the people you share the experience with that make it a fun experience.”

“This place was an absolute nightmare! The so called pool was so unsanitary, I wouldn't let my dog near it, much less my children! It was a run-down mess. Unfortunately, I did not think to read reviews before I visited this camp site and so wish I had.”

“I visited the Fire Barn in 2001 and I have to say it was nothing short of fantastic, should I ever return to Elgin a visit to fire Barn no5 will be at the top of my 'to do' list. The only complaint I have is that I wasn't allowed to go on the pole.”

“I thought the services were OK- but overpriced. I went for a simple pull back and make-up aplication for a special occasion and they charged me almost $200. I will never go back and think they take advantage of you if you say you have a wedding. How is a woman supposed to get that occasional treat when they are overcharged just for saying they are going to a wedding”

“Started bowling there about a year ago and have enjoyed it plenty. Recently bought a new fingertip ball from the on site pro shop. The pro there is knowledgeable and helpful and I was throwing 200 games in no time. On weekend nights there usually is a younger crowd with music blasting throughout the alley. I prefer the slower crowd and don't usually frequent during these hours. I prefer this alley over most alleys in my area and go here when I do bowl outside of league nights. it isn't the closest to me, but the best overall for what I am looking for in a bowling alley.”

“Super campground! We camp with our dogs and Pine Lakes is very pet friendly. They have a great dog park right on the campgrounds that allows me to let the dogs run and play off leash. There are great trails that are well-mulched all around the grounds that allows us to really get the dogs tired for the night. The owners, are two of the nicest people you'd ever meet. Our first two trips here were weekend trips and it rained. When contemplating how to pull our camper out of the flood, they came by and told us not to try as she wanted us to be happy and to come back. Her husband came by with a tractor and pulled our pop up onto the paved road and helped us hook up to our SUV. We've been back several times. It's large, but there's no crowded feeling. Lots of trees mean that most of the sites are in full shade-even the sites right on the lake. Lots of activities, a game room, groomed beach, etc. make for a really fun weekend.”

“I flew during Spring break 2008 and the process was so easy. Parking was a breeze. Flight selection is minimal but if I can find a flight to meet my needs this airport will be my first choice. Even going through security was pleasant. That has never happened before! The flights were on time and the staff were polite. Baggage return took a very long time on the return flight.”

“Nice lanes for the upper end bowler. Conditions are quite consistent and allow for higher scoring for the bowler who can adjust and make good shots. Nice people run the house and are always willing to help.”

“This place is horrible, do not bring your family here! It is a real life version of a Stephen king movie or Friday the 13th, there are no words to describe this campground. Broken play ground equipment, soaped up golf carts, loud for your own safety do not go there!”

“Not a friendly place. This is a Polish hospital and if you are not of Polish descent do not bother coming here. The OB unit seems rushed and I felt like a number not a person. The nurses are not nice and just did not seem to understand that I have pain. I had a c-section and they told me that by the third day, I should not have any pain. I had surgery of course I am in pain! Everyone handles pain differently but they just did not understand that (or believe) that my pain was there.”

“Incredible course. Very long, requires accurate drives. Greens were some of the best I have ever seen. Very smooth, very true roll, and very fast. Not many flat, straight puts. Staff was very nice. $22 unlimited pay on Tuesday including a cart.”

“My husband and I took a drive out to see the campground over the weekend. Scary is not even the word to describe it! Driving in there were several abandoned campers with weeds covering them. It was as if we drove into another world. There was no rhyme or reason to this place. The bathrooms were run down at best. The facilities were absolutely gross - it was as if this was a sub community to some out law gang land. To be fair the girl at the front gate was nice to let us drive around and also opened the office to give us information but I was worried about her actually being in that campground - how could she feel safe there?.”

Thanks for the valuable feedback you provided to other MYTravelGuide members. Your vote will be counted and will soon appear on the review page. Randall 16 Theater
“Randall 16 is strictly run by teenagers that are rude and self-absorbed. They are horrible at the concession. Every time I go, it is dreadful, knowing that I have to be waited on by this staff. They are in conversation with their peers behind the counter, and have no regard to the people to whom they are to waiting on. Then to try and report this behavior, you are then faced with a manager that is another teenager, or barely above that age. It is so frustrating. These teens need some serious guidance. Not to mention, that if some state health agency decided to pop in, the floors and counters behind the concessions are so filthy, muttered with popcorn thrown about. I'd rather not know where my food is coming from, if this is the case. Someone needs to get in gear, before this theater goes downhill anymore!”

“Went to visit friends that were staying there, left when the wanted to charge us to visit, with our friends already signed-in and waiting for us in the office. If you like rusted-out wrecks, tall, unmoved grass/weeds, loud music of all varieties, soaped-up four wheel drive vehicles racing around, then this is the place for you! If you travel just 10 minutes west on Il. Rt.71 check out Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park-Camp & Resort. Clean, Friendly Staff, Well-Maintained Sites, Lots of Activities, and no charge to visit and check-out the grounds. Well worth the extra ten minute drive and price difference !”

“We [my husband and I] have visited the restaurant several times. It is a beautiful setting with a nice menu selection and reasonable prices. We went with friends last Sunday for their brunch [$12.95 as of this date] and were truly delighted at the very extensive buffet selections with made-to-order choices prepared by a pleasant, accommodating chef. They serve the best bacon I ever ate; crepes, blintzes - several untypical breakfast items, and all of the usual. It was very good! Exceptional, actually. We don't golf, so I can't really comment on that, but the courses are beautiful, and they have an indoor driving range that is quite a sight to behold.”

“My mother was recently in this hospital. She was not treated nicely at all. She would ask for help and the nurse would come in and said they would be right back and would never show back up. My dad and sister did more for her than the doctors or nurses. The nurses were also very rude and would ignore her calls. She couldn't get out of the bed to go to the bathroom and she wet the bed. She called for a nurse and it took her over a half hour to come to help her out. She was very unhappy in that hospital and doesn't ever want to go back.”

“Nice lanes but this establishment continues to violate the law by allowing smoking throughout the bowling alley. It is filled with second hand smoke and there is a blatant disregard for the state law. The manager apologizes but continues to not enforce the no smoking policy.”

“The fiesta bowl in Pontiac, Illinois is not the best center in the world. However, for a bowling center, it is kept clean and it has a friendly staff. The lanes are synthetic and only a couple of years old; the lanes are also oiled on a regular basis with a fairly new conditioning machine. Although the machines are old, they do perform well and the scoring system is virtually flawless. The fiesta bowl is a great place for families and kids; and it is strictly no smoking all of the time. .”

“Wow what a challenge. This course is a super layout, with some of the fastest greens in IL. At 7400 yards from tips, and several sets of tees, you can bite off all or more than you can chew at this track. Only one hole I didn't like and that was the par 3 #12. If you're above the whole a foot, you have no chance on this one. Kind of a goofy hole, but the other 17 are superb. Oh, and did I mention you can play all day on Mondays for $25. Best value in golf anywhere Ive ever been.”

“Although conveniently located in proximity to home (only 45 min. ride) and a beautiful ride to the campground, it is indeed a bit on the seedy side. I have visited this campground dozens of times because my family had a site here. The woods are filled with abandoned truck trailers and other rusted un-natural equipment. Many areas look like junkyards with old tractors and equipment. When I visited over Labor day weekend, only 1 of the 9 or so female showers worked, so long lines were your only option. If you like to party, this is the place to be. A lot of drunken people hanging out at the pool all day and falling on the dance floor of the pavilion are a way of life here. Most of the full time residents are toothless with scary demeanors, not role models for young children. The store onsite is junky, needs a major clean up as well as the recreation room.”

“Stoney Creek is a great course for those new to the sport. It features an easy landscape coupled with tough pin placements which can challenge even the most experienced. I golf there several times a year with my teen age children and the location and course rating appeal to them.”

“What a gem! Virtually in the middle of nowhere, this course is cut out of a beautiful piece of land. Some of the most impressive driving holes, with elevated tee boxes, that you will find anywhere. The greens are fast and roll true. The bent grass fairways are wonderful. The price is so low that it is hard to believe. The clubhouse staff is incredibly friendly. They make you feel like you are part of the family. The course is not perfect mind you. There are a few rough spots around the edges. But those are minor issues. All in all, this is a very fun course to play and serves as a tough test of golf, especially from the blue and black tees. You have to try this one!”
